2025 Workouts

The Kings brought in six NBA prospects for their first pre-draft workout Monday at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.

The group featured Texas Tech star Darrion Williams, a Sacramento native who spent two years at Capital Christian High School before going to Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas. Others included Missouri guard Tamar Bates, Florida center Rueben Chinyelu, Georgia guard Silas Demary, Villanova guard Wooga Poplar and Kentucky center Amari Williams.

An interesting side story to the workouts, is that the Kings brought in Jeremiah Fears, one of the best PG's in the draft, and a lottery pick, for a meeting. He didn't workout, at least to my knowledge. Makes one wonder if the Kings are cooking up a way to trade up into the lottery. It wouldn't be cheap.

As far as PG's go, the lottery player that I really like, and think has a chance to be a star in the league is V.J. Edgecombe. He's a lot of fun to watch and a terrific athlete

Wouldn't mind seeing the Kings land someone like RJ Felton as an undrafted FA if he makes it out. He definitely fits that mold of a Dort type physically.

Kings hosted their second pre-draft workout group:

The second group featured Tennessee guard Zakai Ziegler, East Carolina wing RJ Felton, Perth Wildcats wing Ben Henshall, Mississippi State forward Cameron Matthews, UAB forward Yaxel Lendeborg* and Oklahoma State forward Jalon Moore.

* It was later reported Yaxel Lendeborg withdrew his name from the 2025 draft.

The Kings Announce Pre-Draft Workout With NCAA Champion Guard:
The Sacramento Kings are hosting Florida Gators guard Alijah Martin for a pre-draft workout.

The Kings sure have been working out the beefy, physical guards. Maybe the love for that type wasn't a Monte thing? Davion, Carter, plenty of workouts to that end so far this year. They look to be going next Dort hunting this offseason. I like it.

Arthur Kaluma got a generous write up from the no ceilings team. Sounds like he can at least get to the rim.

Kaluma was on my draft wish list a couple years ago when they thought he might enter the draft. Kinda fell off the radar a bit the last couple years.

Alijah Martin is a favorite among some draft nerds. Would be a good choice in the second round given the circumstance.

Yeah Martin would be a solid pick up and a potential PG depth type. I've seen him undrafted mostly, but even at 42 I think someone like him in a draft like this if the Kings thought he might not make it out could be a good idea just to take him. I liked what I saw out his defense and ball handling at the combine.

"They want their mindset to be defence".

Curious how this manifests over the offseason and into the regular season.

Depending on what trades they make and/or signings we'll know for sure whether this is all BS like usual. You want to get better defensively? Play Carter and Keon for starters, it was already trending that way last season. Carter's +/- at the end of last season was crazy enough to push him near the upper end of the EPM stat amongst all rookies despite playing less than half the season and getting erratic minutes off the bench.

I'd say stay away from the skinnier combo guards but Proctor has some pretty legit shot creation. I'd be surprised if he lasts to 42 unless teams are scared away from his lack of elite athletic ability.

A perspective on Mohamed Diawara. 6’9 with a 7’3 wingspan plus a tight handle sounds like a player we should have interest in. If we end up with an additional second rounder this year in a Deebo trade, he would be a good draft and stash candidate.

Not all players are guaranteed to have been reported, but these are the players that are known to have worked out for the Kings under the tenure of new GM Scott Perry.

Nembhard would be good if we are stupid enough to trade Devin.

Doesn't really replace anything at all on the defensive end though. Nembhard is a good player and while he could end up in a great situation that allows him to rack up assists, he's still a 5'11" PG. Most PG's that size need to be scoring machines to survive historically. And even then it's hit and miss. If Devin were headed out the only player I'd be OK seeing as a replacement would be Alijah Martin because they'd be recouping some defense and athletic ability albeit on a lower ceiling prospect perhaps. If the Kings had their hands on a Davion and a Devin only to have neither while just trading Fox out of the way then that just compounds every single development miscue the Kings have committed for the last 15 years+. When you add it into the times being what they are where defensive guard play is >>> almost anything else right now it's a sign that nothing has changed.
