49ers - getting ready for 2009/10 season

I split this off into a new thread, since I think the 49ers are heading in a new direction.

:)

I didn't want linehan anyways but how can you choose the lions over the niners? Maybe they're gonna draft stafford and they want him to mold him

You think Stafford is going to go over Sanchez?

Anyways, I've never been a big Linehan fan, and it looks like the Niners are talking to old school Dan Reeves now. I get the feeling that he and Singletary would not get along very well.

stafford is way more ready than sanchez. He's had 3 yrs in the sec. I really think sanchez should have stayed. But the fact that sc is changing coaches around like it's nothing is the reason why he left imo. I like staffords mechanics more too.

Dan Reeves?? Wow. That surprises me. How long has he been out of the league now?? 7 or 8 years yeah?? Idk if this will be a good move.

I have a feeling sanchez or stafford wont be around by the 9ers pick, and i think the 9ers need a big playmaker on O like a jeremy maclin, or a disrupter on the d-line like orakpo or maybin. You could even reach for percy harvin, but i think he seems to be more of a late first round guy

I think the last thing the Niners could do with their first round pick is to select a quarterback, regardless of who he is.

SacBee said Kurt Warner is flying to San Fran on Monday!

I like it!
Here's to signing him while he mentors a drafted QB for a few years~!

As a Rams FAN, Issac Bruce was one one crazy adjustment.
Now my favorite ex Ram QB & my all time favorite, is trying out with the Niners...Wow to the Damn, as Madea w;)uld say.

I'm trippin on this news. Wondering could Warner, make me a semi-Niner fan? Yikes, don't know. Well just wait & see where the chips fall.

I like Warner, but... for that kind of money I'm gonna say no thanks. Plus, he's just using us in his game of chicken with the Cardinals.

I don't think there's any possibility of Warner actually signing with the Niners. It's just an agent ploy to get the Cards to pony up $$$.

If he somehow did, he'd plug a hole for a year or two, if our O-Line can protect him (seeing as he's not that mobile).

S.I.: Niners leave door open for TO

While putting the Kurt Warner saga to rest Thursday, general manager Scot McCloughan left the door open -- if just a crack -- for the 49ers to pursue another famous name. McCloughan did not rule out signing receiver Terrell Owens, who was released by the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday. During an interview on KNBR radio, McCloughan initially gave a vague answer about Owens by explaining that the 49ers evaluate every free agent on the market. Brian Murphy, co-host of the "Murph & Mac" morning show, pressed the issue by saying, "So official statement from the 49ers: 'Not closing the door?' " "Correct," McCloughan said.

Now it is under the "truth and rumors" section but since it was an actual quote made by McCloughan on KNBR... I thought it was worth posting.

Interesting...

With O'Sullivan gone, if Smith can bring even part of the talent some of you have been convinced he possesses, this might end up not sucking.

"I don't measure myself in my contract in terms of what I'm making," said Smith, who missed most of the past two seasons because of shoulder injuries. "Having gone through what I've gone through the last couple of years, and being on the sideline, I guess I've got a different perspective on this game. When it came time to restructure the contract, it wasn't anything to do with ego. I just wanted the chance to compete."

I like the attitude, and this is from someone who has never really liked Smith.

49ers interested in Holt?

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2009/03/13/SP2U16EAH4.DTL

The 49ers might be interested in another Ram, however, in wide receiver Torry Holt, provided he is released as expected next week. It would have to be at the right price for the 49ers to make a move on Holt.

I would assume signing Holt would bring Bruce back, and that said it would be pretty weird seeing both Bruce and Holt as the top two receivers on this team.
Not to say I would complain about it!

Sticking it to the Rams fans would make me ecstatic, and those two guys can still play. Especially better than the other receivers we have at this point.
I want it to happen
