Tiff Between Evans and Noc?

Was listening to the radio this morning and Brockguy was on the air. Basically the Rise Guys were asking him about the altercation when Evans got sick of Nocioni's chucking up shots and called him on it. It was after Noc had thrown up two ill advised shots in the 4th (and I remember thinking at the time that Noc was gonna shoot us out of the game but thankfully he got pulled in favor of Cisco) and I guess Evans said something to him about his shot selection and they went back and forth for a minute. I didn't see that altercation but was wondering if anybody did and what your reaction was. I personally think Noc shouldn't be taking 4th quarter shots period, his cherries should be on the bench.

From what I have both read and heard, the word "altercation" isn't accurate. Tyreke simply called him out. Happens all the time in basketball. What is different, is WE finally have someone in Tyreke who is stepping into the leadership role, and willing to call guys out.

But anyone who has played competitive sports knows this stuff goes on all the time. Not a big deal. Guys leave that stuff on the court. I'm jst glad we finally have a player willing to step up and do that. Didn't happen when Kevin was here did it?

I'm not going to take sides here without knowing for sure what was said and what level it was said at. I'm not a big fan of Nocioni's shot selection at times. Sure I'll cheer at times when he hits the ill-advised three. But with Noc its one of those Oh NO! Yes! Things. I get the same feeling everytime I see Tyreke launch a three pointer. The difference between the two is that Tyreke is still learning where and when and how often to shoot from there. Nocioni is what he is. There's no learning curve going on with him.

So what I'll take from this suspossed incident, is that its Tyreke slowly imposing his will, and taking charge of the team. Whether Nocioni likes it or not is immaterial. He has no future here and I could care less what his opinion on the matter is. There are times in every command where you have to weed out the followers. The believers. From the desenters. The trouble makers. I think Tyreke is slowly taking over the leadership of this team. Nocioni can either follow, or get out of the way.

The team needs someone to call out Noc for chucking, but the team also needs someone to call out Tyreke for hogging.

Oy. The future of the team is actually pretty delicate.

Oh yeah, because thats what teammates do, they call out the superstar for hogging. They did it to Jordan, LBJ, Kobe, Wade. Pathetic your argument is.

Agree completely. The only thing I might suggest is that Nocioni might want to look into getting a new seat cussion. ;)

I was at the game in the upper level, and even I saw the "incident" very clearly. I believe it was after the sequence where Nocioni tried a fadeaway jumper in the post over Green, and got it stuffed back in his face. That was followed by the flagrant foul on Westbrook to stop the ensuing fast break (on a side note, shouldn't have been a flagrant, but that's another discussion). I think a few guys were a little peeved at Noc for that sequence, but nothing was said. The next time down the court, Noc tried to "go at" Green again with what looked to be him trying to "prove" something, and he missed again. That's when Tyreke started yelling at him. I thought it was warranted, and as long as it stays on the court and in the locker room, I don't have a problem with it.

Thank you for the summation. That was exactly what I was looking for. Tyreke telling him to knock it off because they were focused on winning and Noc was trying to prove his manhood. Good stuff.

The way I've heard the incident described is Evans called Nocioni out, and Nocioni took issue with being called out, possible because of a "Rookie" calling him out. There was a back and forth, as we've witnessed Nocioni's fuse can get lite rather easily. Which can be a good thing, except he directs it at his teammates to, see - "snapping at Beno earlier in the season".

I like Nocioni's fire, but he is wearing my patience thing. He needs to be objective and unselfish. If you get called out and you truly know there is no reason for it, ok have the discussion, but when you get called you need to take a step back and if you are chucking ill advised shots, then you need to say sorry and move on.

I'm hearing on Koz's show right now that F bombs were dropped back and forth in the conversation.

An eye witness just a few rows away from the court on Koz right now....

--Tyreke says something to Nocioni, it appeared what Tyreke said was in a non-confrontational way, and Nocioni snapped and went at Tyreke..Tyreke was very upset by Nocioni's reaction and went back at Nocioni.

It a lasted almost the whole time out, Cisco had to break Nocioni and Tyreke up. Casspi came over and helped calm Tyreke down. Then they both went into the huddle at the very end.

Nocioni out of the game at that point. He would not speak to anyone. Conversations happening around him with other players, but he just sat silent, stariing.--

The above is how it was relayed.

I'm actually happy to hear this. Tyreke has been a leader by example all year. Now he is learning how to be a vocal leader. This is exactly what we need. We need our superstar and future to call people out. If Noc has a problem then he can sit the bench. I don't think you'll find many of us complaining.

:D Kind of ironic to have Tyreke (a ballhog) calling out Nocioni (a chucker) for being too much of a chucker.

Seriously though....

Tyreke can often times be a black-hole and either dribble the ball way too much and force a bad shot or not look for his teammates on the fastbreak

but....

Tyreke is like Jason Kidd in comparison to Nocioni. To say that Nocioni's shot selection is bad would be a massive understatement. His shot selection is beyond terrible. How many times this year have we watched Nocioni force up a horrible shot with someone right in his face, way off balance, or in heavy traffic? The troubling thing is he always does it with plenty of time on the shot clock.....the thought of passing doesn't even go through his mind.......he's thinking shoot it before the ball even gets to him.

I thought Tyreke really moved the ball well yesterday and showed the ability of be much more of a playmaker for his teammates. The two passes to Garcia in the corner were both nice plays that displayed great court awareness and unselfishness. He needs to continue to make those kind of plays and make his teammates better.

So in the context of the game, Tyreke was absolutely right for calling out Nocioni on those horrid shots.

I wanted to hear if they were still talking about this, so I turned on the radio and Koz is talking about the Oscars. So, I turned the radio off.
Yeah around the time of my last post in this thread was when they were rapping up talking about that, had a guest and then went on to Oscar stuff.

Funny.
I was just thinking that something this team could really use is some true leadership on the court. A seasoned vet that is not afraid to call out guys and hold the team to a certain standard. I'm glad Evans is making steps towards being that guy, even at just 20 years old. We got ourselves a real gem here in Sactown.

Who cares? I was screaming at Nocioni as well during that portion of the game. I scream at Tyreke, JT, Donte, and Hawes too. It's sports, screaming is part of the package.

Thats not the point, and screaming at someone is not helping the situation. Screaming for screaming's sake is childish. But having a reason for the altercation ie.. to get the rest of the team on the same page and focused on the same result is humongous. Thats what leaders do. They don't just scream at people for making mistakes. They want to win, and if you are a detriment to that ultimate goal then you either get on the same page or BOUNCE.

evans should look in the mirror? theres been countless times where he takes it in against 3-4 people in the paint when theres atleast 2 people open on the perimeter...

Leaders aren't always right or perfect, but they are always leaders. If perfection was the standard for leadership...well you get the idea. Glad to see Evans sees himself as a leader for this team. We need it!

It sounds like two competitive players going at it. It sucks because i started to like Nocioni again. If we make the playoffs next year i wouldnt mind if Nocioni helped us get there. Tbh i'd rather see omri & donte splitting the minutes next season assuming there are no moves in the offseason at the wing pos but i have a feeling PW isnt going to let that happen that's why i'm ok with having Nocioni here. Hopefully him and Tyreke talked about it so they can play well together on the court.

Evans isn't even close to those guys right now.

Though you could just anoint him that crown and await magical superstar success like fans have done with Peja and KMart in the past. Fanbase has been overrating the draft picks for years, why let a little thing like habitual losing get in the way?

So Pedja and K-Mart are in the same category as Reke? I'm sorry but I think you're dead wrong. Reke has IT. IT is the nerve to take a game over and dominate. IT is the desire to take and make that game winner. IT is the ability to make an entire team and coaching staff pee themselves as they realize that they have to find a way to stop you. Now you can question whether he is in that first tier of stars or that second level of stars but make no mistake about it. He is a star in this league and will be for many years to come. This kid has so many things that he can do to improve his game yet already naturally dominates.

Pedja and K-Mart are good players to compliment and support guys with IT. They themselves lack IT and will never acquire IT.

Do you still hate Evans after all the time he'd shown he is miles way better than that kid who shall remain nameless?:p

Jordan, LBJ, Kobe, Wade. Look for these guys' accomplishments before they enter the NBA, look for their stats in their rookie year, and compare them with our potential Superstar Evans who is currently 20/5/5 in his rookie year.

And then come back here, let us see if you can have that courage again to say in this board that our KID is not even close to those guys right now.:D

Gosh, what's wrong with you?:p
