So random question that I do not know the answer to... Why is it that on some live inbound plays the ref has to touch the ball before the team can inbound it and sometimes they don't have to? Is this some new rule or exception that I haven't picked up on in the past 5-10 years

After a made basket, they don't have to touch it. Every other dead ball, they do. Always been that way
