2006 Draft

Barring anything crazy, Rudy Gay will be the consensus top pick in the draft. I would love to get Splitter, Boone, or Sheldon Williams, yeomen all. Morrison is a REALLY good player, but what the heck would this Kings team do with him? It's going to be another deep PG draft. Actually, this should be a pretty interesting draft because anybody who considers himself a player will be declaring, as the High School class of '06 is LOADED. This is the year to get out and get your first round money, because next year's freshmen class will be the best in over a decade.

This is really pointless. There are TWO seasons to play before the draft happens- the NCAA and the NBA season. Any number of players could break out and go higher, or get injured or just have a bad season and go down in the draft order. Equally, any NBA team could rise or fall by a great margin in the standings. I cannot imagine any conceivable utility from doing this. Maybe ranking the college players would be an interesting task, but not attempting to assign them to a team. A straight up player rankings would be a much better read, and far more sane.

It everyone thinks it's pointless, the best thing to do is just ignore it...and it will soon drop into thread anonymity in the back recesses of the archives.

;)

I agree, there are any number of possibilities to come before the draft.

Also, I agree, it is interesting to watch it all develop from the very beginning, and also to browse through some scouting reports.

As far as high school players go, doesn't the CBA one-year-out-of-high-school rule apply right away, this year? Foreign 18 year olds can still be drafted, I believe, but as far as I know, there will be no more American high school players to go right into the draft. If there were, I had heard from SI and ESPN and such that Greg Oden would be the very obvious #1 choice, or at least two behind Rudy Gay.

I advise Marco Belinelli from Italy. He's a SG and he's only 19. In his last 4 matches he shots 21/31 from the arc. He made 22 points in a quarter vs Rome with 6 3pointer. Bargnani and Belinelli are the most incredible teenplayer that I ever seen. Maybe Belinelli will come to USA in the 2007.
Bargnani is better than Nowitzki. Good luck.

Why have we got the pick number 5?

Sac has the 5th pick? Or is this based on the current number of wins/losses and will change later?

It is based entirely on the standings as of the date the thread was started. Since we still have almost 70 games to play, it is pretty pointless. :p
