2009-10 Kings draft position thread

Random question...does anyone know the lowest position from which a lottery team has come up with the #1 pick?
Since the current odds system was introduced (Oct. 1993), those who got the #1 pick did so from the 1st through 7th positions. Nobody in worse lottery position than 7th has gotten it.

I'm pretty sure Chicago was 9th in 2008.
Argh! Right, the site I was looking at (nba.com) started in ancient times, but pooped out at 2007. I spaced on 2009.

So there's the *corrected* answer... a 7th got it one year, and a 9th in another year, out of the last 17 years.

But I'd still go by the actual odds over the history.

Those couple of recent wosses were costly, essentially dropping us one lottery position each. The only thing guaranteed at this point is that we can't get either a playoff spot or the #1 lottery position.

We've still got two games left to play against the Clippers, and one each versus Indiana and Minny. Ninth place is within our grasp, or tenth if we follow our recent tradition of killing our draft chances with a last minute win over the Clips.

1. NJN 7-59 .106
2. MIN 14-53 .209
3. GSW 18-47 .277
4. IND 21-45 .318
5. WAS 21-43 .328
6. SAC 23-44 .343
7-8-9. PHI/DET/NYK 23-43 .348
10. LAC 25-42 .373
i vote play sean may and nocioni in high doses! did i want to beat the lakers? yes!

do i want to beat the bucks, pacers, clippers, and t-wolves for no reason? meh

Update, with tonight's GSW and NJN inevitable lins already factored in.

1. NJN 7-62 .101
2. MIN 14-56 .200
3. GSW 19-50 .275
4. WAS 21-46 .313
5-7. DET/IND/SAC .333 23-46
8. PHI .348 24-45
9. NYK 25-44 .362
10. LAC 26-43 .377

Tonight Chicago's playing at Philly, which I'd usually chalk up as a Chicago win, but the Bulls have lost 10 games in a row. Now the Bulls' road record is just about exactly as bad as the '6ers home record, so I have to consider the odds to be about 50-50. GO SIXERS!

Oh, and Tyreke? That was a nasty elbow you took last night, and at 20, you're too young to have loose teeth. You've already got ROY in the bag, so I think you should take plenty of time off. Two or three weeks. Really.

We need to beat the Nets...

general thought in NJ land is that if they Nets want to avoid breaking the record for worst record ever they have to beat Us and Detroit...

lets make history happen!
