J.R. Smith? Worth the headache/Cash?

So J.R. Smith is on Denver's chopping block... I wonder what it would take for the Kings to pick him up; I do not know much about him other than the 3-point shootnig clinic he held that one game...

Also, the Kings have enough cap room to trade for him and not trade salary back to denver... So any one for one trade will work, except a Dalembert for JR, so, from a future 2nd-rounder for JR to Beno for JR...

Thoughts? I would consider it for a 2nd rounder... but the Kings would be forced to spend the $$ and he is likely a one-and-done guy...

2 words: F- No. We don't need JR Thug. Black hole, nothing to offer except 3pt shooting, streakiest player in the league, locker room cancer. No thanks. If we were gonna go that route, I'd rather have Redick (which I don't) because at least he is a character guy. JR Smith is murder waiting to happen.

I would put JR Smith in a group with Sasha Vujacic, Jared Jeffries, and Deshawn Stevenson. They are all duds on tax paying teams. At the trade deadline, I'd take any of these guys along with 3M cash to pay the rest of their salary in addition to a late 1st round pick. We immediately cut the player and essentially get a free late first. Denver, Portland, Houston, or LA do it to reduce their tax bill by millions.

No way I trade for Smith to actually play on the team. Only as a strategic piece to get another asset.

I'd consider it if the price didn't extend beyond Darnell Jackson + 2nd rounder for JR and 3 million cash. Anything more than that and I'd pass.

Short answer = no. to the best of my knowledge Smith is actually the only player currently in the NBA who has actually killed someone. And hey, if it was intentional and with his bare hands at least you could say he was badass, but instead it was vehicular manslaughter after he ran a stop sign driving with his FIVE TIME suspended driving license. You throw in selfish, stupid, defenseless chucker and you have a real prince. If we want one of these turds go sign Delonte West -- he's free and actually plays both sides of the ball.

If we are going to get JR then might as well get jason williams too. JR smith is a typical guy who only cares about his shots, points and minutes. He is someone that will ruin the mentality of these already young players. All he does is take horrible shots. Sure he makes them on occasion, but when he doesn't u can just c the team grumbling. I just don't think he meshes with the type of players and system we got going with coach whestphal.

I almost started this thread a couple of days ago when I first heard of the rumor. But after throwing up in my mouth while sitting at the keyboard, I decided it was a bad idea. Even if it would be filler for the TDOS....

My issue isnt with Smith being a "headcase". I use quotations because of how freely people throw that term around on this site. The guy has made mistakes in his life, but I wouldnt call him unstable. The issue I have with Smith is that he still seems to take alot of bad shots and has a poor ratio of making good decisions with the ball as opposed to bad decisions with the ball. He could use a little more bball IQ.

He could use a lot more "life" IQ, too. Its his decision-making off the court that's really questionable. Some people call that a headcase. I just call it stupidity or gross immaturity.
