That Houston-Hawks trade is wild too. Lot to unpack there.

Atlanta sends out the draft rights to Alpha Kaba (what a name from the way back machine) to Houston for TyTy Washington (He's free!), Usman Garuba(this is a dump) '28 HOU 2nd, '25 MIN 2nd and $1.1MM cash -- via Lauren L. Williams

Houston pays to clear even more space here...

Edy Tavares has recieved an offer from the Blazers but there's some type of tie up with his contract buyout with Real Madrid!

Cool! I hope to see Edy back in the NBA, I feel like he belongs.

Thunder sign Vasa Micic for 3 years /23.5 million will he be the first Serbian PG to not suck in the NBA? Gross overpay and terrible fit with the Thunder as well will be interesting to see how it plays out.
Yeah I kinda wish he had a more stable role there in OKC. I'm not sure he even cracks their rotation right now. Maybe back-up I guess? But they just spent a lotto pick on Cason Wallace, so who gets squeezed?

He literally said they had to assure him of like starters minutes in order for him to come to the NBA for any team. I don't get it with Giddy/SGA/Carson why the Thunder would make that move maybe they are planning to move Giddy + assets for star?

yes we shall see this is interesting. They have a whole lot of players with PG skills now, should be a fun team to watch, they should be much improved.

Word is the Jazz tried to trade for his rights the most and I'd think he'd have fit better there.

Reaves just signed for 56/4y, as much I hate them, I think they are doing quite well so far
TP and Hayes are good value bets, but they're not like real needle movers. 8th-10th man types. Vincent is their Schroeder replacement. While I like Reaves and Rui, both guys are being paid like quality starters, so they'll need to prove they can sustain that performance.

Overall, they're about the same as they were post-deadline. Good, much improved, but still entirely reliant on LeBron and AD to stay healthy.

Rui is almost the anti-HB in that he had a couple of good playoff games that somehow made everyone forget that he short sub-30% from three with the Lakers prior to the postseason.

Surely what will happen is they are actually going to play these "3 and 4 PG lineups" , and Micic is the purest PG of the bunch the other guys Shai, Tre Mann and Cason Wallace are closer to combo guards, and Wallace being a beast defesnively helps make them interchangable and then theres Giddey whos a point forward (thne they have Ousmane Dieng whos supposed to be point-forwardy as well, but this is a wait and see situation. remains to be seen.)

sounds bizarre but I bet thats what we'll hear... Holmgren will allow them to play some punishing smallball looks though.. Interested to see how Sabonis deals with it tbh, its not going to look like something we faced last season with Chet around, I dont think.

I really don't understand what the rockets are doing. They had a lot of young talent (some of it questionable but high draft picks at least) and they hired a coach who was last seen in the NBA Finals before he got caught in a questionable extramarital affair who presumably doesn't want to coach a bunch of babies, so they'll just sign everyone willing to sign I guess?

Too lazy to do their depth chart but how many of those young guys just got buried?

Oh wow... Houston is sure gonna look a whole lot different next year, they've added some real grit in spots they were getting bullied in..

Even with all the $$$ they spent, that team goes as far as Jalen Green takes them, which is how they should be setup tbh. I kinda prefer what they've done, or the idea behind it, than the all-in on Harden many expected during the season. Harden is pissed at Green btw, it's gonna be a good show on their first matchup next season I guarantee that one.

I mean, they just paid Brooks and FVV to be full-time starters. So:

FVV || KPJ
Jalen Green || Thomspon? || Josh Christopher?
Brooks || Martin Jr. || Tate || Cam Whitmore.
Jabari Smith? || Tari Eason?
Sengun || Landale

I'm calling about Martin and Tari Eason. See what the asking price is there. There's like 0 room for them to develop

This off-season feels a lot like 2016. I've actually liked like 3 FA deals this summer.
Except the FA crop is even weaker and there's a new CBA that isn't kind to mega-spendy teams.

I'm really confused how the Lakers and Suns were able to sign guys to anything that wasn't vet minimums. But I think once the ink dries on all those deals they will be pretty much locked down.

When your really stacking losses like Houston's been doing, part of thats because the competition is sizing them up and looking for weak spots to sortr of punk.. Thats how it goes for super young tanking teams in the NBA.. and honestly Houston allowed this situation n didnt solve it because they were tanking but -

If you look at where the Rockets biggest deficiencies in sort of not being competitve and whats holding back the areas of the team that is competitive, far and away it was their PG position..

Now they've got Van Vleet and Patty Mills. Massive upgrades. Massive help for Jalen Green, he gets to focus on scoring and being the star SG rather than being a combo guard.

Well the thing is Martin has sorta been very publicly been trying to angle out of there since at least last trade deadline. But he's totally unrestricted next summer and due for a nice raise, so he's the odd man out, they might just value keeping him as a rental possible trade piece for the year, if some playoff hopefulls SF gets injured they might pay up to rent him. Houston's already got Martins replacement(Cam Whitmore) there thats how far his foot is out the door

Eason was solid for them as a rook. I'm not sure they'll give up on him so fast. He's definitely a rotation guy for just about every team so he might be quite costly to procure just cuz I'd imagine there'd be quite a market. But yeah i mean if we could have him instead of Kessler Edwards, that'd be a noticeable upgrade tbh.
