New era, new rules. Finding a defensive big is easier said than done, and we just came agonizingly close. But other than that, this is a good day for us so far. We somehow pulled a potential star out of our hat with the #7 pick in a historically maligned draft. Maybe the only potential star on the board. Vivek was right!

Even the anti Reke at PG crowd must acknowledge he's never had a shooter like McLemore next to him. He'll have better spacing than he's ever had. He'll also likely have the best NBA coach he's ever played for, by a good amount as well, as well as most likely a real system to play in for the first time. And, they're a better defensive pairing potentially than anything we've thrown out there next to Reke previously.

The question just is, is McLemore here to join Reke or replace him, and that is something I'd hope someone in our organization touches on today. If you're planning on a Reke/McLEmore backourt you'd come out and say it right away due to the excitement surrounding the potential fit together.

He had Thornton with him and it didn't mesh all that well.

Here's the facts: Nobody outside of Sacramento fanbase thinks Tyreke can play PG for long periods. We've seen the evidence on the court. He doesn't see the floor, he makes bad decisions on the break, and he doesn't get into the offense quickly. The Point Guard game is NOT his game and never was. The only reason he was at PG was because the organization needed a star and the best way to spotlight Tyreke was to let him have the ball all the time. The team tanked hard and let him do what he wanted. It worked and he got RoY, but it was not a winning strategy. There has been a bevy of PGs from Reke's draft and after that have shown more at the PG position than he has. The only excuse for thinking Tyreke can play PG at this point in time is plain old stupidity or that you're aiming to replicate that tank from his rookie year.

The only answer is that someone is getting moved. Maybe Tyreke or maybe even Mclemore. The only worry is that the team isn't looking for a starting PG yet and that has been a major hole on the team, and PG has become an increasingly important position in the NBA.

McLemore has considerably more upside than MT, is superior moving off the ball, more consistent shooter, much more athletic, better defender, and much cheaper at this point.

More upside, yes. But upside just that, upside.

Could McLenmore be better than MT? Of course, he absolutely has the potential. And I'll be rooting for BMC to succeed.

But there are also question marks regarding him, BMC is not a sure thing. MT, for all his flaws, has at least proven he can score. BMC hasn't proven that. He could turns out to be a big time scorer, but only God knows if he fulfills that destiny.

This is the real beauty of how this played out for us. Noel Schmoel.

This is about as good as it could have gone for us now.

I mean, do you wanna spend an asset to trade up to get Noel, or do you wanna get a potentially double all star backcourt with DEFENSE and still have a plenty of chips to get Adams and maybe even Snell... then you've got a team with GREAT potential both ways.

Yeah, the word was that Thornton was dangled. He's still there dangling. Same with Jimmer.

From the games i've watched Ben he is a considerably better passer then MT aswell.

Ben has that just pure overall talent feeling, like you just know his weaknesses will get better, and none of them will be an major deficiency.

Adams is a typical OKC pick. Funny how the best teams stockpile defensive big men.

Sure you squint and have a front office with vision and you:

-- draft McLemore
-- trade Thornton and/or Jimmer and/or Salmons etc.
-- resign Reke
-- sign Iggy

And go:
C- Cousins
PF- Patterson
SF- Iggy
SG- McLemore
PG- Evans

And have plenty of ballhandling/creativity/ways to attack, potentially dominant perimeter defense if Malone can coach it, and on almost every night one of our 3 littles is going to get to bulldoze a wildly undersized PG.

Now how many times have you actually seen one of these plans work out like that for us?

I'd take Dorell Wright or Matt Barnes also. I'd prefer Iggy but thornton would have to go. At this point Im not sure anybody wants Thornton. I'd keep Salmons as a backup SG/SF defender and ball handling skills that is a slight threat from outside.

Those are the facts if you choose to use no stats and only jaded dislike of a guy for evaluation, or like you said you live outside of Sac and don't watch Reke. His vision is fine, his decision making is fine, his play at point guard has been limited because our coaching and offensive system has been terrible. We should be very excited about a Reke/Mclemore backcourt.
