Sac Bee ad by Kings Fans

We have raised enough money to pay for a 1/4 page color ad for Sunday, April 10th.

I will be meeting with Here We Stay during Sunday's Kings game to go over how we will do this as a collaborative effort.

I also want Carmichael Dave involved and his input too.

I will keep you all posted.

I also agree with rainmaker's comments and will run them by everyone.

Thank you everyone for your support!

Wow, did some people not follow through? Thought we had more committed than a 1/4 page ad. Still very positive though, and I'm happy we were able to get that done.

As for the politicians, they're all famous for taking credit for what someone else has done. It was their job to buld positive momentum years ago, and have the fans rally behind them, since they yield most of the power. Instead, we're the ones building momentum, and I DO NOT want politicians rallying behind us and pretending they've actually contributed in some way. As far as I'm concerend, they've already publicly given up, and we're having to work against them.

Amen! Excellent point, Rainmaker.

Originally I was hoping for a full one page color ad but that was going to cost over $9,000 and I talked them down to $5,600 at the most.

Seeing as I was not getting that much of a response, we discussed a 1/4 page color ad instead and that is now a done deal.

Just a footnote here. For my part I don't prefer giving anyone a jab, such as the politicians. I prefer a mainly positive ad. However my note here is purely advisory and I'll go along with whatever you come up with. Thanks, Mike.

I appreciate your feedback. I'll keep you all posted on what we will come up with after Sunday's meeting.

I still think we should somehow include the pic of Anaheim with Kobe and "Anaheim celebrates the Lakers" in the background alongside with a picture of Kings fans yelling or going crazy from the 80's

I agree with those who've said keep it positive. Its about US, the FANS of the team, not anyone or anything else......And maybe a shout out to KF.com won't hurt ;)

Someone would need to send that ad directly to the mayor, or at least point it out

I think 30 copies of the paper should be purchased and the ad sent to the owners of every team. This is one of the last chances. (I think the other is that the Maloofs can't afford to move) In fact, if time is an issue, send the mockup of the ad and follow it up with a copy that's in the paper. The timing is good as it just might be on the owners' minds right before they vote.

What is said may already be known. The most important factor is that evryone knows that the fans are still spending money and effort to keep the Kings.

Heck, let's make it three copies. Send 30 copies to the Mayor so he can take them with him and hand them out. There wouldn't be a dry eye in the room. :)

thanks for the work Mike.

As much as I love to do the finger pointing, I agree with keeping this positive and show how much we care.

We're working on a design and it's due to the Bee by Thursday at 4pm. I am working with the Here We Stay group.

That is correct. It will be published on Sunday, April 10th.

Does anyone get a paper? If there is an electronic mockup of the ad, can I mail it to the NBA owners and Stern? They need to see the energy and who they may be hurting. Real people with real hopes and not abstract figures on a print out of demographics.

I will post a picture of the ad here so no worries.

Yes, you should try it. Much better and easier to use than the internet. In fact we get two, the Bee and the SF Chronicle, great stuff.

I had the Bee for about 30 years and just canceled it. There are enough sources of news.
