Sac Bee ad by Kings Fans

#1
We have billboards. We sold out Feb. 28th. We held a rally at City Hall. Now it's time to place a one page color ad in the Sacramento Bee to show our support, dedication, passion and love for our Sacramento Kings and the Maloofs. If you are interested in helping with our cause to save our Sacramento Kings, please let us know by posting a comment. The total cost is $5,540. The more who support this idea, the less it will cost each person to pitch in. We need to know by Sunday evening if we can pull this off or not. Thank you and Here We Stay!!!

Save your money or make it go to a good cause like the red cross for Japan.

$5,540 for an ad in the Bee? That sounds pretty expensive. I'd like to help, but it would be a drop in the bucket compared to the overall price. How much would a billboard cost in relation to that? $5,540 for an ad which appears once seems like an awful lot of money, especially to the Bee where I only hear about people cancelling their subscriptions.

Just thinking a billboard would be more bang for our buck.

It was originally over $9,000 and I got it down to $5,540.

We can accomplish this if...

56 fans pitch in $100 each = $5,600

112 fans pitch in $50 each = $5,600

202 fans pitch in $27 each = $5,454

and so on and so forth

If you look at this website, it looks like we could get a 30 sheet poster type billboard, for no more than $2000 per month, or an 8 sheet poster billboard, for no more then $750 a month. What do you think? I think something like this would be seen by many more people.

This ^^^

Don't waste your money on trying to get the Madicks to stay here. They are already committed to leaving and nothing any of us does will influence them to stay. Put your efforts to swinging the NBA owner votes, or to helping Sac get a new team when these POS owners leave.

Do you really need to come into every thread where someone has something positive to say, and s*** all over it?

What, for agreeing to save their money for the red cross efforts in Japan rather than trying to keep the idiot owners somewhere they don't want to be? Yes I do, thank you.

Billboard ad costs are set forth below for billboard signage.

• Traditional Billboard (Bulletin): $1,500 - $30,000/billboard/month.

• 30-Sheet Poster: $750 - $2,000/billboard/month.

• 8-Sheet Poster: $300 - $750/billboard/month.

Minimum Purchase:
Minimum of 5 to 20 billboards, depending on the billboard ads medium, timing and market.
The 5 to 20 minimum would probably kill even the most inexpensive option.

If the city council and the city can't do anything because the decision is in the hands of negotiations with Anaheim and the NBA, why spend money here?

#14
I dont mean to be a debbie downer or anything but with all the recent signs that the kings are very close to moving and the unwillingness of the maloofs to negotiate anything at all with the city of sacramento i just dont see the point in giving up my money for something like this.

After rethinking the whole thing, I'd like to try the Bee ad because it has not been done and you can see it better than a billboard because there has to be a good message in it rather than a slogan.

But it looks like too many people are giving up, which is sad.

You've gotta know when to jump ship. The Kings ship is 80% underwater and y'all are trying to save her by tossing buckets of water over the side. It's time to get aboard the life raft and just watch it sink.

There is no life raft. Being able to say see? I quit first! is hardly any sort of life accomplishment.

I haven't given up. I'm just not going to do what you say because I think it is a waste of money. I'd rather buy a fruit basket with a kind note and send it to Cuban than do this. If you want to paint me as giving up, you aren't paying any attention. And as a matter of fact, I asked and asked for feedback and YOU couldn't find the time of day to tell me if my idea stunk, was good, or just foolish. You can't get this mob to spend money to try to sway people who say it is out of their hands. I resent your painting us with a broad brush. There is more than one way of handling this problem.

Do you even know that other people are doing?

I think the people who are jumping ship have the perfect right to jump ship. I just wish they didn't ALSO try to influence other people to quit trying. That's a real anti-Sacramento attitude just to try to get a "see, I told ya so" award. None of these people have said anything new in the last month.

I have voiced my opinions as to what we should do and never said to give up. Take your blinders off.

We could always cut it in half by going with a 1/2 page ad. I was just thinking BIG. The ad idea has not been done and seems more personal than a billboard because with an ad you can take the time to read it and look it over and over again. There's nothing wrong with a billboard but that's just me.

If you want to paint me as giving up, you aren't paying any attention.
I never mentioned anyone by name and that includes you. I said too many people, which can be from here and other sites I post on.

I honestly have not had the time to read through every posted comment on here because I am all over the place. I have my job but I do as much as I can to help save our team by reading and posting on this and other forums. I have already spent over $1,000 of my own money with no donations in trying to film a documentary to educate others on why we need a new arena. I bought a HD camera for over $2,000 to be used as my brother is a radio/TV/film graduate from SF State. My brother and I flew out to LA to film Staples Center and LA Live along with permission from the AEG folks. We were going to go to other locations but plans changed when we found out we're no longer in the 4th inning but rather in the top of the 10th inning, so to speak. I have already spent another $1,000 on airfare and hotel for Philadelphia next week. Originally I was going to film the arena and its downtown and watch the game as a guest of a certain Kings's player's family, but now we're going just to watch the and spend time with that certain family.

I have attended multiple city hall rallies.

I drove my car with my Here We Stay sign from Elk Grove to Linda (near Yuba City and Marysville) and back.

I have written letters to Mayor Kevin Johnson, the city council and Kings officials.

I buy the expensive seats in the lower level and display my sign and even gave away a $250 seat to one of my students to hold up his anti-Mickey Mouse sign.

I have done so much you or most on here will never know. Let's just say I have it in good faith that we still have a shot. It's very slim. But it's better than nothing.

I have not had much sleep in these last few weeks as I am doing all I can.

Until I am told the deal is officially done, I will not quit. I am on a mission. In the military we do not quit and complete our mission unless we're told otherwise.

I have others on here who can vouch for me on what I have done, tried to do and will do. But I'll leave it at that. I'm not here to fight, argue, etc. Just here to inspire others to not give up while there is still some hope left.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have some community service to do.

I know what you have done and it is far more than most if not everybody. I created a special thread with my idea and have mentioned it many times. No one has found the time to read it perhaps because like you, they don't have time to read what other people have to say. Too much to do in life.

Nice shot at the end. You won't get any help from me because I have MY service to do. Sorry to bother you on trying to think of something new. You obviously have your ideas and won't be swayed to another place of attack. Doesn't make me inferior, though. I hope you understand that.

If the Kings leave, we're not getting another NBA team. The only reason the city is seriously considering an arena is because the Maloofs FINALLY decided to look elsewhere. Your girlfriend isn't as hot until you see her being checked out by another dude.

Speaking of sending a kind note... I decided to reach out this week to the one who I know is the closest treasure to the Maloof's heart.... their mom. I sent a card expressing how much many of us truly appreciate all that she and her family have done for the city of Sacramento. I also sent a copy of my song, "Stay" as a gift to her. I don't know if it will work, but at least they will know a little bit more of how many of us feel.....

Good move. What the heck, even if they leave, it was very nice of you. Being nice is no crime. :)

I'll take back my crirticism of Mike's idea. If people are for it, do it. I just thought my fruitbasket idea was better. :) When it comes to money, we just may hit a major road block. Hope the Maloofs have the same problem. I don't mind this city being a second choice, fall back position for them.
