24 hours until the trade deadline: Will the Kings make a move?

So, there are a mere 24 hours until the NBA trade deadline. Do you think, now that the D. Howard (staying in Orl) and Bogut for Monta deals are done, things will pick up and the Kings will make some kind of move? Maybe even a small move?
I sure hope they can move Hickson for a similar prospect or a pick or something, but have my doubts.

if we do make a move everyone will be on here saying why it sucks.

If we don't make a move everyone will be on here saying why it sucks.

I just know that they can't make a move just for the sake of making a move...Either a deal is there or it's not there...We can't really blame the team if they don't make a move, because we don't know the whole story between the teams that they are talking to...

Personally I dont think they will make a move, but we'll see...

On the other hand if we aren 't able to find a good trade, this team's record isn't going anywhere but down....

Probably just a small trade, but you never know. We are one of the teams that can take on salary

No big moves, maybe a minor move.

I think their bargaining position is better once they know where they'll be drafting and once other teams decide on what direction they're going. A guy like Rondo was supposedly on the tradeblock and now not on the tradeblock. That tells me Boston was thinking of totally blowing it up but didn't have enough takers to do so. In the off-season, Allen and KG will be FAs and that may make Ainge ready to blow it up again. Portland looks like they are going to rebuild around Aldridge again, so they'll be looking for youth or picks or cap relief. The Knicks are a complete mess right now and there will be fallout from that. There will be some SFs in FA, a couple SFs in the draft, a lot of bigs in the draft, and a lot of PGs in FA. Of course, the Kings can't get any takers in FA because of their losing situation, but we'll see.

We will sit pat and make no moves or make the irrelevant nothing for nothing type moves.. Petrie is in his winter sleep so please be considerate and don't wake him up.

You've captured it all. It's a no win no matter what. As I said on another thread, Petrie will be lucky to get anyone to talk trade with him for anyone. I will guess that something will happen by tomorrow. May be we'll trade Alex English for a shorter coach.

If you were running the team now you would be sleeping too. Nobody calls and nobody answers his calls. Might as well sleep. Be kind to sleeping GMs.

While humorous, actually not true! By all accounts, Petrie has been fielding a lot of calls. Which of course is meaningless when most are call about Cousins or perhaps Tyreke. I do think something might happen, but not sure how big. If you look at Petrie's record, he's done a lot of wheeling and dealing at the draft deadline. Most of it bad however, so maybe no deal is the best deal.

But it is the same as always, no one likes what we have and certainly won't like what we might get. Petrie is probably getting lots of calls but do you think he might get one he likes? Maybe but, again, it will be trading English for a shorter coach. But whether we like it or not it'll be fun to see something happen. Surely this last game should be quite inspirational for Petrie. He might trade Alex English for Smart.

This time last year we aquired a young 20ppg SG. Hope springs eternal. Problem just is that we opedn up son many holes with our brilliant offseason work that we would need three moves to ever address them all, and will be lucky to get one.

And I'm about ready to give last years acquisition back. But probably no one would take him. Not a good time to sell sun screen in Sacramento.

We have something that other teams may like. Cap space. I'm sure he's getting a lot of calls about that, but I'm not sure if our owners are willing to spend. I might be wrong, but I believe this is the best way to use our cap space. Absorbing contracts from teams over the limit, and maybe getting some draft picks in the process.

Yep, but too bad our owners are broke and don't want to use the cap space.

This team is horrible anybody still want to spend 236 mil to keep this?

Unless it was a small pick, any other pick was premature. The way this team is playing, we are heading to a top 4 pick. This is based on statistics and not voodoo, karma, or Stern. A top 4 pick would give us Davis, Drummond, Kidd-Gilchrist, or Barnes or any other top 4 pick that might be revealed in the NCAA tournament. All of these would be a starter at SF or PF/C for the Kings and probably would eventually be better than Tyreke and Thornton. At least they are in that range and would be starters. That would change our needs in a trade. As I would like us to draft BPA, I want no doors closed prior to the draft. A big trade now, such as Thornton for Granger, would shut one door where we would be almost forced to pick Davis or Drummiond. Another trade such as for Okafor would make a need for a big in the draft hardly urgent and would limit is to SFs. I don't want a limit on who we can draft.

I think making no trades was absolutely the correct move based on a very unusual and deep college draft.

What's the hurry? A draft now would leave us right where we are with perhaps a marginal improvement.
