Round 3

My Pick:
Don Cheadle

I don't really feel like I should have to explain this one, but he is one of the more diverse actors in recent history and I have him in mind for a very specific part.

Don't let my two picks drown in the obscurity of midnight, I want people to pay attention to who I picked. :D

Ugh. I was hoping Cheadle would last a couple more rounds. Nice pick.

Ditto for Rosario. I was hoping I'd get her later. Now I need to find another hot girl who'll fit my role.

Okay, finally time for me to declare a lead.

Sam Rockwell -- One of my favorites for several years now, so it's only fitting I give him the lead in this one. And, as it tends to be my biggest requirement when "casting" an intentionally cheesy exploitation flick, I have no doubts that he'll get the joke and give me the performance I need.

He's great with cheesy, especially when combined with smarmy. :D

OMG WHAT A REVOLTING DEVELOPMENT THIS DAY HAS BROUGHT...OMG MY DRAFT BOARD... :p to each and every one of you (and yes there were more than one of yous) who snagged somebody I had penciled in somewhere to do something in my flick.

good thing I have alternates...;)

I was thrown for a loop by the Dawson pick but, now that I think about it, my next pick works even better for what I plan to do. With my third pick, I select another member of my supporting cast:

Michelle Rodriguez

Bricklayer

Don't Make Me Use The Bat
And now that we have once again passed through the babes portion of the draft, back to Lowenherz's historic epic. :p

Why thank you Brick for that marvelous introduction. But fret not; I hear your cries for more babes in this draft and do I ever have one waiting in the wings:

Francis Ford Coppola

Just gaze upon that sweltering mass of masculine hottness.

I am of course picking Coppola during his Patton-Godfather(s)-Conversation-Apocalypse Now 70s prime.

But here's the twist: I'm not taking him for his auteur abilities, but rather his screenwriting skills as my specialist. A film will really only go as far as the script allows and having the scale, complexity, character development, dark exploration and attention to detail that sprang from (prime) Coppola's typewriter as my game plan will give my film a limitless ceiling for potential and is perfect for my sweeping epic.

Oh, and Coppola is crap when it comes to protraying "sentimentality" or love stories. Got it. Fortunately the relationship between my two lead characters should run right through his comfort zone.

Once again I will point out that this is not my choice, but Spike's choice. He says it will make sense in the end. So, here goes nothing...

don't need a drumroll this time

Brittney Spears (yep, that's what Spike said for female lead)

Ok, wasn't sure whether to progress here or not -- Jespher sent me both his #2 and #3 picks yesterday, but I think he's been on since then. But in the interest of keeping things moving along, and in case he's someplace where he can only pop on every once in a while, I'm going to go ahead and post his pick, and he can fill in any flouish later.

Jespher's #3:

Robert Zemeckis -- Director

are you kidding me? !!

Thanks Bricklayer. Here's some more info for hyperlinking purposes. This guy has had a versatile and award winning career. His unique talent is incorporating technology and immensely technical movie making into shots without the audience noticing it. He was the first director to integrate hand drawn animation techniques with live action in Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, and has recently delved into performance capture techniques in The Polar Express and Beowulf. He has won critical acclaim for his direction in Forrest Gump, Cast Away, and Contact, as well as a cult following through sillier films such as the Back to the Future series, Romancing the Stone, and Death Becomes Her. This director integrates high drama, comedy, story, characterization, plot, and cinematography brilliantly, and his technical savy is ideal for the type of film I wish to create. With my 3rd choice I select:

Robert Zemeckis (Director)

Ok...I actually just watched that youtube, and all I have to say is...why? He's got cgi, and bluescreens and photoshops and etc. etc. and all he is showing is a girl on the deck of her house, then her running downstairs, then back up to the bathroom medicine cabinet. Couldn't you just send out a location scout and find a nice house with roughly those features for a girl to actually run through rather than spending $100,000 on effects all designed to make it look like a little girl running through the house?

It's the innovation of it, plus the angle to go through the mirror to get the full emotional effect. It actually really works for the movie, trust me :).

Sorry if I've held things up.

My pick:

Morgan Freeman
Gives great presence, doesn't need to be a lead actor (and he won't be). He fits a role. Brings emotion and a realistic element.

There were a few different directions I could have gone. Hopefully at least one of them will be available at my next pick. But I just couldn't miss out on Morgan at this stage.

For my third round pick I'm going to go with a guy who has been a great actor for a lot of years. He's not going to be my lead guy, but I just think he's more likely to disappear than the guy I'm gunning for in that slot. This is about the age range I want him...

John Hurt

Thus far, every single one of your picks looks completely amazing. I can't wait to see what your final cast will look like.
