Lowry talk heating up .. Kings in the mix (ESPN)

So Rockets just trade Chase Budinger and rights to Lior Eliyahu to Minny for pick 18.

They now have picks 14, 16 and 18. There is definitely something cooking in Houston. No way they keep all 3 picks.
And over the last 2 days I have been thinking that 18 is the right spot for Harkless whom we just worked out. But just can't find a way that the Wolves could flip it to us. Now here comes Houston. This draft is starting to become a poker game.

Harkless' stock seems to be rising a lot lately so there is a fair chance he is gone by 18!

I love how Houston always gets involved into trades for star players. They are very proactive and make good trades and signings without sacrificing cap flexibility!

It really depends on what you're looking for from your SF. If you're looking for a star player, then you're correct in that there most likely won't be a star SF left at 14.
However, this is a deep draft for SFs and one of Jeffrey Taylor, Moe Harkness, T.Ross, & Quincy Miller will be availabe at 14.
Now I saw a lot of Taylor, Ross, & Miller last year and not much of Harkness since I only saw St John's play a few times.

I can say with as much certainty as you can in these things that Taylor would be a phenominal pick-up for the Kings and would fit in very well and would be able to solidify the SF spot. The other 3 players I have more questions about, but Taylor should be there at 14, and I would expect to take him to solidify the SF position. And if he isn't there, well it appears the Kings are high on Harkness, so he'd be a great concellation prize.
If Taylor is, as you say, a phenomenal pick-up, then it sounds like he is in fact a "star" in the making. Or, if you want a non-star player at the 3, we've got plenty on the roster now. Take your pick. I'm a little confused by the quality of 3 you want on this team. I know what I want - a star. If we have too many stars it will be tough, but I'll just have to deal with it.:) In the meantime, we have too few.

I keep hearing that Taylor is good and he'll be there at 14. The more I hear he'll be there at 14, the more I don't believe it. If people on this board believe he's good don't you think GMs know he's good? And if they believe he'll be there at 14 then other GMs are figuring that, and guess what, one is going to nab him higher than 14.

If you want to apply logic, then start considering Tor, as well as Hou's objectives. Hou wants the #5 and the #8 to flip to Orl, right? From rumors, Tor really wants Lowry, but nothing has been mentioned about them wanting another player Hou currently has. There's also been rumors we want Lowry, or Lillard, which means Petrie would want a starting PG, as there was another rumor stating our FO doesn't think IT is a fulltime starting PG going forward. So whether or not you personally don't think PG is a great need, rumors from our FO suggest otherwise, that is if we're talking about rumors, which we are.

So, we very well might be targeting Lowry, but if Lowry is the only player Tor likes on Hou, and Hou traded Lowry to us for the #5, that would mean it's less likely Hou can get Tor's #8 as they would be shipping the player Tor covets to us.

Don't think I haven't applied logic. It's pretty simple. We both might want Lowry. Hou wants the 5 and 8. If they trade Lowry to us, then how do they get the 8 from Tor?

If we're discussing rumors, then why get all upset about my opinion on rumors, and act like your own opinions are based on fact?
Toronto sweetens the deal; that's how. It's rare that if these rumors do come to fruition that we hear all the details of the trade; just snippets here and there. The Kings may be interested in another player on Houston other than Lowry, for example.

I probably should go back and read the thread but I hope no one suggested a one for one #5 for Daly trade. That makes little sense.
No one did. It would be the #8, #14 (or #16) and Dalembert for Sacto's #5. That's the rumor. Or, I should say, one of two rumors floating around about the Kings #5.

Another twist to this: Draft Express says the offer is now Lowry, #14 & #16 for Tyreke and our #5.

It's up to the Kings. Also separate rumor that Golden State is trying to trade it's #7 to Houston and hopefully Drummond slips to that pick.

Tyreke involved? I say pass. Take your BPA at #5 and walk away now.

Tyreke is untouchable in any move involving the #5 pick. Houston has no veteran assets worth acquiring outside of Dally, who is really just throw in-value at this stage.

Makes sense for who, to where? I didn;t get where that report was headed? Certianly he makes no sesne nextto Cousins. So are we talking about him headed to...where? Toronto?
Reynolds loves Scola. It may not make sense to you, but I bet the Kings have at least put Scola in the discussion.

If Taylor was a freshman I'd be more concerned, but since he's a senior, and theoretically has less up-side, I don't expect him taken in the first 10-12 picks.
I actually expect T.Ross and M.Harkness to be taken before Taylor since they are both freshmen, even though I consider Taylor the best fit for this Kings team. And if Ross and Harkness are both taken prior to Taylor that would make Taylor the 5th SF taken in the draft, which should place him in the 15+ range, considering you've got a lot of good SGs (Waiters/Rivers/Lamb) and bigs (Drummond/Leonard/Henson/Zeller) and PGs (Lilliard/Marshall) and two high upside guys in PJ3 & Quincy Miller.

I don't see him being a star, but I see him being a player who brings exactly what we need to the team.
When the talent/upside is all equal, you start going for fit, and we desperately need a SF who can play great defense and knock down the open shot, and that's exactly what Taylor will be able to do.

No way. Scola is 32 and still has 3 years left on his contract, worth $30 million. He is an horrible fit next to Cousins, and there's no reason to add such a contract for an aging player who doesn't fit our team. Of course, right now I have no confidence in our FO and I'm scared they could do something rally stupid.

Don't mistake activity for effectiveness. Fun for fans to watch I'm sure but they've finished 9th in the west 3 YEARS IN A ROW. Arguably the worst place for a team to stagnate. I'd take our young talented roster 10 times out of 10 over their starless, middling moneyball system.

Shhh... Petrie might want him more now.

Damn it, I would have traded tyreke for buddinger straight up. We fail.
Really? I'd like to know why you would trade a 4th pick, ROY for a 44th pick who was traded for an 18th pick. I know we need a small forward, but I'd certainly want more than this for Reke.

If we wanted Budinger, it seems like we could've offered a player(s) besides Evans. I think Kings fans are greatly under-rating Evans, whose biggest problem, so far, has been the mishandling of him by the team (coaches).

Y u no see sarcasm!? Haha I was joking. I love tyreke. I just wish we had a coaching staff that could actually coach and put him in the right position and situation to find success. He's a unique player.
