Lowry talk heating up .. Kings in the mix (ESPN)

Well that just about rounds it out -- I think now various reporters have announced that we love and don't love every single player in the draft, and will, and will not, take every single offer made thus far. :p
Well, they would all look pretty dumb if at least one of them wasn't right!:p

All except Davis. Ok, here's my list in order of preference:

1. Draft MKG, call it a night.
2. If MKG's gone, work out a trade that gets us a pick no lower than #14.
3. If we can't get fair value in scenario 2, draft Drummond. If we actually liked him, keep him, if not use him as trade bait. Houston wants Dwight, and Orlando wants Drummond? Well guess what Houston we have Drummond, whatcha gonna give us for him? (it's similar to scenario 2, but you're basically telling Houston that you weren't bluffing about going to draft Drummond)
4. Pick Barnes
5. Pick TRob
6. (worst case scenario) pick Lillard and be forced to trade one of IT/Lillard/Tyreke/Thornton, probably at low value.

That would be my plan also.

I must say though, if Petrie doesn't kill me by not drafting MKG, MKG will with his constant fidgeting and repetitive, unclear responses during media interviews. He has to get better at that.

I suppose it's possible we're 'smoke screening' with our lack of love for MKG. Why else would we take the 'wait and see' approach? He's the only guy that we'd be waiting on. Robinson isn't dropping. It will be between Barnes or MKG.. With Barnes beIng the most likely scenario.. It just makes sense that MKG would be the guy.

So why the smokescreen? Well, Cleveland and Charlotte are talking trade. We could be giving teams looking into trading up to #2 or #4 a false look at how we are thinking.. Meaning those teams could look into moving up to #6, where the price would be lower and MKG could fall to that spot.

But seriously, who the hell knows ?

He's had a speech impediment all of his life and it's been noted how shy he gets during interviews. It's remarkable really that he's been able to do as well as he has under the circumstances

seriously give the guy a break he's had a really bad speech impediment as have several players and they get over it with age. his teammates have the utmost respect for him, who cares that he isn't great at speaking with the media

couldn't agree more, I actually think mkg has more potential and his game translates to the NBA better. it has to be a smokescreen or they know mkg won't be there
Yeah, pretty sure they already have an idea of who's going where, Petrie probably has been on the phone with GM cohorts above and below the Kings in the draft. BUT...that's barring any trades, of course. IF we keep the pick, I see us picking Lillard, more than likely...unless Portland gives us some $$$/pick to let him slide to #6. But I don't THINK we're keeping that pick...I think we probably end up trading with Houston for 2 of their lower picks and getting Henson and Harkless or something like that, along with Lowry.

Yet sources say that the Kings, in that scenario, would be walking away from "a lot," suggesting that the Rockets have offered even more than the widely reported package of versatile but disgruntled guard Kyle Lowry and multiple picks later in Thursday's first round. Houston currently holds the Nos. 12, 16 and 18 picks.
Now we are really heating up. Am I going crazy, or is Goeff Petrie actually working Morey right now? Lowry and multiple picks? And possibly more? yes please.

We won't know until we see what happens. I'm fine with taking Robinson at 5 if he's there, although I'd prefer MKG. If it's none of those two, I'd be ok with trading back. Still depends on what we get back, though...

He's going all in. It likely won't work, but the Rockets aren't going anywhere with the way they are. If they were to keep their picks or trade up, they're in a good position to start the rebuild even without getting Howard. In fact, they're probably better off just keeping the picks or trading up and keeping them. They need to get out of the cycle they're in of just missing the POs, because it's easy to get stuck there.

Chad Ford Continues to Talk Up the Lowry + Picks Deal

If this is for real, then why don't the Bobs do it? Why don't they do it yesterday? They desperately want a lot of picks instead of just one. Plus, they get an impact veteran guard. It's a no-brainer for the Bobs. Their whole team could be revamped. And from Houston's perspective, why deal with #5 when you can deal with #2? Then you take no risk whatsoever that Drummond will be taken in the 2-4 slots. This deal makes no sense.

I hope "a lot" doesn't mean Lowry and a bunch of scrubs and mid 1st picks. I really, really like Lowry but I honestly think there are guys available at the #5 who will be better than him in the long run. Just don't ask me who those guys are.

You know, if the Kings walked away from tonights draft with Lowry, Henson and Harkless, I'd consider that an incredibly successful night. I'm a big MKG fan but to get a starting PG who is a great defender, a PF who can block shots, be a weakside defender and rebounder while hitting the open 15 footer and a starting SF who is defensive minded and has a lot of upside is a substantial haul.

And it would strengthen the bench as well. Having Thompson (assuming he's back) as the 3rd big and Thomas as the change of pace PG is a nice luxury as is having a scorer of Thornton's caliber as a sixth man. Best of all, Lowry would be locked in for two years and the rookies for four so the Maloof's inability to spend couldn't even inhibit things.

If the offer is Lowry + 2 first round picks for #5 + Hayes, I'd do it. We can grab a SF and a big with the 2 picks, and I'd be a very happy fan.

BTW, anyone knows if there's any hope they put Parson in the offer, with Lowry and a pick? I guess not, too much for a #5...

Sure, but of course that's part of trading a pick for a vet. You eliminate the risk of coming up empty in return for a surefire step forward. And we desperately need a step forward.
