Alright, we as a fanbase have taken a licking but keep on ticking, and so no matter how good or not so good -- and its mostly not so good -- things are going on other fronts, year in and year out we hold our annual Tropical Island Drafts. This year will be no different. They can screw up however they like, we will keep the light on until they finally get it right (and its getting about time now).
The schtick is always the same: you, and your fellow drafters, are each stuck on your own desert island for eternity. Which music, movies, books, cars, girls etc. etc. will you draft to take along for eternity? You and normally somehwere between 12-16 total drafters take turn drafting the items, and then when the draft is over, we run playoff brackets using polls to determine who put together the best (or at least most popular) list.
Last year the drafts were for Movies and Musical Artists . In previous years we have had, amongst others, drafts for all time Kings players, all time NBA players, Cars, Super Heroes, Musical Singles, Musical Albums, another movie draft, and of course Hot Babes.
This year the drafts planned thus far will be the following:
1) Authors (every book or article every written by)
2) Musical Singles (a repeat of the Ipod Single draft from 4 years ago -- draft single songs)
3) Hot Babes II (the classic returns)
4) and possibly Dashing Dudes or some such, as a counterpart to the Hot Babes draft, if the ladies ever get their act together and actually put together a list of drafters.
This thread will function as the amin signup and info thread for the others. If you are interested in any of the drafts, post your interest here and I'll add you to one of the lists -- once a draft starts to pile up drafters, a separate thread will be created for it to discuss rules, signup, etc. Authors already has sucha thread here: Tropical Island Authors Thread. We like to slightly stagger these drafts just so they will get us through the summer, but if a list fills up, I see no reason to dealy the start of the draft too long.
