We gotta hang on to Zach until his contract expires. He's walking ping pong balls.
Fantastic! And nobody watching the games because we keep losing them all. I certainly don't enjoy it. I, for one, have stopped watching on TV. Any game I've gone to this year it has just been with free tix. I'm certainly not paying to watch this train wreck.

That's the other gamble with a team that decides to tank, especially someplace like Sacramento, which is not exactly a basketball town: the assumption that, if the tank works, you can get those fans to come back.

That's fine too if Vivek sells.

Anyways, I get where you're coming from. Rooting for the Beam Team was one million times better than rooting for lins, I just happen to be one of those deranged rascals who thinks the draft is the only path forward for this franchise.

I'll come back to the light if we ever look like anything other than a team fighting for 11th in the West. Hell, I'll root for wins even if we ARE looking like a team fighting for 11th in the West as long as it's powered by a youth movement.

I was at every city council meeting to keep the team and build an arena, along with the Captain and Kennadog and others (following Mike's lead - he was the one who REALLY put in the time and effort on all that). I used to watch EVERY game on TV and go to maybe a half dozen a year.

Now I really can't be bothered to watch unless it is free tickets for some in-person entertainment (for the price of parking and a little gas). The last game I was at there were a LOT of empty seats. They have GOT to be hemorrhaging fans. And some will never come back and may even switch teams to support. This is a very risky game they are playing.

Dude we aren’t making the playoffs. And this team is going nowhere. Increase the draft odds. It all there really is to do to make the future better.
Or lottery balls don't go your way and all this craptacular play don't make the future better. Good luck!

It's not just about playoffs. It's entertainment. And for the most part they haven't been entertaining. Losses are not fun.

Maybe we should just forfeit all our games to get the best chance at lottery odds and just have a bunch of practices to get the kids more playing time! That accomplishes all the goals while avoiding the public humiliation of being tied for the worst team in the league playing on TV just about every night. Yay!

If it makes anyone feel any better, they really tried to win this game

Are you complaining that the 35 year olds aren’t competing for the 11th seed

Don't care about the draft, can't make me care. I can't count on living long enough to see what happens when/if the handful of magic beans pays off.

Frankly, I wouldn't mind the losses if it were being done with the kids all playing max minutes. Any game where the guys who are older than Yahoo get 30+ minutes and guys who are younger than Napster get DNP-CD, it's bad.

You don’t get better by being a mid team. And yes getting lucky with a top pick, especially this year helps. It’s about maximizing the future.

No. I want them all traded away. The kids need to play to develop.

But I also want a competitive team that can win some games. Or at least not lose so many games by 20+ points. Not for nearly 2 decades now.

I'm apathetic. And that's the worst place to be.

If it makes anyone feel any better, they really tried to win this game
Yeah, and they've been doing the same since before Twitter was the new hot thing and the Wii was released.

Don't mind me, I'm just feeling salty tonight. This **** has been going on for 20 years except for one bright moment a couple years ago, and it looks like we're just headed for more of the same. Maybe I'm just channeling my inner SLAB tonight.

You may not care about the draft but the current roster isn’t it and there is little actual value in this team. The vets we have won’t be easy to get rid of so we are a bit stuck. Draft is the best shot at this point.

I can appreciate, in the abstract, the idea of the Kings needing to improve through the draft. I'm philosophically opposed to tanking, but I get why teams like the Kings have to do it... But in the meantime, people still got to watch this ****. Telling people to, "Well, just stop watching until we win the lottery" presupposes that those people would come back.

The absolute bare minimum the organization can do while going through this is to put players on the floor that the fans who don't say "**** this!" will actually want to root for.

I can't "like" this enough.

While I agree with all of this, I don't know what the alternative is at this point. No All-Star is signing with Sacramento as a free agent and no team is trading us an All Star for these veterans. Perhaps not even for Sabonis at this point since playing on a bad Sacramento team always seems to tank a player's trade value.

All season I've been hoping that the players I do want to watch would get playing time and Doug refuses to make that happen so what recourse have I got left but to stop watching and root (quietly, privately) for enough losses to give us a chance at lottery salvation? A good GM can turn a team around quickly with a couple of well placed draft picks -- they don't even need to be top 5 picks -- but do we have a good GM? What happens in the next 6 months will go a long way toward answering that question. And if the answer is no, that's when your worst-case scenario of the fanbase evaporating is entirely plausible. Many of us are close to the edge as it is.
