Maybe we need to just go big and put Sabonis back at the 4. If he has lost some lift he is going to get gobbled up by all the centers that are bigger than him, and that list is long. He did have 18 boards tonight but he couldn’t do anything in the paint offensively and still lost boards he shouldn’t have.

This deadline will be interesting. Domas really isn't the type that you're going to have half the league beating your door down with great packages if they did decide to deal him unfortunately. However the Kings better not waste an entire year floating around purgatory level trying to wait for immense value should it come to that. These young guys need to be out there getting time and be allowed to make mistakes if this heads downhill. That's how they'll learn. That's how the Kings won't be starting from total ground zero without even an educated guess as to how to proceed in the aftermath.
There are so few teams that can even use Sabonis and he's a win now piece. There maybe only 2-3 teams that fit (Det, GSW, and maybe Cavs). I am not sure we can get good value out of him.

Could it be that we're actually bad enough for a top 5 draft pick?

This no mans land is basketball hell but I still can see this team ripping off a string of W's when the offense is rolling. The zone worked tonight but go zone like that against fully stocked teams and they'll be giving up 150 a night. It was interesting, this game DC just stuck with that zone. Perhaps a sign he realizes the defense thing is a pipe dream.

Memphis can use Sabonis and they have 2 FIRST rounders in the upcoming 26’ draft class…

That’s a quick reset/rebuild if you ask me. 3 first rounders this upcoming year if you include ours with possible future 1st round draft capital (pretty sure we can get a package with 3 first rounders for Sabonis since they got a haul for Bane)

His closing lineup probably indicates that as well

Yeah it's going to be tough. This has the makings of kind of being a Fox sort of thing. Where Domas' agent puts the deal together. This time they better not just crapshoot on big money though. If they can cut salary, get some draft capital, etc. go for it.

Teams that are definitely Worse than the Kings

Jazz
Wizards
Hornets
Nets

Possibly worse than the Kings or at least on par

Raptors
Trail Blazers
Bulls
Suns

A lot will also depend on injuries.

At minimum I think the kings will get a top 8-10 pick.

If they move Sabonis, Detroit makes sense because the Pistons are stuck in good but not good enough and need to make a move. It would have to be Harris and maybe Holland. Not sure how Detroit feels about him

The teams that have multiple 1st rounders in this upcoming 26’ draft class:

Memphis (2)
Hornets (2)
Okc (3)

I’m pretty sure any of these teams can use Sabonis (aside from Okc). I’m confident we can unload Sabonis for 3 1st rounders

Devin Carter played well tonight, given the opportunity: in 8 minutes, he had 4 points without a miss, a rebound, an assist, two steals, no fouls. He paired well with Ellis. I wanted to see those two guys try to slow down OKC in the second half, but nothing doing.

Also, the rotations made a lot more sense tonight, even if Westbrook was the wrong guy on the court at the end of the game--it should have been Ellis or Monk, who went out with 6:13 remaining, after making a steal with an assist on the fast break. Everyone here is saying "Blow it up!" when Sacramento took the defending champions to the limit on their own floor.

Watching the Trailblazers - they are certainly better......

They have more cohesion but they don’t have enough top end talent. Sharpe is Jalen Green until he proves otherwise and the rest are rock solid role players. I’m guessing they are hoping for a big leap from him paired with Dame next season.

Hate to be the bad guy but this is without 2 of their top 3 players (Jalen Williams and Chet Holmgren)

Stopping and containing are 2 different things. Keegan can possibly contain. Stopping the mvp may not be realistic. Either way who will stop/contain Jdub or Chet?
Hold Gilgeous-Alexander to 21 points instead of 31 points, and you win the game.

The defeatism around here is nauseating.

It’s not defeatism, it’s literally just being honest. Trust me I’ve been a kings fan for over 34 years and will continue being one. At some point you have to be honest if you truly want to improve as a team

The last 13 championships have been lead by teams with a superstar. I say 13 because the 14th year could be considered an upset with Dallas beating the Heat (Dirk was arguably better than Sabonis)

It's a big part of why some will never fully commit to building towards something. Never willing to take a step back, with then a better chance at taking a few steps forward
