wow

Kevin has been great but Rip has a ring and finals and conference finals and all star game etc...

Maybe one day but not just yet.

I understand that emotions are high right now but making a statement like that ...

Yeah he has a ring and finals and all that **** but so does Francisco Elson are you telling me he is better tham C-webb because Webb doesn't have a ring. I said Martin is better than Rip I never said the kings now are better than the championship Pistons. I understand you emotions right now but your statment of the ring thing is ignorant. Is Udonis Haslem better than Karl Malone, Charles Barkely because they don't have rings. Come on piski your are usually smarter than that statment.

How about the fact that Hamilton is the leading scorer on a championship team; I'd say that makes his achievements marginally more valid than Francisco Elson's, wouldn't you?

Rip Hamiltons best year 20pts 3reb 3ast 1stl

Kevin Martins first year as a starter 20pts 4reb 2ast 1stl

get back with me at the end of this season for a revised version.

So because Kevin doesn't have the team around him that Rip does that makes Kevin inferior? Answer me this would you trade Kevin for Rip?

K-Mart isn't that good

This thread is made for the ppl that seem to be appauled by the fans lifting a player up on a pedistal after a great game. This is where you should bring him back down not the other thread.

This will be my last post in this thread.

Didn't Webber come back and have two good games in 2004, and then went on a huge slide? I think making the assumption that Kevin will keep this up might be a little too optimistic.
Well, with what the kings have now compared to what they had back then, I think it's ok to be optimistic...

Doesn't happen as much as it used too. Although our record hasnt gotten any much better compared to last season, the games are definitely more entertaining and better to watch. It's also nice to see the kings giving all they've got...

=)

AWESOME WIN TONIGHT!

if people think martin is not as good as rip right now i can understand just from what rip has accomplished but im sure 90 % of the people on this board will say that martin is going to be better then rip if not a whole level higher then rip. think of a hybrid rip mixed with superman

I guess the poster of this thread is not a fan, not of the Kings at least. Putting players on a pedestal after a great game is WHAT FANS DO!!!! Particularly this year when there have not be very many occasions at all to do that.

And having Salmons and the winning basket as he did means two pedestals for tonight, at least for me and other real Kings fans. HOO AHH ! ! :D

Yeah, but career averages:
Kevin 13.8 points
Rip: 17.9

Kevin's just a kid, and, coming from a weak college team, had a LOT of adjusting to do his first year in the NBA. He only got 5 minutes in the average Kings game, his rookie year, because all he could do was to shoot, badly (38% FG, 20% 3s, 65% FT).

Rip, on the other hand, played a so-so rookie year, then followed it with 8 years between 17.6 and 20.1 points per game, with very consistent percentages.

So I'm not saying that either one's better than the other, but Rip has already earned everyone's respect, which is still an ongoing process for Kevin.

Man, KMart was one bad dude tonight!! I mean, I haven't seen that kind of performance since MJ was at HIS prime. A great confidence builder, not only for KM but for the team. Capped by Salmons game winner and Brads line plus big time Cisco and Beno.

And later this week we have Bibbs and RonRon off the bench!! Can't wait.

Wow, it didn't take long for this thread to be Kingsfans'd.

What a night by Kevin Martin. I like the way the Kings are playing right now. I feel like we can beat any given team on any given night (Although usually we don't). I guess I'd have to after tonight. Amazing ending to the game.

Incredible performance by Kevin tonight. Totally awe-inspiring. And to paraphrase Grant, if you don't like that, you need to find another sport to follow.

I love this team!!!

NOTE: The people who are dragging out the comments about the thread being "Kingsfan'd" are actually more disruptive than anyone else. Just celebrate and enjoy, folks! You don't see performances like that, especially against quality teams, every night.

Why are you so bi-polar? Is it no longer allowed to think that a Kings player is good without believing that he's great?

And not for nothing, but put Richard Hamilton on the Kings, and he'd average 25 a game, too. Put Martin on the Pistons and he'd average 18, just like Rip is doing right now.

Erm, what?

Rip Hamilton isn't on the Kings. Kevin Martin and he had an incredible game against a quality opponent. I happen to think that's pretty damned great.

Not you, Entity. Someone suggested that Martin is on an equal level with Rip Hamilton, and he had a ****ing embolism.

I think that the Rip/Kevin comparisons are more apt for being used LAST season, not this season. I think that, and I know I'm going to get beat up for saying this...and normally wouldnt make such a bold statement...but, I think Kevin's game has evolved so much, and he's improving at such a rapid rate, I think that it might be safe to say that Kevin's game has surpassed Rip's game, even when he was in his prime. He was a consistant 20 pt. scorer, very effective...which is what Kevin was LAST year...this year, he's built on that effectiveness, and is taking that to higher levels that I dont even think anyone could have imagined, no matter HOW much faith you had in him. This is just crazy the way he can step on the court for 20 minutes and throw up 30 pts...and in tonight's case, 27 minutes and throw up 40. Offensive efficiency doesnt get any greater than that on a basketball court, if you ask me. I'm glad he's on our side, that's all I've got to say.

LOL I got chastised a couple years ago for saying Kevin reminded me or Rip when he had the 10ppg avg off the bench.

K-Mart won't have Rip's averages for a few more years because Martins first year he put up 2.9ppg. But never the less I do think they have similar games (Rip of 4 years ago, and Kevin today except for the 3pt shooting).

I do think Martin will be better (if he isn't already), and will be a perennial all-star. And tonights game is proof of how good this kid can be. WAR K-MART! :D:D:D

The only bone I have to pick with K-Mart is that he hasn't really been put on a really good team as of yet. If put on a team like like Mavs, or the Suns I don't think they would skip a beat, and Martin would actually make them better. The Pistons though are a different story. I feel Martin would probably not make them any worse, but not make them a lot better either. Same with Rip on the Kings.

Yahhhhhh.. But how about my predictions about Garcia? Pretty good eh?

Kevin did all the things you want your star to do in crunch time. Good, heady play and its what we've been missing over the 12 or so close losses. I know the thing said 9 by 6 or less, but there were a few where we absolutley blew it with 3 or 4 minutes left. Good to see him back.
