[Game] Kings Vs Blazers, 1/19/11

Not a fan of Westphal's rotations, but Cousins earned his spot on the bench. Sammy was clearly more productive out there.
i have no problems with dalembert at C. he was playing well and kept us in there defensively. but i we needed someone to post up down low. im tired of seeing the high post cuz it just wasnt working. they know dalembert wasnt gonna shoot from out there and JT just looked out of place. it doesnt help that tyreke would just dribble and take a jumper or drive and jump to pass.

My summary of the game:

* Bill Walton is horrible to listen to. Please make it stop.
* Tyreke needs to quit driving against entire teams trying to "be the hero". Pass the ball, you ****tard.
* Cousins needs to get this turnover thing under control. Quit dribbling so much, you oaf.
* Dalembert played great D.

Its possible Westphal simply didnt have a play that could score against the incredible Blazers 2-3 zone, and figured we have a better chance trying to catch them off guard.
End of regulation he was calling for a timeout on the rebound. He argued with the officials the whole break for OT. I think Omri got the rebound and should have called the time out instantly instead of dribbling and throwing up a 3/4 court shot.

Just got back from the game. I don't know....the Kings are the only team who cannot get into the offensive quickly. They are way, way, toooooooooo slow.

Tyreke really needs to stop being the hero every night. And I don't like it when he walks the ball up the court. Let's run the halfcourt and get into the offensive quicker please.

I almost feel asleep because there was NO ball movement in the 3rd quarter. The Kings only had 1 assists and there was 15 seconds left before the end of the quarter. More ball movement is needed...and I do mean MORE. Everyone in my section was yelling "Move the ball quicker", "Pass the ball" "Don't just stand there". It was bad.

Although it was only a 4 point lost, the same mistakes are happening over and over and over again.

Tyreke Evans is terrible.

15 seconds on the clock and that's the best shot he can get? Pathetic.

Lets build around Cousins. Evans is not nearly the player we hoped he would be.

Why does it always have to be about Evans with you? He's making horrible mistakes, yeah, but him and cousins are the only legitimate star potential players we have.

I agree with all of that. Especially with getting Cousins down in the low post more often. He is a alright face up player without a lot of potential in that facet of his game. In the low post on the other hand his foot work and strength come into play. For those reasons I'm pretty sure that's where most of his production is going to come from through out his career.

On a entirely different subject. Is anyone else concerned that Evans cannot put together a complete game this season? He has great quarters and halves fairly consistently, but he always seems to stinks it up for a stretch most nights. At first I thought it was conditioning or the foot, but at this point I'm just not sure what the hell it is. If someone has some insight id love to hear it.

I think Evans tries to do too much later in games. He's been starting games off pretty well, looking for guys. Then comes halftime and it's like you turn off the "pass" switch in his brain and all of a sudden he doesn't play team ball anymore

he's getting his share of steals though... does this mean his D improved? or is it because he is long?

Tyreke for this year has been dishing out some good numbers on the assist column on occassion, though his scoring has dipped.. post allstar break he's going to get it together.. soon

PLEASE Maloofs! You are REALLY pissing off Kings fans with Grey and Walton! You couldnt choose 2 more poisonous people who hate the Kings. Walton has trashed the Kings for years and years, While Grey is just an azzhat who has very poor judgement. Tyreke is no super hero. He needs to pass the friggin ball! WTF happened to Cousins? Did he whip it out and pee on the coach at halftime? No SIGN of him in the second half of a game that went to overtime? When we needed help against their big Aldridge? This was a failure of coaching and players. How much longer can the fans stand the poor play by this team? All effort but no progress? I am VERY dissapointed with the effort of this team to go against a team that basically has no star and everyone is hurt on their team. Kings have everyone healthy and cant win the game to save their lives. Maybe a few misses from Garcia would have helped the Kings? I seriously just dont know what the problem of this team is. AND neither does PW for that matter. I don't think he has a CLUE what is going on here. He was so out coached last night that it was sickeningly obvious. We have a terrible coach to go along with a terrible team! I guess the Maloofs figure we wont know the difference because the team will lose anyway with this group. But fans can tell that our only problem isn't immature kids. They are pushing a lot of the blame on them when the coaching has been non-existant. When does PW get his share of blame? I am starting to think more and more that the Maloofs are going to go in a different direction next year. Fire the Coach and start over with different players next year. An overhaul of the entire team! They have been needing an overhaul for a long time now. P.s., anyone know how good Hawes is doing? (4 pts, - 7 RB - 15:00 min). Great draft pick that Hawes!

I can't speak for what Walton has said over the years about the Kings, but since he has joined the broadcast team he has positive, optimistic, and realistic. He points out the good, he talks about the future, and recognizes what is being done poorly. He hasn't evidenced any "poison" or hatred for the Kings.

Some people have a dislike of Walton's commentary, which I don't really understand as I find him quite good. But if you're "pissed off" about Walton it's because you choose to be pissed off, not because he's sitting at the broadcast table and trashing the organization night in and night out. Try simply to give Walton a chance instead of flipping on your PO switch as soon as you hear him and maybe you'll find he's a reasonable commentator.

This. This is why I am hesitant to have an optimistic stance on this team reaching its potential.

I am still banking on it being youth. Or at least I hope it's youth, because you can't teach intelligence.

Steals don't necessarily equate to good defense. Kevin Martin led us in steals for a few seasons, but was a defensive abomination.

Sorry, but I can't stand him either. It's like nails on a chalkboard. Describing the most miniscule little thing with 10 adjectives everytime. Super, super annoying. I respect and agree with some of his opinions, however, it's his delivery I cannot stand.

oh, and that's not even touching on the fact that he insinuated that DeMarcus should actually get in a fight with Pryzbilla last night like it was a good idea. Are @#!#ing kidding me?!

You don't have to love Walton. Some do, some don't. I like him.

But there's a difference between not liking Walton, and being "pissed off" because he is "poisonous" and "trashes the Kings". I just think we can do with a little more "I don't like Walton" and a little less venom and hyperbole. Saying that he's annoying and giving examples of what annoy you (as you did) certainly fall within the realm of reasonable criticism.

I'm with TTown Kings on this one.

I don't dislike Walton because he "hates the Kings" - he doesn't.

I dislike him because
* Everything he says has to do with himself
* If you've heard one broadcast with him on it, you've heard them all
* He won't shut up and let anyone else speak - on radio OR television.
* His delivery is grating

Good enough?

DMC looked gassed on that play - he's huffing and puffing while standing still.
My guess would be, he heard the playcall and figured it was (stupidly) time to get some rest on the play.

About the game -
I caught the 4th qtr & OT first, then went back and watched the rest of the game, and I swear there were 2 different guys with the #13 jersey on.

During the 4th and OT, Tyreke was ineffective and impotent on the court - especially once the Blazers went in the zone.
And that last shot? COME ON. You HAVE to at least hit the rim on a drive and layup - he has missed the rim a shocking # of times this year - it's like his fingers/wrist was broken and never healed properly and he can't flip the ball correctly at the end.

But during the 1st half, and much of the 3rd qtr, he was beasting a good % of the time.

What the hell is wrong with Tyreke?

About Bill Walton - I cannot stand him, and fast-forward him when I can, and would rather skip entire sections of the game than listen to him prattle on and on and on and on saying meaningless, generality-filled archaic philosophical bull****.

About the last bumble play in OT -
that was on Donte, entirely.
Omri was NOT open driving to the basket - he'd beat his man and Donte's defender completely left him and went to block the drive, leaving Donte with a completely open lane to the basket.
Except - Donte flashed towards the basket as fast as he could. He didn't need to do that.
He needed to watch the way the play unfolded, and either wait for the pass then flush it down, or else have gone back to the 3 pt line when his man left him.

Omri was in traffic, with 2 guys moving towards him - it was Donte's mistake in flying to the basket inappropriately - not Omri's.

I think Tyreke should go look at the tape of our recent game against the Hawks and watch Joe Johnson's floater. Putting the ball up early and high to avoid the shot blocker is easier than going all the way and then having to scoop it up from your hip level, away from your body, which is what Tyreke often does. For the near future it's either he learns to do that or he gets a good mid-range pullup jumper. If Tony Parker had Tyreke's size he'd be a monster (with his skill) ... though I suppose you could say that about a lot of good guards in the league

My wife thinks games are about twice as interesting when Walton's commenting. Face it folks. The Kings are a bit of a nightmare to watch sometimes. People like Walton aren't there for those who know the difference between a screen and roll and a pick and pop.

I prefer the Walton games. I think he's ridiculous. He also has a kindness to him that's endearing.
