Lottery position thread

Minnesota lost tonight, but NY won (they traded away their draft pick, and have no reason to tank), so now we're in 10th place. NY and Indiana are 1/2 game behind us, NO/OKC is 1 game behind us, Golden State is 2 games behind us, and everyone else is going to the playoffs.

(Off-topic: Jason Hart has 16/6/5 tonight, on 7/12 shooting, plus a steal and no TOs. What is our problem lately with utilizing players and getting them to be effective for us?)

Oh, it's easy to get something out of Jason Hart; all you have to do is get rid of your starting point guard, your backup point guard, and your third-string point guard.

Isn't that just a rehash of the old "tanking" discussion? If we do it, what's to prevent the other crappy teams from doing it?
I'm willing to take that chance! What have we got to lose, except a few meaningless games? And look at the potential reward. ZERO risk, huge potential gain. I wish I could find an investment like that on Wall Street.

And you still run the risk of NOT getting one of the best draft picks...
So, what are you risking exactly? The right for King's management to be brain-dead? What if we don't get a high draft pick, even though we play Douby and Garcia and Williams and Garcia 30+ minutes a game? So what?
By doing so, we just gave them prime-time experience. If we get so unlucky, or heaven forbid, Douby scores 20 pts a game with a 50% average, and we win 5 in a row, what did we lose? We just gave the young guys invaluable prime-time experience that will assist them next year.

great post.

After the totally boring lin against the Clippers, we're in 10th place. We pulled half a game ahead of 11th/12th NY and Indiana, with Seattle and Minnesota tied for 8th/9th one half game ahead of us. From now on, every game counts.

If losing the next 10 games gives us a better shot at a better future I hope this organization realizes that and let the young kids play and develop.
There are two possibly three Franchise players in this draft, I want the Kings to win so much, but if they are going to win it has to be in the long run.

Following wosses by both NY and Indiana, and our own lin over the Lakers, we are back in 9th place, and only half a game from tying Seattle at 8th! :D

Philly (currently tied for 6th/7th) is in a precarious position, there are 3-4 games left on their schedule that they might well wose.

Seattle (8th) has games coming up against NO/OKC and Portland, but otherwise are likely to lin every remaining game.

Charlotte (5th) also has 3 possible wosses on their agenda.

The others we probably can't catch up with.

But if Philly woses at least 2, Seattle woses at least 1, Charlotte woses 3, and we don't wose any, we could wind up in 6th. That's pretty much a best-case scenario, but it's still within the realm of possibility. I'd even go so far as to say that 7th is probable for us if we can lin every remaining game.

NOT the dreaded 7th seed, that pick has haunted us for years, pre C-Webb.

the jwill draft turned out great; we basically traded up from 7th pick (jwill) to 2nd (bibby).

ps... im still not over that amazing woss to the suns. i had that lin in the bag!!!
