Good interviews by both guys. I thought the press did a good job of getting Cousins to relax and open up a little bit. Good question to Cousins when asked how much he liked playing basketball. He sounded sincere when he said he loved to play the game. He's a very guarded young man.

I like the Favors interview as well. Very well spoken, and much more open than Cousins. Quite a contrast when watched back to back. Favors more of an adult, and Cousins more like a child waiting to be slapped for saying the wrong thing. Both talented guys, and I'll take either one. God willing..

yeah the instructions are for "HOW TO EMBED A YOUTUBE VIDEO"

let me see if the interviews are up on youtube yet
Sorry - I missed the fact that they were not youtube videos in the first post. Making assumptions and not looking closely.

They should've antagonized Cousins, so he'll fall to the Kings.

Despite how much crap people talk about Minnesota, they have a lot of talent and a lot of pieces to work with. It's not a bad situation to end up there. Perhaps he's afraid that they won't trade Jefferson if they take him, but I think they definitely will. Sounds good for us though if it deters Minny, and it says that he probably wants to be a King, but I can't a imagine a big man in this draft that wouldn't want to be.

You misunderstood. It wasn't Cousins decision to not work out for Minny. It was a Timberwolves decision to not bring him in for a workout. Which means they've either settled on Johnson, or they have a trade in the works. But it could be good news for us. Hopefully..

Minni hasn't been quiet about their desire to trade the pick have they? There's no way they don't already have something worked out that will jump off on draft day. Sure it'd be great if it were us but I think we have as much chance of that as we did landing the #1 pick.

I imagine the only reason why Draft Express has Cousins going 6 now and Monroe 5 is because they feel Monroe is the Petrie pick. If that happens...worse draft ever!

Oh. Well, that's not good news IMO. That sounds more like a trade, because it would be odd to be settled on a player this early. They would at least give Cousins a look.

I think it's stupid to feel so confident about who Petrie likes this early. I'd assume he takes the obvious bpa until I hear that they're in love with Monroe or something. Petrie passing on Cousins for anyone not named Wesley Johnson would be completely moronic.

I agree, that's not good news, that's BAD news. That means somebody (likely in the 6-10 range) is trying to trade up to nab a player they know will be there at 4 and won't be there when they pick. And only 2 likely players fit that bill: Cousins and Johnson. And Minny could use Johnson so why do that if it's him the other team is after?

Well I'd love to be behind the scenes right now. I know that Minny really wanted Evan Turner. I don't see the 76er's trading that pick to move down to 4 and maybe picking up another first round pick, unless they've decided they like Cousins. Collins has already talked about moving Iguodala to SF. That sounds like they plan on drafting Turner to me. But it could all be a smoke screen. Who knows?

Well when I think about it we should have one of the best offers for Minni if they are indeed interested in Johnson. They'd probably want future draft picks from us though.

That's true but Petrie has never shown much aggression about moving up in the draft. I know he hasn't had many picks this high before either, I just wouldn't hold my breath over it

Well if Minn loves Johnson and is trying to trade #4 pick to another team that will pick Cousins, then what makes them think the Kings will not take Johnson themselves if Cousins is gone?

This is not a very deep draft outside of the top 5. So if Minn moves out of the top 5, then they can forget about getting a star prospect. unless they trade their #4 for an established player...

I'm not sure, but maybe the same reason they'd pass on Cousins: Because we're already set at the (primary) position that Johnson plays. With that said I still hope we take him since he'd be the BPA if Cousins is gone at 4.

If Minny trades the pick then I'm guessing they're looking at possibly taking Johnson further down, or if he's gone, Xavier Henry

Minni would have to trade after drafting to be certain.

I think the quality in this draft drops off after number 4, but there is still good potential afterward, it's just much harder to be sure of. Look how much talk there has been about our 5th pick- there is no consensus. Every year there are unexpected successes in drafts and this one should be no different. Actually I expect the opposite since those great wing players will be going mid first round and after.

Petrie is known for picking BPA, so if Cousins is gone, then I think there is a strong chance he picks Johnson. But Kahn is very unpredictable so anything can happen. I certainly never expected him to keep BOTH Flynn and Rubio last year.
And he's shown that he's willing to gamble with draft picks (ie trading with Wash for the #5 pick)

I hope we workout Johnson as well. That way Minn won't think that we will automatically pass on him if he is available.
So true, we need to work him out and talk about how great he will be or something. Lets not let them think they can trade down and still get him.

This is just my opinion, but I don't think the Timberwolves have any interest in moving down. They already have two more first round picks. So why move down? If Minny moves, it will be up to try and get Turner. Thats the guy they wanted from the get go. The 76ers need a lot of help, so I could see them being interested in aquiring another first round pick.

From reading all the Philly papers, they seem content to take Turner. Collins is already talking about how he plans to use him. I know were all looking for any possiblilty that could happen. But its possible that nothing happens. One thing is clear. If the T Wolves don't work out Cousins, its doubtful that they draft him. OK, I know that with Kahn you never know anything for sure. But just using logic, they don't draft Cousins. And if they don't make a trade, then Cousins falls to us..

If there is a trade, it could be with us. If they've settled on Johnson, but know were seriously looking at Cousins, they could possibly try and hold us up for some kind of compensation. Naturally I hope I'm right about this. I think Johnson is a very good player. But I think Cousins is a difference maker. With Johnson we'll improve. With Cousins, we'll take a giant step toward credibility.
