I thought that for the most part Thompson and Greene played pretty well. As they were the only two out there that had played together before, it was pretty much as expected. sloppy. Evans had some good moments and he had some bad one's. The good one's were enough to show what he's capable of and the bad one's, what he needs to work on. Casspi looked pretty good once he got the first game jitters out of the way. I think he could be a good player. He's more athletic than I thought, and has a smooth jumpshot.
It was the first taste of the NBA for most of the players out there. A small taste, but a taste. This is just the beginning. I don't put much stock in a player scoring 40 points in a summer league game and by the same token I don't put much stock in a player turning the ball over more than he should in a summer league game. Lets face it, if your game at this point is mostly penetration and every guy on the other team has 10 fouls to give, penetration just got harder.
Brockman was just Brockman. He looked like he was still at Washington to me. Somebody forgot to tell him that this was the NBA. I thought our interior defense looked pretty good at times. Especially when Greene and Thompson were both on the floor together. I thought our pick and roll defense left something to be desired. Evans needs to find a way to fight through those picks. Not unusual for a rookie point guard.
I thought that Evans, Thompson and Casspi all showed good passing skills. I thought that Brockman has good form on his airballs. I'll be anxious to see what adjustments are made by tomorrows game..
