...Worse, other players probably are trying to get Cousins angry anyway they can to provoke him. Why? Because they know that a good percentage of time it is going to work. They can throw off his game at the least, get him in foul trouble or maybe even get him out of the game...
I think that's what was happening in Dallas. And I think it happened in our previous several games, too. Cousins has done an excellent job thus far of not letting them get into his head and I hope he can keep it up. Shaq used to talk about how rarely people were called for fouls against him unless they were intentional to put him on the line. I still recall when Shaq lost his temper and went after Brad Miller. Perhaps Cousins can take a page from Shaq's book and learn to use the many uncalled fouls as motivation to let his game speak for him. (And no, I'm not comparing Cousins to Shaq. I'm just comparing the situations and possible lesson Cousins could learn...)

Why are 80%+ of the posts defending Cousins? He has 0 control of his emotions, and I seriously think he might be bipolar. The reason why he gets dogged by officials is because he never learns from his mistakes. Our owners, GM, coaching staff and We the Fans need to stop babying him. It's time to grow up and become the face of the franchise and embrace being a leader, rather than do something stupid and immature every single week

Your talking about a 22 year old person from a small town in Alabama. Very easy for you to say, and expect. How about you take on that role. You think its that easy to be the face of the franchise? To be the leader of the team? Do you think he was just born with those attributes? Or do you think he should have them just because your a fan, and you expect them. When he played at Kentucky, every team tried to get into his head and get him to do something stupid. They knew he had a short fuse, so they tried to light it. I saw the same thing at summer league when I was sitting behind the Pistons bench two years ago. I heard instuctions being given to try and provoke Cousins. Thats what he's up against.

Now you can sit in the confort of your home, and pontificate in a saintly manner about how he should handle it, but I doubt you, in the same situation would do much better than him. I know I wouldn't. Now does he have a chip on his shoulder? Yes, he does. He's naturally defensive and guarded, and he doesn't trust many people. Why? Because every time he trusts someone, they backstab him. Or at least thats his perception. He's a human being with feelings, and he has the same emotions we do. Except he's pretrayed on ESPN and the national media on a nightly basis. Try that one for size. It amazes me that people expect 19 and 20 year old people to perform better than they could in the exact situation, just because they happen to be talented with a ball in their hands.

Cousins has problems! Its going to take time for him to grow into his life, and become responsible. His chances of doing that increase if he has the right support. I have no problem with being critical of him when he does something thats obviously out of the box wrong. But if were going to nit pic every little thing he does, and second guess his intentions, we'll bury him in deeds of perception, with little attention to the truth.

Yeah I think it is relatively easy to act like a professional in your 3rd year of work at your job. I don't doubt that he has a big heart, because you see flashes of him being a great teammate and encouraging the rest of the team. There's just way too much of the other side as well, and I haven't seen any progression from 19 to 22. Thats my opinion

Some people continue to act as though this was a major turning point in the game that is the talk of SportsCenter, etc. IT'S NOT. The only allegation of intent came from OJ Mayo, who went on Twitter and cried like a little baby, which is rich in and of itself.

If it was a called foul or if Mayo had even shown some reaction to the battering at the time it occurred, I'm sure most of us would be looking at the "incident" more seriously. As it is, however, Mayo's little girl whining doesn't convince me that it has any merit whatsoever.

Amir Johnson gets suspended one game for throwing his mouthguard at a referre and attempting to wrestle the ball away from him, DeMarcus Cousins gets two games for yelling at a commentator, does that sound fair? I think not.

I just don't get the mentality around here. That was a cheap shot. Yet more excuses for a very talented kid who clearly has a lot of growing up to do. And before anyone comes in and excuses me of not understanding the plight of a young professional athlete let me just say this. This is a practical concern not a moral one. This **** is going to interfere with his success and the success of this franchise if he doesn't learn to control himself. What kind of person he truly is I don't pretend to know and truth is neither do any of you. Just because you like the way he plays basketball doesn't privy you to any insights about his character.

Disagree. I do see progression. Clearly. And I'm no super fan of Cousins. And this Mayo event is a rather questionable one to take Cousins to task on. Let's move on.

Basketball is a contact sport, but not a collision sport like football and hockey. There a few unwritten but hard rules about not throwing elbows to the head, submarining a player in the air, or shots to the groin. Grabbing arms and jerseys is legal if the ref doesn't call it. Cousins is a psycho in some ways and other teams are smart enough to take advantage of it. The Kings were losing by 27 when the altercation happened. Some people cannot stand losing and they do not act in rational ways when subjected to it.

People can make it into a big deal all they want, but this type of stuff happens all the time in games.

I think Mayo's anger really started when he tried to hold Cousins' arm (which was already a foul on OJ) and Big Cuz just yanked it off and held it like you would do to a kid until the shot was up and then gave him a parting gift with the smack. The smack was more of a punishment for trying to pull those sneaky holds that refs often miss.

If Mayo is going to call out Cuz, he needs to own up to his own sneaky holding foul was what instigated it. If the league looks at the entire play, I don't see how you can fine Cousins.

Kobe has punched Iggy in the balls before and he didn't get suspended or anything. Iggy didn't even hold him or anything.

Demarcus has addressed the issue on twitter.

Of course the media was going to hype that situation they need what ever " negative story " they can get on me ,but no it wasn't intentional

“I heard,” Cousins said. “This coming from a guy that doesn’t have a great image himself. So what does his really mean? I’m fine with it.”
On Carlisle

”We made a run (in the third quarter),” Cousins said. “I started clapping and the man said “eff off. I said eff you and was it. And I still got scrutinized like I did something wrong
