He's a work in progress, it's just not fair to give up on a rookie pg after 5 games. He's a gamble of a pick, but he also has the most superstar potential out of this draft other than Griffin. Let him play, so what if we lose. We not making no playoffs this year anyway.

Don't forget he also sprained his ankle pretty bad a couple games ago (had to leave the game). Of course, the Rubio fans probably don't give a crap; they just looking for anything to criticize. If Rubio was drafted instead of Evans, I would have given Rubio my support.
duh, of course you would, he's he who shall remain nameless... me and kingsgurl881's husband wouldnt argue all of the time because we'd all be watching the player that everyone in the world assumed that we were going(supposed) to draft.

What is so hard to understand about young players on a young team with a new coach making mistakes????

We're seeing progress every night. Maybe not a lot, but it's there. And the Hawks play with finessse and they know how to keep their poise. In crunch time, the kids lost their focus. They quit playing defense and they were lost...but it's not the end of the world.

If all you want to see is winning games, you need to find a different team to root for. This team isn't going to win a lot of games this year. But they're building a foundation for the future that could easily turn into something magical.

Calling Jason or Tyreke or any of the other kids names because they make the occasional mistake is what's WHACK. Geez...

Damn! Jason had a real comeback game, and all we want to complain about is 1 lousy play.
I'm sorry if I'm such a whiny complainer when I've only made one comment since the game ended. I'm not blaming Jt for the loss. He had a good game, he made a bad mistake end of story. Their were plenty of other mistakes to pick and choose from but since someone brought that one up, I gave my two cents.

I dont care how much stats you put up during the game if you whack it up during crunch time. He is not a rookie, and should perform as such. Thompson sucked before tonights game, and he will likely go back to sucking after.
OMG!!!! a SECOND year player `whacked it up in crunch time`..noooooooooo!!! this cant be!!! that never happends!!!!????

big friggan deal, jason had a great game. your the sucker for not giving him props where props is deserved.

I don't think you need to take it personally. There were several people making comments about JT ... and I think 6th was making, just like me, a general comment of dissent.

Russel Westbrook, Game 5 of career:
6pts (1-8FG) 1ast 2TO

Deron Wiliams, Game 5 of career:
9pts (3-10FG) 3ast 0TO

Tony Parker, Game 5 of career:
12pts(2-9FG) 4ast 3TO

Doesn't mean squat...yet.

The guy has a pretty good game out of countless bad games, and I should be giving him props? I'll be giving props to a player when he has some consistency to his game.

KF, please take no offense. It was not meant to be personal. I am a person who likes to look for the good things. I am happier as an optimist. My comment was really meant for all the pessimism I was seeing (not necessarily from you). I don't like downers and can do without them in my life. That's about me....not you.

There are a lot of positives that I see with team. They stayed right with a very talented Atlanta team and couldn't close it. Not surprising for such a young team. In Tyreke I continue to see glimmers of a guy who is going to really be a freaking nightmare for the opposing team - a shark among minnows. Thompson had a good game. Beno played well again. Noc is looking like the good player he was in Chicago. At times they really moved the ball extremely well, which was nice to see. It tells me they are becoming a little more comfortable with the offense with each passing game. They played hard on defense, and really I think they've played hard on D every game so far, they just haven't played as intelligently as Westphal would like. Overall, another nice game against a good Atlanta team.

Big difference of 7-21. I think he had 6 shots blocked. Should have been yanked in the 4th.

A couple of posts have been edited which necessitated deleting at least one other post that quoted said edited posts. Geez, folks. You can talk about the game and the team without resorting to the name-calling, etc. It's not that hard a concept to grasp. We've been doing it around here for years...

Now lets see some nobodies who tore it up in their 5th game.. Comparing stats in particular games like this means squat, and I am surprised that people try to bring that kind of stuff up.

Its no prob. I get defensive when people quote me in those situations because I feel like I'm some kind of leader in a movement of evil. I don't really consider my self an optimist or a pessimist... i just see both the good and bad.

As far as my analysis of the game goes...

-Beno stays on the bench... very good sub PG.

-Tyreke isn't getting enough lift on his layups, not sure if its a problem with his ankle, or just him.

-Thompson proved he's still the same good player he has been, but he needs to settle down on offense. He tends to just not think when putting it up. He missed about 3-4 shots that were just EASY because of this.

-People say Kenny brings D and rebounding but honestly... I have seen it yet. Not even in Memphis. He's taking minutes away from Brockman

-Mason is worthless to this team... Like Kenny people say he can defend... again, I haven't seen it at all.

-Kevin is hot, and not just on offense. I've been impressed with his increased hustle on defense. I don't know if thats the general consensus, but its what I've seen.

-Hawes had on OK game. Kind of disappeared on defense and on the boards again. I think he is too focused on running down to the other side of the floor and gives up on getting rebounds before the ball even has a chance to hit the rim.

Yah you should be giving him props! everyone knows JTs been having a tough time so far this year with fouls and he comes out and plays a great foul free game and keeps us (the reigning worst team in the league) competitive against a 50 win playoff team.

You've been around here long enough to know I don't make that kind of mistake Gary. I set that up and couched my terms carefully. You can't disprove a thing, and no amount of venom spewed forth toward Reke will avail you in this debate. I said simply it means nothing. I did not say it meant ANYTHING. Its game 5 of a rookie's season. It means NOTHING. Some great players have had good ones. Others have taken a while to develop. Some middling players are ahead of the curve, some good ones behind it. Means nothing (a slight exaggeration of course, but close to the truth -- you are still looking for signs and skills at this stage of a rookies career).

As I mentioend to another poster in another thread, no amount of venom is going to in any way impact whether Reke develops or not as a PG. You are wasting your time with your fascination. He will or he will not. My advice to you would be to chill and leave yourself an avenue of retreat in case he does work out. I know I always do no matter how dead set I am against somebody.

I completely agree with you. Rookies are going to have up and down games as they learn to adjust to be the NBA game. esp rookie point guards. But I think some people on here already have their mind dead set about Tyreke not being a true PG and there is absolutely no way to change their minds. Evans can average a triple double and make the all star game, and they would still find something to complain about. It's very frustrating. Sometimes I wish that Rubio would have came over to play for Minnesota, so I can do the same thing to Rubio. Nitpick his game to death. Just to return the favor. :D

Just got back from Arco...

Me and the group of people I was sitting with were HUGELY disappointed in the lack of fans/noise. The arena couldn't have been a bit more than half full.

Tyreke can be impressive when he hits his shots (spurt in 2nd quarter)...But when they don't go its ugly. I still am a sceptic if he will ever be a star and just cross my fingers he isn't Larry Hughes reborn.

I don't really get how Kenny 'Savior' Thomas (;)) gets his minutes over John 'Peaches' Brockman. Peach has gotten significant minutes in one game and impressed, so keep it happening.
Im not even a Kenny hater, but Brockman is essentially the same thing only younger and prbably hungrier.

Mason still gets minutes?

All in all, I really hope this team can start attacting fans again...This team tried and competed while we all know last year this would have been a 25 point blowout. They deserve some support because for the secondgame of the year it was pretty sad in Arco.

To what end?

Understand that I am not actually anticipating a reaonable response here and am just bascially setting a trap here to expose your bias, but feel free to respond anyway.
The offense was stagnet. Too much one on one. If his 3 point miss then next time had a wiiiiiiiddddddeeeeeeeee open 3 and hesitated so the defender could close from 15 feet to take 2 steps in to shoot a jumper shows his confidence in his jumper is low.

Seeing how he has the same thing before he hurt it .......

If that was your angle then I guess I missed it. I just have seen a lot of people quoting stats lately from specific games, and seasons to compare player A to player B, and it's quite comical.. So when I saw you do it I was taken back a bit.

How is this any different from Rubio? (because I know that's what you're driving at)

Is it sad that I wish we'd drafter Rubio even though I think he'll be worse than Tyreke just so I could read the Kings FAN boards without trying to sift through the piles of passive aggressive put downs on a Kings rookie in his fifth game. It really is exhausting and not fun.

Why is Rubio being brought up still? He's obviously not a King and will probably never be one..

But if Rubio was a King and sucking it up like Evans is I would criticize him too.

Some people on this board just seem like they were born with a silver spoon in they mouth..

Do you learn to walk before you can crawl? or run before you can walk?

Good things come in time, and with trial and error, you dont truly understand the good things untill you have seen the negative things.

you can call me a `blind homer` if you want.. At least I can recognize when there is improvement and positive growth.

Man some of you guys are going to have a MISERABLE cuple years as kingsfans. Why dont you just leave right now and join a Lakers or Celtics board. because it aint going to be pretty. theres no yellow brick road for this team.

I`ll quote the new movie zombieland for you

Rule number 32 `enjoy the little things`

and that seems like its damn impossible for some of you on here.

yeah I'm getting to that point too. or if he would have just come to play in Minnesota, so I can critic his game to death too! now that would have been fun!
