Kings sinking like the Titanic as the game threads are turning into obituaries. Kings are now 5-15, LOSERS of 8 straight and 8 straight at home. Overall 11 losses in the last 12 games some of them bad some of them worse some of them really, really ugly. The losing streak will most probably climb to 10 games as the Kings are playing lakers twice in the next week or so. After that the games against the Knicks and Wolves at home where Kings are pathetic 3-8 will present last opportunity for the streak to end before reaching maybe even 20 or so.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Piksi's pow(d)er rankings

5th worst record at this moment going on the 3rd worst by the end of next week is the only real good thing about all of this. Still the taste in the mouth is very, very bitter.

Playoffs ??? - we wouldn't even make the college NIT.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is not a season for retiring any jerseys. Period. Those guys deserve it but some other time, some better time. This is PR stunt/desperation act to sell some more tickets. I find it appalling that Kings legends like Vlade and Chris are used for that. How far will this go ? How many uniforms will be retired before there is a product on the floor that is deserving of being watched for what it is ? We can keep retiring jerseys every night. How about retiring "0" for Greg Ostertag and while we are at it - why not have him sing to us in his underwear ? Don't even want to predict what might happen when it is FTM's turn. At the end players will play in uniforms with Roman numbers. Maybe then Dickie B. will have some sympathy since this numbers remind him on his childhood.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We (I) have blamed the players and "coach" extensively for their shortcomings and there are plenty of those. After watching a 33 pt home loss tonight - I am going to blame people more responsible for this "situation". Someone has to be accountable for picking the coach and putting the team together. Someone has been giving MLE's each year, drafting players we don't really need, not taking more chances and most of all not being in touch with reality. Even last season they were talking playoffs. It is more than sad that fans have a better picture and idea of what the hell is going on. And we don't even have a clue:p
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This might be off topic but I too am going to complain about Angela Tsai or whatever name she has. I am not trying to offend women especially since there are plenty that are more than capable of doing a great job reporting or being a part of a broadcast. But she is something else. I am fortunate enough not to watch too many Kings broadcasts so I don't have the "pleasure" too often but when I do - well... Man, games are bad enough as they are - why make it more aggravating ? Can't they just put the GEICO commercial instead during that time ? Are those her ideas ? Being me - I always think - can this be worse in any way - and I realized - barely. What else can they do yo us ? Make us watch Horry's shot over and over and over again.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The next 2 games have a potential to be brutal beyond words. We will score more than 4 pts in each quarter but it looks like there would be a fair amount of garbage time. Whether we lose them both or win them both - thing won't change in the big picture but an improbable win would do so very much for the morale of everybody who cares for the Sacramento Kings. Sure we would have threads celebrating the playoffs and talking about all the things that won't happen but man - we really need that. Way too many people sound like me these days and that is not a good sign. This has nothing to do with lottery, rebuild, etc. It has nothing to to with Basketball at all. We need a win badly and it would be a small miracle. Do I believe in it - of course not. I never thought I would say this but I really wish we would have a Troy Murphy on our team.

BEAT LA !!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hell yes - I am going to watch it and I am going to support Kings to the bitter, bitter end. It is part of being a fan. You take the good times, the bad times, the ugly times as a part of being a fan. At the end - it is just basketball in a world with way bigger problems and challenges. It will hurt but it will pass. Imagine the absolutely worst kind scenario in the next 2 games. Will it ever come close to horrors from 2002 and 2003 playoffs, ones that some of us still have nightmares about ? Of course not. It won't even be close. I will sleep like a baby no matter what happens. And I remember being unable to sleep in Summer of 2002. Untill we are good again - nothing matters.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Nice to see players saying good things about "coach" in the media. They sure came out to back up that statement. The horse is dead and there is no point of beating it anymore. Talk is cheap and our players have plenty of that. what they don't have is credibility after such statements games. Such games make me wish that contracts were performance related. Our players would then have to pay just to be allowed to play.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Danthey had something to prove at least in his mind. He is what he is. No offense - good defense. We had no purpose for him. He wasn't going to make us defensive team. Not even Ron could do that. We knew all of that. There is no problem with the decision of cutting him. The problem is talking about defensive philosophy and then cutting defensive players while throwing MLE's to players that either never heard of defense or have a bad alergy.
----------------------------------------------------------------
We shot below 30% at home despite 3/4 of garbage time. It is much harder to do than You think. What else can You say about this game. We came out ready to suck and we did it hard gor 4 quarters deserving the big fat L. Nuggets have not had a practice in which they had it easier - ever. We weren't ready - physically, mentally we had no game plan and no clue. We didn't even play hard. Nuggets lead by double digits for over 40 minutes and not once did we get close to cut this and attempt to make this a game. Sad.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME

TDM went to Mr Balkman. He had it so easy and took advantage of it.

LW_VC went to Carter. He could play for us right now.

JHA went to Kevin Martin. That was a lot of nothing.

SAR - Methuselah award went to the whole team who looked older than Mutombo

Mikki went to Brad who almost scored

WTF moment of the game - the game
------------------------------------------------------------------
Lakers are next and they are scary in our situation. They are 16-2 and they have the second lineup as good as our first. If we don't come out to play - it will be fugly on a level known to only to SFM. If we play great - we might lose honorably. In order to do that we would have to do all these unknown things like defend, play smart etc. It is to be expected that lakers will once again have good support at ARCO so get ready to MP3 chants.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Kevin - stay out until You are 100%. No need to rush. We can't even win the golden pineapple.
Brad - If You are hunting the way You are scoring - stay close to civilization because You will starve.
Hawes - Starter in his 2nd year - good enough for now
Salmons - maybe a good game for a change
Beno - not good at all

Mikki - playing better and better and when his minutes are cut altogether - he will be perfect
Thompson - 10 offensive rebounds would be more impressive if they didn't follow so many missed layups. Make a layup kid.
rest - mateeen.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
When You play someone who is 16-2 and 7-1 on the road - stopping losing streak is a tall order. They have the depth that will most certainly wear us down. TDM will go to Sasha to ad insult to insult. LW-VC will go to Odumb. It is a tall order for us to even compete and since we don't have a chance anyway - might as well take advantage of it.

I just hope it's not a repeat of that 1987 game where the Lakers were beating us 40-4 at the end of the first quarter. I actually think that's possible. I'm reading from "Reynolds Remembers" on page 47 where he says the Kings were 14-31 before that game. I think that record's possible too. Actually since we're 5-16 now, we're not even on pace to be that good.

Oh come on VF your not kidding anybody. You LIKE ME even though we are losing love seeing players like Hawes, Thompson, Greene, Brown, even down to Marin, Garcia, and Udrih have those special moments in the game where the score doesn't matter it was just a great play and something to look foward to in the future.

Come on VF we need ya girl. You are usually higher on the optimism totum poll that I am. Don't bail on me now. :D

If Kevin Martin is out again, I can only cringe at thinking what lineups Theus will bring out to face the Lakers. I'm old; I'd rather remember the last good game we played against LA than watch a fiasco from Arco with Laker fans vastly outnumbering our own.

It's not going to be a pretty game. I love our Kings and I have the utmost faith that they will eventually right the ship, but I think I'm just a little too down right now to think about Tuesday.

I blame Reggie for a lot of the stuff we're seeing right now. I blame Geoff Petrie and the Maloofs ... and I'm not sure Slamson may not have had a paw in the whole sordid mess. And, of course, I blame Finley.

Now where is that Corona I had stashed away?

I'm sure my sunny disposition will return but right now I just want my Kings back.

Yeah we are going to get killed. I'm going to watch anyway but I'll have it on mute so I won't have to hear the stupid "MVP!!!!!!11ONEONEONE1!" chant every time Kobe is at the ft line.

If I end up going to the game, maybe I'll download some heavy metal on my Ipod and crank it up at full blast every time Kobe's at the line so those chants will be drowned out. Maybe download some Rev Theory... ok not them.

I actually liked Rev Theory. Hearing them in Arco would be totally preferable to hearing a bunch of obnoxious Laker fans... They did a great job on opening night.

I was just kidding about Rev Theory. They're allright. And yes that definitely preferable to hearing MVP chants. Maybe the sound system can crank up Rev Theory when Kobe's at the line. I don't think the league would allow that though.

I dunno what you guys have been watching, but LA is playing mediocre ball these days and they give up leads as quickly as they build them. Now they say they want to fix those problems. Question is, whether that starts as they hit Sacramento. If not, you may have a chance to be there at the end of the game.

Words of wisdom for Theus, play BU 45 minutes. Run as much as possible.

Unfortunately this year, being there at the end of the game doesn't mean very much. We've found ways to lose you couldn't begin to imagine...

:p

I don't want them to even try defense (Olé!)... I think run and gun and run and gun and gun and run might be our only chance, especially if we keep the young legs on the court.

I am going to watch the game. I couldn't do otherwise - I'd find a way to make it all MY fault if we lost. I am, however, going to have the sound muted. I will not listen to our own commentators invariably start waxing poetic about the greatness that is Kobe Bryant and I will not stand for listening to chants of anything other than "Die Laker scum!!!"

This game is going to be up to the players. You can lose and you can LOSE. Or, of course, you can win. In all honesty, though, I don't expect us to win.

It won't be whether we win or lose that makes a difference. It will be whether or not the team is competitive or if they come out and mindlessly go through the motions. If they get ticky-tack fouls, technicals, etc. and show a total lack of faith in each other and the coach, the Kings fans in Arco, who will most likely already be on edge becasue of the projected number of Laker fans who will be there, could turn on their team and be pretty vocal in their frustration. That could easily signal the end to Reggie Theus' career as our head coach.

I know it would be a stretch to even say we'd take this game, but I think we have a better chance this game than we have with the other game...mainly because, as Brick mentioned in his grades thread, the Lakers are not even playing defense anymore. Of course that goes in line with our public humiliation that we put up in Denver, so maybe things will even out and we'd still be blown out as the end result, but I don't think we'll lose by 30-40. Maybe more like 10-20, although that's probably not of any solace.

Ah, gallows humor. And it's not even January yet.

The human capacity to laugh when we feel like crying and/or throwing ourselves off bridges truly amazes me.

I agree because that style works against LA. What the Pacers did was up the tempo and have Ford abuse Fisher and Farmar all night. Neither can keep their guy in front of him and they've already proven they can't check Beno. Indy kept it ugly and fast against LA's starting unit w/ two lumbering Cs.

Here's the enigma. It's the pressure of LA's subs that's done the most consistent damage this year, especially that of Ariza. There's a bigger disparity between them and the opp's bench than there is w/ the 1st units. They build the leads. However, they aren't smart/tough/etc enough to keep them, largely because they build the leads thru trapping and holding leads is best done w/ Kobe, Bynum, and Gasol on the floor. Indy erased a 16 pt 4th quarter lead and won at the buzzer. The same exact scenario happened the other night in D.C. Caron was an inch from winning the game at the buzzer after a 17 pt comeback. I already know it's in every team's scouting report that LA gives up leads, so Sac will be told to stay plucky for the whole game no matter what.

I wish you the best of luck as far as staying injury free, but here's where we must part. ;)

I apologize for such dumb mistake. Should not have happened.;)

To my defense - they happen so fast - I kinda lost the count here.

And if You read any of my intro's - You would realize that I am not dissing but glorifying the losses for years now.:p

God help me, I'm considering going to this game. I just can't bear the thought that fans of that "other" team might actually outnumber Kings' fans. On the other hand it would be totally humiliating to turn into a blubbering blob of purple in public. :(
