Worked this up on the trade machine
Sac In: Jerry Stackhouse, Raef LaFrentz, JJ Barea, Sergio Rodriguez
Sac Out: Beno Udrih, John Salmons, Brad Miller
Dallas In: Shawn Marion
Dallas Out: JJ Barea, Jerry Stackhouse, Josh Howard
Portland In: Josh Howard, Beno Udrih
Portland Out: Sergio Rodriguez, Raef LaFrentz
Miami In: Brad Miller, John Salmons
Miami Out: Shawn Marion
Why for Sac: We'll get way more production at the PG spot for half the price. LaFrentz is an expiring. I think we'd be able to pry a pick away from somebody as well, maybe Portland. It opens up more time for Hawes and Thompson as well as more time for Greene.
Why not: We have to take on Stackhouse's contract, but I think he could be packaged easily with K9 as a pair of 2010 exprings.
Why for Dallas: Shawn Marion! He hasn't been a better player this year, but I do think he's better overall. Dallas really only has one more chance, in my opinion and Marion will be much better for them than Howard. Remember, Marion's best year's were playing with a great passing point guard, which he would have again in Jason Kidd. His numbers go up instantly, guaranteed. Plus, he's a much better defender than Howard and an excellent rebounder. And if he doesn't work out he's gone. Plus, they get rid of Stack's contract
Why not: They lose both Barea and Howard. Brown may be a big downgrade at the backup PG but Marion's a bigger upgrade over Howard. And, I think since they get to get rid of Stackhouse it's much more reasonable.
Why for Portland: They've wanted Salmons for his scoring, but I think Howard's a better scorer. Salmons is a better playmaker/ballhandler, as he does have more assists per game, but that's what Brandon Roy is for. Plus, Beno is a great extra backup PG for them. Also, despite Howard's reputation he's not the thuggy JailBlazer-type of player that the Blazers are trying to avoid. He just likes to smoke some weed and hate whitey. Maybe they give up a pick to us, or we can send them the Rox pick and they'll give us Bayless instead of Rodriguez (dreaming, i know)
Why not: Beno is overpaid for a backup. Howard may or may not be a little crazy. But overall I think turning a big expiring and a backup backup PG into a proper backup PG and an excellent scorer is a huge upgrade.
Why for Miami: They get rid of Marion who just hasn't worked out as well as they'd like. They finally get a proper center, who will play well on a winning, playoff-bound team. Plus they get another scorer to go along with Wade
Why not: Can't really think of a reason
