2016 NBA Draft Discussion

Maybe the new front office has a longer term vision of the draft than filling holes for next year (usually a wise strategy). I would guess they chose who they determined were the best player available for the team in the long run (I highly doubt anyone on this board knows more about Papa than they do). Using the draft for any other purpose was likely never the number one consideration. They may not be right in the end, but to freak out on the night of the draft is pretty shortsighted (calling all Knicks fans from last years draft....)
We are drafting like the Spurs. Also, the fact that we have a decent coach this year probably changed out tack slightly. Not as if we were gonna get a big impact player in this year's draft. To me it shows a cognizant, engaged FO. I like it.

Curious, what is cognizant about drafting raw players at positions we don't need?

And we aren't drafting at all like the Spurs. They stash guys that they don't need since they are stacked or pick talented upper classmen that slide to later in the first. We didn't do that.

Well if KK is gone, Big George makes sense, cheaper, but bigger and more mobile with a softer touch. Richardson is our 2 guard project, so we still need a vet there. Skal is a high level talent that needs guidance and work, but he has the chance to become really good if he works hard enough for it. Built in the same mold as WCS, but his jump shooting is light years better, though he's not as good defensively. In 3 years, we will have the best front court period. PG and SG remain large issues.

He's a 40%-45% 3pt shooter the last three years which is fine by me. And he's a senior so I assume he has put in a lot of work and should be able to contribute right away (if we end up keeping him and he's good enough to make the team)
