I'm sorry but Walton ruins my viewing and listening to the Kings on TV. Both my wife and I are so turned off by his constant yaking and pontificating that we have to turn off sound for the two quarters he is on. Thought we only had to endure him for games in LA? What did we fans do to deserve this, this......

i think he's hilarious

i'd rather listen to him than grant napear
Faint praise if I ever heard it.

To me, having to choose between Napear and Walton is like being asked would you rather jump off the roof of a thirty story building, or be thrown off the roof of a thirty story building?

Napear > Walton. Napear actually talks about the Kings. In fact Napear is actually a pretty good play by play guy. Walton's just a joke. I fundamentally cannot understand why somebody wants a joke yabbering over their basketball game.

????? Walton is great. u can tell he has that zest for life. Yes he is obsessed with the grateful dead if you havent noticed.

id love to see more of him
Let him go live life then. This is a basketball broadcast, and he's a blather mouthed tool.

Maybe the Kings can go sign Carrot Top ot be his replacement.

Walton only works for blowouts when you really need a good Waltonism. But now the games are actually competitive, so he's not needed. We should bring him back on standby when we play SAS.

I love Walton!!!

But only because he's so terrible. It is amusing to me, but I can definately understand the hate.

I'm only down with him getting fired from broadcasting if he's immeadiately rehired as the Kings new bigman coach.

I dont mind Bill Walton for 2 quarters once a month. I can deal with that and respect the fact that he would have been one of the top 10 or so players to EVER play if he wasnt so hurt all the time. He is finally healthy, and I couldnt be more happy for him. He clearly loves basketball ... he clearly loves just about everything... Lifes too short to complain about something like Bill Walton talking for two quarters of basketball.

Listening to Walton drone on and on this year, it's amazing to notice how repetitive his "takes" are.
He's absurdly optimistic - to the point of delusional religiousness.
But it's his incessant hyperbole that is getting like fingernails on a chalkboard - just because HE lives his life day-to-day, with new "Best-Ever's" every week doesn't mean everyone listening should have to endure it.

It's like the Maloofs are paying for his emotional therapy, and we all are forced to be in his support audience.

he's amusing. They pull him before the 4th quarter for a reason. He barely talks about the game. But after hearing Jerry make one more "Beno Draino" comment I don't mind hearing less of Jerry and Grant

I still chuckle about his comment when Rudy F fouled Omri: "Rudy Fernandez with an international human rights violation on Omri Casspi"

If this was a petition, I would sign. My entire family groans in horror when he pops on. Who knew my mother cussed so much. Bill somehow brings it out of her.

He doesn't have to go. I actually like when Bill Walton commentates, it's random and unique pretty often yes, but I like how he tells it like it is for the most part.

Mabye better question to ask is why did Maloofs hire Walton in the first place? The official story is after they hired Jim Gray for PT duty he told Joe and Gavin about Walton's recent difficulties - back surgery and downslide of late in his B-Ball announcing career. The Kings owners called Bill up and immediately offered him a PT job on Kings TV and radio. The unofficial story is that MSE is looking to eventually replace some or all of Kings announcers as Jerry Reynolds and Gary Gerrold near retirement and Grant Napear continues to be at best a controversial figure in Sac sports broadcasting circles.

I recall vividly when Bill Walton was teamed often with Steve "Snapper" Jones on NBA broadcasts 10-15 years ago. Jones was a perfect foil and not intimitated one bit by Walton's comical but also egotistical personality. He would let him go on and on but when Bill stepped out of line with a huge exaggeration or something completely off the wall, Snapper would snap back and put the Big Redhead in his place with some caustic humor. No one on Kings broadcasts comes close to handling Walton the way Snapper did. Least of all humorless sour puss Napear, althought Reynolds likes to clown back and forth if given the opening. Bottom line for me is, hiring of Walton was much more about the latest gimmic by Maloofs to try and look for something, anything to get some excitement going with Kings fans who - let's face it - are in an ongoing rather depressed or at least disinterested mood.

And my wife and I love him. Looks like we cancel eachother out.

He makes games more interesting. In the same way I can tell my wife that Tyreke is going to pound the ball, then launch an ill-advised shot in the clutch without passing once before it happens; I can also predict that Walton will make some crazy pizza statement when one of the other broadcasters mentions pizza.

He's horrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrible. FIRE HIM. I almost threw something at the TV tonight as he went on and on and on about the "Dead". WHO CARES?!?
Honestly, if you get that upset over a color commentator for your favorite sports team, you may need some counseling as there may be some latent anger issues ;)

Walton on air is all about Walton. Ever notice how he almost always relates a subject to something he did or said on the air previously? We're watching a Kings basketball game not a deadhead fan club or a Walton fan club of one. At least Grant and Jerry stick with the game and enjoy each other and have some chemistry. With Walton none of that applies and grates on many of us.

I love Walton! He's actually made some pretty unbearable games somewhat watchable and entertaining. If you actually listen to the content of what he's saying, he's pretty much the only one repeating a lot of what most fans complain about.

And the funny thing is the it's all part of his gimmick. Clearly flies right over the heads of those complaining.
