Adrian Dantley was traded away the very summer after winning ROY - I'm sure that's what the writer meant.
So one would hope, although he didn't say that, and I noticed that the Wikipedia article on Dantley said the same thing (in the same vague and incomplete way) until I edited it. It probably originated in an article on basketball-reference.com which also didn't specify.

Webber is the most obvious example of someone else being traded (via sign-and-trade) immediately after winning ROTY, although Elton Brand was traded after his 2nd year, and there may have been others, I didn't dig that deeply.

The thing is that the Knicks, Nets, and Heat all have around the room to pay for two max guys.

Now only LBJ and Wade would I pay the max with-out hesitation. Bosh I'd pay depending on the team, and there isn't anyone else that I think can credibily get that sort of deal and it not be thought to over-paying.

But that means that most likely, a number of teams are going to be left in a position where they have money to sign two max guys, but there are no max guys left available on the NBA landscape.
So it's possible that a team like the Knicks could end up offering a 5-year 80 million deal to someone around Parker's level. And I do think that Parker would be a good fit for D'Antoni's fast style of play.

What I don't understand is where the Spurs are coming from. Manu is always banged up and is 33 years old and they just extended his contract for 3 more years at around 40 million dollars.
So I have no idea why they'd offer 13 million a year to Manu and then look to ditch their 27 year-old point guard.

Maybe Parker sees the writing on the wall with the decline of Duncan and Ginobili's age, and thinks he has a better shot winning a championship somewhere else and is looking to make a change happen.
But from the Spur's FO perspective, I can't see how trading Parker would be in their best interest unless they got something very valuable in return.

Overpaying always happens... although I'm not quite sure how you would sell parker at 13 million a year. He has a championship pedigree that he was pretty instrumental at, but was only a third of the group.

I wasn't sure why they gave Manu that money either... desperation? This is the same team that could not find minutes for Mason Jr even though he was tearing it up (relatively speaking) last year. They also benched Parker in favor of Hill and refused to play him from the start even though Hill was obviously ineffective. Some weird decisions made there. Not sure...

Pop has a man crush on George Hill.

Honestly though, I think the Spurs need to start rebuilding. Their championship runs with this team of players are over. Duncan can no longer carry them in the playoffs and RJ did not provide the extra spark they needed to put them with the rest of the elite teams. They should get young, promising players while the willy vets are still around to teach them. I'd reckon having Tim Duncan as a mentor would be a tremendous help to any young big

If they manage to get Tiago Splitter to join them next year, I wouldn't worry too much about their future. If not, they're in a bit of trouble. However, I don't think the real trouble will start too soon. All things being equal, I expect them to make the playoffs at least the next two years.

NY Times.com: Underachieving Knicks scrub Eddy Curry is cooked over $570,000 personal loan from Allstar Capital

Are you ****ting me, man?

My favorite part is the three hundred grand he owes to Juwan Howard...
Holy crap!

Curry went to Allstar in 2008 and took out the five-month personal loan at an 85% interest rate - legal only in Las Vegas
Another reason to keep the NBA out of Las Vegas, I guess.

And he's suing his his agent for mishandling his money? And the Knicks would only front him $2 million on his salary?

Why some people here would want this guy on our team, I just don't understand. Its not like he's making up for this crap with stellar on the court performance.

Hedo Turkoglu: ‘I Do Not Want to go Back to Toronto’

Hedo: Our Italian physiologists said, “You are not starting today. After training on Sunday you’ll give it a go against Miami and Charlotte.” I nodded and did some weight work on game day.

Although they allowed me to go home, I wanted to watch the game with my teammates. After the game, I went back home. Some European teammates called me and said, “Hedo, are you sleeping?” Then they told me where they were hanging out, which is actually 100 meters away from my home. I said, “OK” and when I arrived, all the guys were here. And if you check the camera records, you will see that I left there in 15-20 minutes with Andrea Bargnani. I guarantee it. And if they prove me wrong, I will give back my contract!

The day after, the whole controversy erupted. They claimed that I intentionally skipped the game. And the worst thing is that the people making the claims were from Raptors’ management and they wanted to suspend me for two games. My attorney settled the dispute and Mr. [Bryan] Colangelo promised me that things would stay between us.

The following day, I was fined and did not play against Miami. After the statements of the front office, everybody in Toronto heard the news. Think about the situation I am in..

As I told you before, I have played for four different teams in 10 years in the NBA and I have never experienced anything like this. I bet nobody can prove these “party machine” rumors.
Hedo: When the circumstances turned against me, I lost my enthusiasm for this city. My lawyers have talked to the front office recently. Honestly, I do not want to go back to Toronto. My lawyers talked to Mr. Colangelo and I hope that they will come up with a solution soon.
KK: The next game against Chicago, you grabbed 19 boards which was a career high.

Hedo: Yes, I tried hard.
Read the whole thing here http://blogs.thescore.com/tbj/2010/05/28/hedo-turkoglu-i-do-not-want-to-go-back-to-toronto/

The only thing I will say about this is, Hedo didn't play well from the beginning of the season. I heard that he was out of shape and after signing a contract like that, I don't blame the fans for getting upset with him.

Howard Makes Subtle Comment About Changes In Orlando

"It's very tough but we've just got to learn from our mistakes," the center replied. "Next year we've got to have guys that are willing to give everything they've got to get wins.

"In games like this or a series like this, it's not about skill or talent, because it's the Eastern Conference Championship. Both teams are talented and skilled. It's about who wants it the most and who is willing to do it for a series."

I never liked the trade to send Vince Carter to Orlando, I wonder if they’re going to try to trade him (if they can trade him) or move forward with him.

The Maloofs may or may not have known that the original owner of the Jazz tried for years to move to Vegas, he probably never wanted to move to Utah in the beginning, but it was the farthest West he could get. He had the Jazz play multiple home games at UNLV each year to show it was a viable locale (hence Kareem breaking Wilt's record at Thomas/Mack). Stern becoming commish put to rest any lingering hopes.

Wow have things gone downhill for Michael Beasley...

RealGM said:
The Nets have rejected a trade offer from the Heat that would have sent forward Michael Beasley to New Jersey for guard Keyon Dooling, according to ESPN's Ryen Russillo. Miami doesn't consider Beasley a part of their future anymore and is even looking at lopsided trades in an effort to clear additional cap space.
