2009-10 Kings draft position thread

Historically we have lost ties and dropped... so ya might figure possibly 8th now... but so what, there are still 12 games left..

Of the games left there are 5 that are very winnable... and possibly a couple playoff teams we could play spoilers.

Still, where the standings are as of now, 10 would be the absolute lowest I see us dropping no matter how many wins... that's it, 10th... at best though?... I say 8th.

We obviously aren't tanking, and our schedule is just easier than the other bottom teams..

atleast if we pick 8-10 Petrie will not feel as judged when he reaches for great talent.

8-10 is almost a lock Greg Monroe will be wearing Bibby's number.

All of my rooting for the pacers is starting to work, but the pistons and wizards are a different story entirely. Man do these guys suck. Seems like the pacers, us, and the knicks have no tanking in their blood. And all if these other teams in the bottom eight of the lg are just really that bad, or they want to increase their chances at WallTurnerFavorsCousins (yes everyone wants them and you know you do too). Sigh... I am right there with you Kmart, our screen names are kind of similar man... An eye for an eye right!

Robbed on position, yes... Robbed on who we drafted, I think not. Jennings is a punk, and Curry I just do not see as having more potential then Tyreke. After watching Johnson today and the Orangemen I really hope we take Johnson if he is the BPA when it comes our turn. If you have seen the mock draft at Draft Xpress you will see they have us down for the #8 pick and we are picking Wesley Johnson... hey it could happen!

Since the Knicks have no first round pick, no surprise there. Actually if they want to attract big names in the offseason its in their best interest to look as competitive as possible. Your right about Washington and Detroit though.

We're in a 3-way tie with Indiana and Philly for 6th place.

I wouldn't be that upset if we could land 6th place. Were sure to get a good player if we end up picking there, and it will give us a couple more ping pong balls for a shot of moving up.

I we get 1st, wall. If we get 7th or later, trade down, for more picks in the 2nd round.

Its not quantity that we need. Its quality. For the most part there's a reason why second round picks are second round picks. Its because they're not as good as a player projected at number 8 or 9 in the first round. This isn't the NFL draft where you get quality all the way through the 3rd round, and sometimes the fourth round. If we end up picking tenth, we'll still get a good player. Maybe a very good player.

Detroit plays the Pacers tonight! Someone has to lose....right? ;)
Looks like the Clippers are pulling out all stops to beat us to the #8 spot.

Update. We're still stuck in the middle of the pack, with only one woss separating 8th from 5th.

1. NJN 7-63 .100
2. MIN 14-57 .197
3. GSW 19-50 .275
4. WAS 21-47 .309
5. DET 23-47 .329
6-7. PHI/SAC 24-47 .338
8. IND 24-46 .343
9. NYK 25-45 .357
10. LAC 26-44 .371

Golden State is an excellent tanking team. Nelson should be given an award. He obviously wants Cousins, and has a pretty good chance of getting him. Put Cousins in with their quickness and they are going to be pretty good.

Ellis
Curry
Maggette
Randolph
Cousins

Boo.

Cousins is potentially going to be a dominant big in the NBA,

Which is why Nellie will alienate him, jerk him around, and ultimately chase him out of town.

Hopefully we'll be able to snatch him away when that happens.

Whiteside or Cousins. While cousins is more polished; whiteside may have a higher ceiling. It all depends on if you think Evans can create for whiteside. I think 1s and 2s are a dime a dozen and we should draft a big just in case we have to mov hawes or more likely JT.

I think we can forget about Cousins.... Sigh...

... Whiteside could be pretty awesome though.

As long as we stay top 6, we should be good.. Maybe even top 8. If we drop to pick 10 or lower, I think we're in "hope for a rotation player" territory.

In that case I'd trade the pick, I don't want another SF unless we're getting someone that can be Durant good...I really want a Center, our best shot would be Aldrich or Whiteside, both offer what we need out of the center position and either one and Spencer at Center you'd get the offense guy and the guy who can rebound and play defense.
