Tiff Between Evans and Noc?

Evans isn't even close to those guys right now.

Though you could just anoint him that crown and await magical superstar success like fans have done with Peja and KMart in the past. Fanbase has been overrating the draft picks for years, why let a little thing like habitual losing get in the way?
its kinda funny how you get criticized for comparing peja and kmart to evans, yet no one finds anything wrong with comparing evans to jordan, kobe, lebron or wade.

Common sense tells me that comparing a top 4 pick ( Evans ) with peja and kmart ( guys who barely made it to the first round of their draft ) is really laughable.

Come on, you don't think you can compare Peja and Kmart with a #4 pick like Evans who performs at an amazing 20/5/5, do you?

The rookie Kid at 20 years of age is playing like Jordan, Kobe, Lebron, or Wade! Don't you see who the focal point of defense of whom ever team we play against?

You think that is comparable with what Peja and Kmart have done during their rookie years?

Entirely different class of players.

I admittedly sometimes have a hard time sorting out all the agendas from just not knowing the game, but Tyreke, is blatantly, and I do mean blatantly, on the superstar track that produces the MJs, LeBrons, Wades, and down on the lower end, the Paul Pierces etc. When you have a player filling up every column of the statsheet, when you have a player who is good at everything, and dominant at at least one thing, that's a superstar in the making. Peja and Kevin never were -- entirely different, and lesser, sort of player. That was obvious to anybody who knew the game. I pioneered resistance to those players as superstars no matter what the marketing department tried. Having me abruptly hop over to the other side of the fence once I got a load of Tyreke should tell you something. Having every player and coach in the NBA raving about the kid should tell something more. They know.

There are antis on every board of every team in the NBA. You troll around you will find that there are Utah fans calling for Sloan's head, Spurs fans callig for Pop's head, Chicago fans calling for Rose to be traded, Lakers fans who ahte PJ or think the team is better without Kobe, and of course back in the day a particularly spiteful group who despised Webber (ofttimes in favor of nice little Peja). In short, there are idiots everywhere. I expect there will always be some in Kingsland with Reke. Just the nature of people. Just foolish.

swissssssshhhhh has been underrating Evans for months, why let a little thing like his performance all season stand in the way of that, a season where as a rookie he is doing things in the company of hall of famers (yes, LBJ is a HOFer).

Tyreke is on Sports Line with Grant right now. Tyreke in his own words said Noc took a couple bad shots, I just wanted to win, and I said something to him that I probably shouldn't have, I lost my composure. I realize that he's a teammate and I can't come at him like that in front of everyone.

Reke apologized to Noc and the team yesterday in practice and everything is good. He said he's a rookie he's still learning and this is part of it.

Tyreke is a stud, and whether or not he apologized he was right. He wanted to win. Leadership material, I'm sure Westphal was smiling on the inside....

I heard what Reke said and it just shows how he "gets it" much more than your average 20-year-old. It's all good with Noc and all in the past now.

He also said he wants to be a team leader and how you handle such things as a learning experience is all part of it. Said his goal from day one of this season was to be ROY (even though he wasn't sure he'd be starter at beginning) and if he's named it's for Kings organization as well. Lastly, said he doesn't think he'll ever get a big head with all the future fame because his family/brothers constantly keep him straight.

All of this talk trying to compare Tyreke to Michael Jordan or Lebron James is a bit premature and starting to get out of hand.

People like to use the 20/5/5 line in comparison to Jordan and Lebron.....but you really can't make a direct-comparison because while Tyreke is going to be great, let's be honest here he is not going to be as good as Jordan or Lebron (I'm thinking he'll be more like Wade) and anybody who thinks otherwise is deluding themselves.

The same thing happened (in a different context) with Kevin Martin and Peja......most of the fanbase tried to anoint them as future superstars when in reality they were only one-dimensional scorers. While it's clear that Tyreke is more complete and is going to be much better than Martin/Peja......I don't know where all of these Jordan/Lebron comparisons are coming from.

First of all as a rookie Jordan averaged 28.2 PPG, 6.5 Rebs, 5.9 Asts, 2.4 Steals, and .84 Blocks all while shooting .515%

Tyreke's numbers are great for a rookie but to try and compare them to Jordan's is ridiculous. Furthermore while Tyreke is a very good athlete, he doesn't have the great leaping ability and speed that Jordan had which somewhat limits his ceiling. It's also doubtful that Tyreke has the same incredible drive and sheer will-power that Jordan had. This is not a knock on Tyreke....it's just the truth about Jordan......you can't compare them (at least not yet).

As far as Lebron goes......Tyreke is putting up very similar numbers to that of Lebron as a rookie (Lebron averaged 1 more rebound and almost 1 more assist) but again you can't compare them because Lebron is a once in a generation type of athlete. Lebron is 6' 8" and 250 and the most athletic guy in the league. Lebron has freakish strength, agility, and speed for his size which automatically gave him a higher ceiling to greatness than Tyreke. We are now seeing that ceiling as Lebron is putting up ridiculous numbers the past few years.

Realistically I think Dwayne Wade is the best comparison for Tyreke and that is a very nice comparison. Tyreke's playing style and body type are the most similar to Wade's and while he may not be quite as athletic as Wade he is closer to Wade than he is to Lebron/Jordan. The good thing is that Tyreke actually is putting up better numbers than Wade did as a rookie.

Umm ... I don't think anyone actually thinks Tyreke is going to be as good as Jordan or Lebron. Comparisons do not imply that they are the same, simply that they have similarities. Which in this case would be stats, and superstar status

Obviously the odds of him being Michael are, let's say, not high, but remember that Tyreke is 2-3 years younger than Michael was as a rookie. That's a huge difference in developmental years in basketball. And the LeBron compariosn remains intersting, not only because the numbers are in a similar class (and there remember that LeBron was actually 9 months younger than Reke as a rook), but because Reke is an overwhelmingly powerful athlete at his position too. Obviously LeBron is bigger and stronger, but LeBron is a SF. Tyreke's size/strength advantage over the guys at his position is every bit as serious.

As an aside, Wade is an entirely reasonable expectation. And Reke is so good we are throwing that around now as "hey let's be realistic here, Reke is ONLY going to be at Dwayne Wade's level." Like gee, darn and stuff.

Yeah but Wade was playing with Butler and Odom if I remember correctly and LBJ had Boozer in his 2nd year when LBJ was a rook.

I honestly don't remember too many people comparing Tyreke with Jordan. LeBron and Wade were the two most common names that came up, and I think it had to do more with the style of play as anything else. If you look at both LeBron's and Wade's rookie years and their style of play, its very similar to Tyreke's. If your saying that Tyreke's ceiling is Wade, then I'm not going to do too much crying about it.

I don't know how much you remember about Jordan when he was drafted, but although everyone certainly thought he was going to be a good player, perhaps a great player, I don't think anyone at the time thought he was going to be the best player of all time. So its hard to make blanket statements about a young player. Tyreke has holes in his game. Ironicly they're the same holes that LeBron and Wade had in their games. If Tyreke can repair those holes, there's no reason he can't be just as dominate as LeBron at his position. Something to look forward to.

Am I missing something here? If Tyreke's realistic ceiling is projected to be somewhere around the 3rd-5th best player in the entire league, I'll take it.

In his rookie year, he's a top-5 talent in taking the basketball to the rim. Astonishing since he's not really a dunker.

Wonder who won the "tiff" ?

Noc -DNP vs the Raps.

This is Evans team, kinda good to know we have a leader , kinda scary the guy has this much "power" already ...
Tyreke wnet on KHTK the other day and apologized to everyone...Nocioni, his teammates, the fans, his coaches. He said he was wrong for the way he handled things and he he was wrong for what he said to Noc. He said he learned something about the way he should have handled things. He also said he and Noc shook hands and everything was fine with them.

That's the kind of leadership I like to see. It's great to want to take responisibility/credit for good successes, but it takes a great person to take responsibility for their mistakes, apologize and learn from the experience.
