I know who I would LIKE to be the starting PF as I am sure all of you have your own opinions of who it SHOULD be. But who do you actually think it WILL be. I would like it to be Justin but, I am guessing Mikki because of his size and athletisism plus experience and the fact that Theus doesn't want the exact same lineup as last year. He has to come with a different look for now.

Brad Miller. I don't think it really matters who starts at PF. It's more about who ends up with the most minutes and who finishes the game in the 4th quarter. Basically, the same answer for all the other positions as well. A lot is wide-open as Coach Theus has said going into camp.

Hah, Justin Williams would be awesome to start...Probably never gonna happen.

Hurrah for either SAR or KT as our starting 4! We either get someone who's washed up or someone who's a pouty midget.

It would make me so happy if they gave Williams a chance to start for a couple of games to see how he can do. I was checkin out the training camp thread and saw that pic of him and (Skinny!) Miller....Dudes starting to look like Big Ben in the upper body!

Alot of videos and such on Justin Williams on Kings.com its seems as though they are highlighting him for now.

Justin makes sense. You have offense at every postion and Justin seems to be the ideal role playing PF with defense and shot blocking. I think the only thing that would keep him from starting is how comfortable he is on offense. Like is he lost and never seems to be in the right place and does he hit his FT's.

I would love it to be Justin. He could be a legit double-double guy as a starter. But I think it will end up being Mikki Moore, who I am cool with too.

Justin could average double figures just on put backs and dunks. And really who cares how you get your points, the objective is just to have more than the other team. I would like to see Justin at C though and Brad at 4.

Reggie said that the rotation will be decided by effort and defense. TIme to stick to his words, be a man and start J-Will^2.

Hey, I'm all for starting Justin, especially with his heart, dedication and determination he applied this summer...he definitely needs a shot. That said, I think Mikki should bring that same energy, as well. But I guess we'll have to wait and see...cant wait until pre-season starts next week!:)

Ah..the wording of a poll. I'm with everybody else -- it SHOULD be Justin. enough of these old mediocrities. If Geoff won't rebuild, maybe Reggie should just do it for him.

Unfortunately such a move would have consequences, both in the locker room and likely with the Maloofs as they watched our $20 million of accumulated veteran garbage at PF sit on the bench collecting cobwebs.

Ironically what is beginnning to sound like an injury of significance to Hawes may have freed up some minutes for Justin -- but at center, not power forward.

And at PF...? Kenny seems to have skipped all team participation this summer and has likely taken himself out of the running before we even start. Otherwise it wouldn't have surprised me to see him actually get the nod just for relative energy/boardwork. Mikki will have the enthusiasm, but may actually hurt himself by being the guy most willing to come off the bench. And a team who starts Mikki Moore is ateam in trouble. Which I guess we are, but that's just running up the white flag of desperation. Reef said something general about a knee procedure this summer (presumably meant to be positive, although could go either way), but also was likely one of Reggie's primary targets when he was talking about defense/rebounding/no rotation. So...I'm actually going to guess Mikki, just because he will buy in more than the other guys. But there is not way you could get me to put money on that.

I don't get the whole idea of "if they make millions we must play them".

What's the difference if they are on the bench or playing? the Kings are going to suck this year. Might as well see some effort out there on the floor. Either way the Maloofs' are paying these guys (this year at least) to lose.

My, but this is a depressing poll.

The only of the four options I'd like to see starting is a youngster who can't shoot and likely won't see many minutes.

W00t.

The whole team can shoot (on a good day). That's about the only thing we're good at. Having a guy who can dunk over people, on putbacks, on alley-oops and hang on the rim with authority is pretty nice for a change.

I know.

That's why I'd like to see Justin starting.

Problem is, he won't be.

And if he won't, I'll be pissed the hell off at Theus. The whole 'work' and 'defend' spiel, making example out of Bibby (not undeservedly) will all be for naught if he chickens out the on the first opportunity. Justin deserves that starting spot under these conditions more than any other.

Go ahead, Reggie, show everyone that you've got a pair. Do the right thing. I believe in you.

Actually Miki could end up starting as Center with Miller offically at PF. I noticed that the Kings.com web banner shows Cisco, Brad, Miki, Kevin, Bibby and Ron... I would hesitate to read very much into that but it does say something.

I think that SAR will get the nod, and thats if his knee's are healthy. I think Moore will come off the bench behind Miller at center. Thats the position he played before. I see no playing time at all for KT. My hope is that Justin will get the most minutes behind SAR. The dude simply needs to improve his FT percentage. Otherwise he's a liability at the end of games, a time when you would want him in there for his defense.

Justin should start. If not, Theus's credibility is subject to question. If Theus does start him, then it definitely sends the message that he wants to send - defense is a priority. Besides, as others have said, we have offense at all the other positions.

Personally, I'd like Douby to start over Bibby for exactly the same reasons (I'm assuming that Bibby is not and will not be a better defender than Douby). Will it happen? Probably not.

I have a feeling that the lines in the sand will be constantly moving...

y'know.... if the league would let the kings start 6 players this year, they might actually go places!

Justin & Brad will start at the 4 & 5 positions. I have confidence in Reggie, at least until be proves unworthy of the trust. Reggie is experienced/smart enough to know that he needs rebounds and blocks to have a fighting chance. Only Kenny and Justin are exceptional rebounders, and of those two, only Justin has exceptional shot-blocking abilities.
However... unless Justin improves his free throw shooting, he won't be finishing many games.

Well Imagine the inclusion of Cisco was in hpes of 6th man status... but ya never know maybe New Coach Guy really DOES paln to compleetly change the game.

I really think SAR will start, but I'd love to see Justin get that spot.
Did you just see the feed at the top of the page?

Kings F Shareef Abdur-Rahim, rookie Spencer Hawes to rest balky knees

http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-kingsinjuries&prov=ap&type=lgns

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- Sacramento Kings forward Shareef Abdur-Rahim will take at least three weeks off to rest his surgically repaired right knee. The Kings also said Friday that first-round draft pick Spencer Hawes will travel to Seattle on Tuesday to get a second opinion on his sore left knee from his personal physician.

Truly depressing poll indeed, but shifting to five years ago, unbeknownst to Shareef's injury problems and KT's malignant tumorish attitude, both of them were qualified starters. One was a former all-star, the other was a starting role player. The problem is, this is the now, the sinking ship of age-old PFs who simply provide offense with little height/defense, and such, not exactly the perfect complements for our scoring perimeter players.

That said, it's time to unleash another young player into consistent minutes. It was Kevin a couple years back, last year it looked to be Garcia, but this time, it's got to go to a big man. I'd prefer the minutes to go to Williams for now rather than what appears to be the unathletic, "soft" stereotype in Hawes (not saying he's those two, but he may be a carbon copy of a young Brad Miller). With these injuries to Rahim and Hawes and with Theus's defense-first, young energetic approach, I think the writing's on the wall for Justin to finally get minutes. My vote goes to him.
