As expected Kings lost to the very arrogant and highly desintressed Celtics team which looked very annoyed having to play a team that they apparently considered NBDL material. Kings put a good effort but still dropped to 8-13 for the season which is the 7th worst record in the NBA. Kings hold the worst road record in the NBA - 0-9. Kings continue this 5 game East Coast road trip with a back to back set in Philadelphia and DC. Kings will continue to look for a road victory to get rid of that chocolate glazed dough nut that they have in the road victory column. Kings have things working in their favor like theory of big numbers, coincidence and such. Eventually - they will win one because the NBA is filled with bad teams who are capable of stinking it up with the best at home.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kings have got to win a road game at some point. I am sure that in the NBA history there have been occasion when teams went the whole season without
winning on the road. It won't happen to us because there is plenty of teams out there that are worse especially when we are healthy (like that would ever happen). Might even happen on this road trip but it won't be easy because we play teams that will behave the same way that we do @ ARCO. Sixers tonight will play with way more energy that Celtics did. Wizards will be waiting rested as we play back to back and they play well without agent 0. Then we go to the Nets and they have been struggling big time and they need to win a home game and they will try hard. Finally Bucks will want some payback because the situation is reversed this time as we are on the back to back night on a last game of a long trip. We can win any of those games but we can certainly lose them all.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
You know that You aren't a legit team when Your opponents don't take You too seriously any more. Celtics just did that and we looked good and it appeared during the game that we were right there and had a chance. Well, appearances are deceiving big time. If Celtics played the whole game the way they played the 4th quarter - we wouldn't have scored 60 points and it would have ended so bad that even Knicks would have felt much better about themselves. Celtics didn't even use Garnett as much as the would if they needed it. practically, it took them 4-5 minutes of the 4th quarter to finish us off. And we actually played a decent road game and if the game was @ ARCO - we even might have won it. Same league but different worlds.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Playing the Sixers creates a perfect opportunity to revisit the Webber trade. It feels like it was done lifetime ago and yet it feels like yesterday at the same time. If we only could go back in time. It takes one dumb decision to ruin years and years of good work. Looking at 2 franchises - Philly is in a better shape right now, not much better but ... They have managed to clean the house and they paid lot's of money to do it. Webber was bought out and the other guys were irrelevant in the big picture anyways. Kings have not recovered yet. From the 3 flexible pieces the most valuable one retired, the other was traded for a player who was let go and Kenny F Thomas is still around driving us crazy night after night. It is even easier to get rid of annoying telemarketers than KT. He will be around for a bit longer wasting playing time, missing layups, turning the ball over, not playing defense, being to slow and too short etc... It was a lose - lose trade for both teams with the difference that the Kings are still losing and the Sixers have moved on.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I think that we should start some campaign "Kenny Thomas - The Garnett Stopper - and we should target the Eastern Conference because everyone in the west has seen KT play and they won't be facing Garnett anyways. In Soccer world intercontinental scouting is done on tapes and hearsay. I am sure if we go trough KT's career we can find around 10 minutes of footage where he did positive things. We could put that on the tape together with his defense from last night and his career game when he destroyed Luke Walton and put up a triple double if I remember correctly. That might be enough for team in the East to take him of our hands. We wouldn't even require a young player or a pick. We would settle for something that expires before the Armageddon.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
For almost a decade we used to own Celtics and it looks like that will change at least for a while. They are too good for us and they only played as much as it was necessary. If You look at the game stats You can see why the bikini analogy works perfectly. One could see the numbers and say well Celtics got more free throws and Kings had too many turnovers. All other stats are even or in the Kings favor. That night - it was irrelevant. Better team just played enough to win and the weaker team played as hard and as good as possible on the road just to make it look presentable.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD-TIME

TDM went to Glen Davis and during the game obviously I went - who the hell is Glen Davis and someone told me that they call him the "big baby" or so. I don't know whether he is still breast fed but he has posted a career high in scoring and FT made. Something is telling me that this isn't the last time that he has won the TDM award.

LW-VC award went to Kevin Garnett just for making KT look like a decent defender and for hurting my fantasy team by not playing hard.

JHA award went to KT and that is an upgrade from usual awards that he has been getting. While he did better than usual - he was still awful and I wish he could play for the Lakers.

Rondo won the RA&1 award. Luckily Celtics only need him to bring the ball up because he can't do anything else. Heck even Refer Alston makes ashot from time to time.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sixers ae next and it is a winnable game but I am sure that the Sixers think the same. They are 9-13 and 6-8 at home. They have been playing better as of late. They are on the 4 game winning streak courtesy of Knicks twice, Wolves and Rockets. 3 of 4 were at home and I dare You to take a guess which team they beat on the road. So the play at home, they have the momentum and the talent is fairly even considering us being short handed. We have to match energy and rebound. That will give us a chance in the end to suck less and win the game like we did against the Bucks at home.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Beno - nice matchup with Miller
Ron - go inside
Mikki - maybe this time he can look more like he belongs
Brad - we need much more
Salmons - hey maybe playing the former team will get him to be even sexier.

Cisco - what else is new
Hawes - need more time
Douby - not taking advantage of the opportunities
KT - Garnett stopper. If You want Your team to win the Eastern conference - You need a Garnett stopper and KT is he ultimate weapon. He is on sale - 120% off.

rest - garbage

Coach T - let the kids play. Where is Justin ?
-----------------------------------------------------------------
I look at Sixers roster and I see - Korver, Evans,Smith, Booth, Dalambert etc. What do they have in common - they have all at least once won the TDM award which isn't easy when You play with Alan Iverson. This time I will go with soemone new, let's say Young. I mean - when Glen Davis did it... This will be a close game. Might not be pretty at all but it is winnable.

...now that's like opening the biggest, most beautiful Christmas present under the tree, only to find it empty...with a note saying that it'll arrive eventually. ;)

Well Brick - if You could see what I see in this exams and if You knew how many premeds have no clue about science - You would realize that You as a lawyer will never go out of work. I have a list of about 60-70 people who wanted to be doctors over the years - If i go in the doctor office and I see or recognize them - I just walk out:rolleyes:. You don't get As - You have to earn them. I am way tougher grader than You are:p

Angry students

I'd take the angry students. And as for the "100" board members, try adding a digit and make it 1,000.

I'm old enough to remember that exams were ones that had questions, to which one had to write out the answers in a big, blank space below the questions.
  • No multiple choice answers to prompt one's memory...
  • no taking a 25% chance (in a 4-set multi-choice) of getting it right...
  • no looking slyly over one's shoulder to see the multiple choice marks made by a bright student and copying them.
Just a big, blank and terrifyingly empty space that had to be filled with something that at least wouldn't make the teacher cringe and for a grade that is somewhat north of "F".

Take a looky at this:

Imagine any 8th grader today trying to do that exam, much less anyone in the 12th grade, much anyone in college.

And this one:

http://www.rense.com/general/1865.htm

Holy smokes! That's one tough test that I would have trouble with, despite my strength in English/writing.

I hope that my above comments are not to be construed to be political...I'm just reminiscing the "old" days and, btw, I wasn't even born yet when that 8th grader aced that 1954 Constitution exam.

I read that today's students (not all of them, of course) are quite clever in getting answers through text messaging, leading to bans of the devices in classrooms...is that so?

Kudos to you, Piksi, for being a teacher.

And this thread is supposed to be about basketball...well I used to practice 3-pt shots with wadded-up papers in the classrooms and made most of them with my first shot, actually. No kidding. Even today, my first quick, spontaneous shots are nearly always the best ones that frequently hits the target, no matter what the target is; subsequent shots usually miss the mark when I have time to think about my shots.

Mozart,
As a high school teacher, I can assure you that your comments are correct regarding the difficulty of exams and the cheating taking place. Not only do they text each other answers, but with camera phones, they take pictures of the test and then send it to their friends who are in later classes. I haven't caught anyone doing this in my classes because I keep a pretty close eye on what's going on, but that's not to say it hasn't happened.

Back to basketball, this is a road game we should be able to win in order to get rid of that fat goose egg away from arco.

GO KINGS!!!!

I feel the same way about people I went to college with. I KNOW how some of them spent their college years. I'm sure there have to be critical parts of their education they've totally forgotten.

Our first road win later today...think it's safe to say.
I keep telling myself that but we all know about this teams ability to change the way they play in just a matter of minutes. One minute they look great, passing the ball and moving around...then the next minute they look dazed and confused totally forgetting the good things they did in that same game.

A pretty bold prediction there, dont ya think? Andre Miller and the 'other' A.I. will be waiting in the wings when we get there, unfortunately. Oh, and Ashton Kutcher(Kyle Korver)is back from injury now, too, and Willie Green will be a tough matchup for us, as well. All we can do is hope, right?

Philly favored by 5. Go with the house...

Well, let's put it this way. Maybe not tonight, but with 4 straight weak opponents, at SOME point during this road trip you would expect to break through. Maybe even more than once. Only hesitation is that they are two pairs of back to backs.
