Haha, whos in panic mode?

People seem concerned over Evan's PG skills.....But Evans not being a PG does not equal bust. Dude has legit size and elite length to be a 2. Honestly I see SG as his future position anyways. The fact that he has SOME pg skills is just icing on the cake.

If anything this thread has been nothing but optimism about Brockman, Greene, and (2nd half) Omri.

That being said....JT with only 3 boards?!?! BUST!!!1111!!11!1

i tried to watch the earlier game now that its over to make sure I was able to watch kings later. its not working. soooooo wtf I can't watch them live.
I did the same thing. I had the Warrior game on and when it ended they logged me off. I finally did get logged on. I took Massy's advise and did a restart on my computer and it finally let me in during the second quarter. The strange thing is that when the game ended, it didn't log me off this time and went right into the Laker game. Maybe they'll have it worked out by the next game. the qualitly we pretty good on my computer.

So will I be able to watch the Kings game in about 2 or 3 hours?

Hopefully! :) It appears to me that they simply didn't work out all the bugs before they started. Its strange that some people had video problems and others didn't. It may have to do with the indiviual broadband connection. My picture was clear. I did have audio problems in the second quarter, but they corrected it at halftime.

Too bad Battle is like....27 yrs old though, he could be a good stopgap bench big though.

So was Evans playing kinda hurt? I know he tweaked his ankle recently, didnt seem to hurt his penetration ability....We aughta nickname him Pornstar.

...I'm so getting mod'd for that.
Try closer to 29. He looked good, but I can't believe he makes the team over Brockman. What ever happened to Ike Diogu!? Are the Kings re-signing him or what? Battle looks a lot like Diogu out there, without the lottery pick potential of course.

I'm just playin....But as a JT homer I was a bit disappointed he had less then 15 rebounds.

I think he'll bounce back though. Arnt we playing the Warriors tomorrow? JT will flatten whatever 6'5 dude they tromp out to play C and Brockman is going to snap Randolph in half.

Not a good game - but hey, it's Summer League.

I'm still against the Evans-over-[Redacted and Redacted] draft pick, this doesn't lend credence to my feelings. But hey, he's a King and I hope he turns into a superstar and leads this team to the promise land.

He'll never be a pass-first PG, but I hope to god he doesn't end up like Randy Foye (too shoot-first to be a 1, not a good enough shooter for the 2).

I thought that for the most part Thompson and Greene played pretty well. As they were the only two out there that had played together before, it was pretty much as expected. sloppy. Evans had some good moments and he had some bad one's. The good one's were enough to show what he's capable of and the bad one's, what he needs to work on. Casspi looked pretty good once he got the first game jitters out of the way. I think he could be a good player. He's more athletic than I thought, and has a smooth jumpshot.

It was the first taste of the NBA for most of the players out there. A small taste, but a taste. This is just the beginning. I don't put much stock in a player scoring 40 points in a summer league game and by the same token I don't put much stock in a player turning the ball over more than he should in a summer league game. Lets face it, if your game at this point is mostly penetration and every guy on the other team has 10 fouls to give, penetration just got harder.

Brockman was just Brockman. He looked like he was still at Washington to me. Somebody forgot to tell him that this was the NBA. I thought our interior defense looked pretty good at times. Especially when Greene and Thompson were both on the floor together. I thought our pick and roll defense left something to be desired. Evans needs to find a way to fight through those picks. Not unusual for a rookie point guard.

I thought that Evans, Thompson and Casspi all showed good passing skills. I thought that Brockman has good form on his airballs. I'll be anxious to see what adjustments are made by tomorrows game..

Ewwwwah. Lets not compare him to Foye! Thats like making bomb jokes on an airplane or something!

Dude can get to the rim. His shooting will come along. I'd like to toss out the poor man's Wade comparison with the hope that maybe he can turn into a working class man's Wade.

When you have 1 starter from last year and 3 players who should get a lot of time next year get blown out by the other teams draft picks and scrubs there is cause to worry.
Exactly. Everyone knows the first game in summer league is a proof-positive indicator of how teams will do in the regular season and playoffs.

If the NBA preseason games are unreliable to judge how a team is going to do in the regular season, how much weight should you put in SUMMER LEAGUE games? I only use these games to look at skills, speed, quickness, athletic ability of players. There are always going to be summer league superstars that light up the games, but never make it to a NBA roster.

Maybe not, but he set up teammates with more easy shots than I remember beno doing in any single game last year.

Clearly I'm blowing his play slightly out of proportion, but he was driving and dishing quite a bit, even though it didn't show on the stat sheet since easy shots were being missed and the pistons were fouling to prevent layups.

Yeah but it's the first game of the SUMMER LEAGUE. Players are always gonna be rusty. We got a new coach as well, with a new system. OMG it's just one game, not even a preseason game. If we played like we played today, a couple of games through the regular season, then yes there will be reason to worry. But after one summer league game? I Don't think so.

And I think that they're is always room to improve with Evans running the point.

Patience People.

Lol so true. Did Donte Greens 40 points in the 2008 summer league say anything about the regular season for the Rockets or The Kings? Its the first Summer League game. Big whoop.

Next it will be its only pre season. It's only the first game of the year, its only the first week, its only the first month, its only the all star break ...........

I agree people playing great is nothing to get exited about, the opposite is not good when you look like crap.

Players being rusty goes both ways. They are all on an even field.

Detroit has a new coach too.

What stood out to me about Evans' penetration was that he likes to dish to guys around the basket rather than kick to the perimeter. Whether that was a function of the personnel we had on the floor today (not a particularly good shooting team) or just his style, I can't say.

Certainly with Martin-Garcia-Nocioni (and to a lesser extent, Hawes) around I'd like to see some passes moving inside-out, but it's encouraging that he's not intent on taking the shot himself every trip, and getting the big guys the ball in scoring position.
