So, you're perfectly fine with a coach who hasn't coached a game, but want the head of a GM six days after free agency. Logic is pure I shall say.
Here's logic for you. Pete done things some of us don't agree on because we have seen his aggressive expansion in the last 6 or so days. Coach Malone on the other hand hasn't done anything warrant a public outcry.

While I don't agree on the premise of the thread, here's the logic of why he started this and is "perfectly fine" with the coach who hasn't coached a game. It's called "if it isn't break, don't fix it".

As baffled as I am by Pete's moves I have to say you give the guy a full season before you call for his head. To do so before July 10th is like shooting your dog because he drools. Lets wait to see if it's rabies first kids.

If Malone starts saying things like he is going to model our offence on the 60s Globetrotters, I think the boards opinion of him will start changing.

OK EVERYONE CALM DOWN!

SERIOUSLY.... im not the biggest fan of whats transpired so far either but its not like the first game of the season is tomorrow. Todays Landry move addresses a few things.

#1 IS A TOTALY BELIEVER IN MIKE MALONE! and is already 100% bought in to the system! (thats important, 1st time coach with a young Cousins to deal with)
#2 Is a seasoned vet with / quality character guy/ hard worker
#3 Can ACTUALLY play the game of basketball. sure he isn't gonna be an all-star but is very efficient. Lots of guys that are awful making more $$$

so the person that benefits the most from this is Mike Malone.

The fact is if our line up looks like this game 1 of the season i'll join in with the rest of you but good lord wait to see who we find to play SF at least.

The head coach has yet to do anything stupid to damage the team.

The GM is making me pine for Petrie already.
1. I am pretty sure Malone OKed the Tyreke situation, if not initiated it. I know he said that he liked Tyreke. So did Pete.
2. Do you really think that Carl's signing has nothing to do with Malone who coached him last year?

Great post... couldn't agree more!

I've been away since the 3rd visiting family out of town (in Sacramento of all places) and access to internet was limited.

I missed out on all the hoopla these past few days. I chimed in with a post of anger about the Reke trade, but other then that have kept quiet. All I can say is, my God at the people attempting to justify the moves that have been made. Reke had a historical rookie season, got hit with injuries, and finally got coached by someone who played him out of position and killed his minutes. He was the face of this franchise (along with DMC). You got rid of a potential superstar for a pure pg on a team with no shooters. A team needs superstars to win first, not players that play the book definition of a position. You surround your star with the role players, not trade your star for one.

Then, you go ahead and tie up $26 million for the next 4 years on Carl Landry. He's a good player on a contending team, but not a player that's going to turn you into a contender.

Kings are on a downward spiral and it's only July 6th. I have no faith in this group on keeping DMC. But I do know that some of you will find a way to justify that as well.

It may be valid to level distrust at Pete because the moves he is making are irreversible or will take years to fix. Identify a need and fix it. He targeted Andre and when they missed him he didn't go after similar players he went a totally different direction. If there was a plan in place then if you miss the player you are targeting you change to a similar player and move on with the plan.

The only pattern that can be identified from the outside on these moves is we are loading up in certain positions so likely we will see a trade. We have a giant hole at SF so it will likely be for one of those. However what if the dross we have to give away doesn't entice a team or we have to give away too much? We are left with starting a season loaded at the guard and PF positions with Defenseless players.

At this point in time this "plan" or pete's looks like a failure. If it has owner and coach support I am disappointed in their Bball IQ. Malone needs to be careful if he is setup for failure he may not get another chance at Head coach in the NBA.

I'm tired of worrying about this stupid franchise. New owners, new GM, same idiotic moves. My business just recently got destroyed in a building fire, I'm drowning in debt and to have to worry about some people making millions to do their job in a s**** manner isn't something I want to add to my already existing issues. Why is it so hard to realize that when you have potential star players you should hire a proper coach and surround them with quality shooters and role players? My god, it's like they missed the memo or something. I still love this team, but wake me up when the offseason is over and they actually executed a plan properly.

This is his first year as a GM.. Yeah that's not a good excuse but look at the situation he was brought into.. It was terrible.. Beyond terrible other then cousins, Tyreke and foresay JT. Give him at least 2 seasons before you harp him so bad

Until Malone has his first 5 game losing streak?
Exactly. I already know how this plays out. As soon as the Kings have a rough stretch (and it can be counted on to happen soon enough) people on this forum will be calling for Malone's head and saying he doesn't know how to properly utilize Cousins. Had Evans stayed it would have been the same thing........Malone is holding him back and doesn't know how to use him correctly.

You at least have to give him a year to see how this works out. I disagree strongly with some of the moves so far, but it is just way too early to be calling for his head. Petrie did far worse in his last 5 or 6 years, so I'm willing to at least see how this works out, even though my instincts are telling me it won't be pretty.

Actually the way PDA is going he's going to make Malone almost immune to criticism. Maybe that was all the sneaky plan. have the nerdy little accountant guy come in, fall on his sword taking the blame, and buy the coach some time.

I hardly doubt Landry was brought in to be the future starting power forward. It also sounds like the Warriors are pretty bummed to be losing him. You know, a team that actually won some god damn games last year with him being a big part. He's a solid player for cheap off the bench. Simple as that.

The other thing. Last time I checked there was ONE team in the league that made a run at Tyreke at 11 mil a year. PDA was not the only guy that passed at that price tag. Remember that.

It is long since beyond embarrassing.
Yeah, I don’t see anybody really disagreeing that 75% of the current roster is gone in 47 months.

So, there is no way to objectively measure how this move fits this over the relatively short term of two seasons from now.

There is no way Carl Landry’s 4 year deal on it's own generates this type of heat. It can’t be the fit … because you are saying he doesn’t fit with players that are mostly going to walk or be flopped for 8-12 men the GM hopes might fit better. Strange.

A lot of the zealots on the board had dreams of a 1999 turnaround and/or hopes and dreams that involved Evans, Patterson, IT ect, who they are very attached to. I’d be shocked if those players were around next year. You don’t have to like these moves … but Landry at this price shouldn’t cause a monkey poop fight at the zoo.

Oh, speaking of 1999, a good 1/3 of the town killed the Valde signing at the time. The team should have signed Ike Austin. He was bigger, stronger, and could block shots. This is not my opinion. That’s a fact.

It’s a compelling read, so don’t let us slow you down … but this is so bizarre.

Yes, they want the GM to fail. It's a master plan. Little nerdy guy? Wow.

It's clear: 10% of this is knee jerk; 20% is people upset that the team is about to start a slow rebuild, yet not even saying that's what has them made; and 70% of the folks are upset they let Tyreke walk and compounded that with their false assumption that the Kings would sign an impact free agent in the last 48 hours.

Absolute joke. This is an embarrassment. Blah blah blah, but it's painfully obvious some of us could do a better job than this. I'm losing all heart with all of the bat-**** insane moves that are taking place.

He should be ashamed to be making the same mistakes over and over again. Mind-boggling to be honest.

6 days into free agency...repeat after me, 6 days.

Nothing has been bat**** crazy. Absolutely nothing.

Iggy used us as a leveraging piece and we rescinded our offer rather than being used like little bitches.
Tyreke wasn't worth $11 mil to not fit in with Cousins from the FO's perspective. Nothing preposterous about that.
Calderon decided to sign with Dallas.
Landry for $6.5 a pop is not bad at all for a big off the bench.

But, repeat after me. 6 days since free agency began.
Come back after all trades and signings have been completed by training camp and then berate PDA and the rest of the front office.

Landry is not coming cheap. This is the contract that, to use Reke logic, NOBODY has wanted to pay him for year after year as he has bounced around the league. Except us.

And no, he can't be the starting PF next to Cousins. Just can't. No defensive hope there. You literally could not win more than half your games unless Cousins became a 25-15 guy. If he's here, its as a 6th man, or a confirmation that PDA is a moron. I'm not going to place bets on which it is until I see the followup move.

P.S. yes Golden State is so disappointed to be losing him that they manufactured heavy free agency money and then spent it on everybody else but he and Jarret Jack. I could almost see that backfiring on them BTW, but still, the only reason Landry is not there is because they felt they could do better. He is a godo guy, and everybody will always say sorry to see the good guy go. But talent talks. Unless you're us.

It's funny how people say Landry didn't fit the team and conveniently ignore the lack of coaching while simultaneously extending the coaching excuse to Tyreke. Jason Thompson succeeded in spite of bad coaching, so why can't Tyreke.
