If he has an impressive/great season, I agree.
Which I am expecting him to.
$$$ even if he does have an "impressive" season, which I rather doubt he will given the competition. Peja's not an intangibles off-the-ball guy. He needs shots to be effective. The one thing we do not have enough of to go around.
Slightly off topic, but somewhat related to who has an impressive season and who does not:
Structure of our team is interesting right now.
a) we have four guys who could legitimately score 20.
b) Mike and Brad appear solidly set up to stay -- each has a solid defensive backup (Hart/Skinner) behind him, but not a guy you would start. Each has a longterm deal, and they play the two most difficult positions to fill. They do not need to have huge years to still be easily the best options at those spots.
c) SAR and KT are in a virtual platoon. SAR should win that as the more talented player, although he's been enigmatic in the early going here. When that happens looks like KT may be unhappy. If SAR has a good season and KT is stuck on the bench permanently, put a tick next to KT's name as a potential ex-King.
d) and here's the interesting part -- Peja and Bonzi are unrestricted FA's this summer. Both are ending contracts. And it just so happens that sitting behind them, now that we seem to be playing Garcia at SF, are our two young 1st round picks of the last 2 years. They are young, they are far cheaper. Could we be setting things up to have Kevin and Cisco take over next year and let Bonzi/Peja walk + save $20 mil in cap room in the process? If the kids show and either one of the Peja/Bonzi pair struggle, would not surprise me if that's being considered.
