I dont see Carter as a splash in the pan off rhe bench spark guy.

I see him as a starter whwre you look up at end of game and hes quietly filled the stat sheet.

Hopefully he gets opportunities

He projects as a guy like Monk in a lot of ways. Once they get confidence there might be no looking back. Now all they need is for Perry and Christie to properly remove head from ***. They're cutting off their own nose to spite their face here.

I really would like to get off Deebo and Zach as quickly as possible but they are losing players so maybe Doug does know what he's doing by playing them at crunch time. On the other hand, I have no frickin clue why a team would want to add either as anything more than a spark plug off the bench and I'm not sure either are willing to accept such a role.

With 3-4 defenders playing with DeRozan, he's still a talented scorer and a guy you can go to in the half court, which happens more often down the stretch of close playoff games

I certainly see DDR having interest if this stupid Giannis thing gets resolved or at the last second if it doesn't. Maybe Zach at next year's deadline for a team that wants to clear 2027 space and just says screw it.

Honestly I low-key hope Zach is so miserable here he opts out. They said he was trying to get Rich Paul to force another trade and we told them to shove off. Could still potentially be a S&T deal on a 2-3 year contract but otherwise he can hate us all his sorry butt wants.

He isn’t opting out. Would you return a powerball winning ticket?

I don't expect him to. But I would if I was miserable. He's not going to not make money, just a little less. The gamble that he'd be taking is that he'd be able to continue to make more money in the right situation with say a 3/90 deal and securing a future contract beyond that than he would looking like a loser at 50m next year and being a FA with his team packing his bags for him. Plenty of guys have done this recently.

I can see a fringe contender going for Deebo, as he has a ton of value as a scorer if he's willing to come off of the bench. You just have to hope the prospect of being the 6th man while competing for a ring has more appeal than being 6th man for a team competing for the #1 draft pick.

We're stuck with Zach. But whatever, he's an ender next year. We can trade him for a solid vet or just let him expire for FA money after he leads us to another high draft pick.

Ok give me 40% of your salary bro. You ok with that?

No, because why the hell would I give it to you? There's nothing in it for me.

First of all, the point here is that his long range earning potential could be more if he opts out to sign a 2-3 year deal next year than plays next season while being overpaid for a losing team. That does depend on what his market value next year is. Plus there may be more money by getting to a better market, not paying CA taxes, etc. etc.

Second the operating assumption is he hates it in Sacramento. Hostile fan base, horrible team. He's getting paid to be one of the faces of the death of the beam team. After Vivek and Doug, I am pretty sure he is the most hated person in the org right now. He went to his agent and had them demand a trade and nobody cares. The agent already played his cars with Fox and they won't be pushed around.

So if presented the option with licking toilets clean for 50 million for a year or getting 90 million for 3 years having a nice desk job, which would you take? I'd take the latter.

Zach has made at least a quarter of a billion dollars over his career. He has enough. Why on earth would 10 or 20 million matter next year if he can extend his earning potential by going to another team before he is perceived as a total loser only worth the vet min? Unless he's going to retire at the end of the contract. Staying with the Kings potentially does long term damage for the back stage of his career. He's 30 right now so he could have one more large contract in him if he rehabs by showing he is capable of playing for a winner. He definitely won't if he plays next year with Sacramento.

eta - here's a real life example: JV telling the Kings he'd quit and go to Europe rather than play for us this year.

We need that superfan that sits behind the bench to step up his game again, so we can expedite ushering this bum out of here. One of the highest paid losers I've ever seen

Read what I said from the perspective of the team and not the player. ;)

You're feeling satisfied about a "Barnes" type player on a non playoff team that is trying to rebuild, so that they could trade Shroder...who never made sense to begin with? Should have just committed to building a little extra value in Ellis, which would not have been difficult to do with consistent playing time.

This is chasing your tail type of stuff

I get the frustration, but now we can look back and have the benefit of hindsight. The reality is Sabonis and Keegan have both been out most of the year, and still today have yet to play together this season if I’m not mistaken. The team doesn’t have anywhere near the depth to overcome the losses of both of them being out. If both of those guys are healthy this season it’s a much different conversation.

He is t giving his money back. He isn’t an idiot. And no one is going to pay him long term for more than that. Get real.
