Fans staying away from pre-season games

At mondays game vs. the Blazers, not many fans showed up. I'm no expert but my guess was only 5,000-6,000 in attendance at most. Take a look at the arena mid-way thru first quarter from location of my nostalgic old season seat during the 90's:

Confession! When I was a season ticket holder, I never once went to a pre-season game. So I wouldn't read too much into the current attendance.

That's not bad compared to some other teams games I've seen this preseason. I don't know why it is but I've never seen preseason so overlooked by both the fans and the NBA itself. Quite a few teams not televising their games either.

Normally I go to a preseason game or two but I've been working like 50-60 hour weeks for months. I'm typically still at work when they start! Do have tickets for opening night and the Nov 7th game though!

It's very simple. Right now fans hate the owners and are not necessarily excited about the team. BUT If the team wins games the fans will come, end of story. That is the piece that the Maloofs got wrong. They bought a middling team ON THE RISE, and thought that hype sold tickets. The fans stayed for a while even as the team went inot decline and they assume hype will bring them back. They seem to forget that they had to spend money in order to turn the corner from young talented team to contenders and that THAT was what more than doubled the value of the team for them.

If you think this is because the Maloofs, it's not. Some fans just don't care to spend money on preseason games. Look at a Heat preseason game, their seats are empty too.

Yah I don't either... But this year while we still have two season tickets mine went to my little brother.

I'm in the photo, too. Just to the left of the backboard.

Since the beginning I've seen at least one preseason. The small crowd is the natural result of the past year's debacle. If you like NBA basketball buy some tickets and go out to Arco or whatever it's called

Correction- I'm not in picture, I'm at the opposite end but there.

If you look at the attendance of other games that were also on the nights of Kings pre-season games, the Sac numbers were very comparable, and in many cases higher....

Just so different now than the old days. This year for first time since we left Sac in 1998 I'll actually catch 2 preseason games, #2 in Sac and #7 down here in San Diego so as to see new talent in preseason environment and if any of the invited "bigs" can contribute.

For me, it's the maloofs. I won't spend another dime on a maloof product. The best I'll do is read about it
and I've been a Kings fan since the beginning.
