I hate this team

It's not an excuse. HE isn't hurt. He explained himself before the game. When he was hurt he told himself not to snap his follow through to hard, because it would hurt. Now he's messed up his stroke.

I explained the scenario with the time that I broke my toe. If you've never had anything like that happen you won't understand, or you just dont' want to hear it. Either way it's very real.
That would be an exuse, lol. And that should not take away from the fact that he is not doing anything to help the team but chunking.

Yikes! I am pretty shocked by some of the opinions expressed here. Hate is a pretty strong word. I am not delighted with their play but then I really didn't expect to be. This is a team that is in development/transition this year - new coach, etc and I think we need to give them time and respect enough to allow them to mature together as a team before we totally give up or start "hating" them. I think that's what Petrie is doing and I support it. Give them a chance to develop - give Petrie a chance to assess what he has - it's kind of like having a teenager - you grit your teeth through some of the hard stuff, pray to God you all get through it, and no matter what love them to the best of your ability :)

Btw, i doubt Ron Artest is gonna resign with us if things don't start to turn there is no way hes gonna want to be stuck with a team that is in disarray right now.

i dont hate the team...

but im extremely extremely extremely dissapointed with them...

it just hurts us fans bigtime when they suck, some times they dont even seem like theyre trying...

We've had a series of misfortunes; especially on a team that cannot afford them. Our 3 key veteran guys (Brad, Bibby & Artest) have been either injured or playing hurt. We got our hopes up during a soft part of a our schedule in Nov, where wins were easier to come by, esp against mediocre to poor teams (which I believe is a good sign). We've had arguably the toughest schedule in the league during the month of Dec (Mavs, Spurs, Magic, Suns, Heat, Jazz, Suns and Mavs). All this while trying to figure out rotations and integrate players into a new system and coach. I'm not trying to make excuses for them, i'm just stating some of the facts.

Did anyone honestly think we were going to somehow storm the league in the first 50 days of the season, especially now given our schedule and injuries? It surely doesn't help that our best offensive player (Bibby) and defensive player (Artest) have been hurt. We do have glaringly weaknesses that need to be addressed, but I think Petrie is a patient man who will try to ride out the storm before acting impulsively and blowing up the team. At least wait for the trade deadline, I say.

I don't hate this team. But I'm deeply disappointed to watch my Kings be mediocre at best. The Kings are my team, I'm stuck with them. *sigh*

I don't "hate" this team at all. I'm just completely frustrated with the whole thing from the Maloofs to the end of the bench.

The only bright spots are K-Mart and once in awhile some nice performances from K-9, Salmons, and Artest. Although the inconsistency among them also drives me batty.

What I do hate is this "Well, we have a tough schedule, golly gee. We're playing some really good teams!"

ARGH!! What kind of excuse is that?

It's like saying "We suck so badly that we can't even hope to compete with the good teams. Let's hope we can play teams that suck as bad as we do."

And I feel for Bibby, I really do. I know he's more frustrated at his performance than any fan could be. And he did try to do other things last night to compensate.

There was a point where I was with the group that said "bench him" until he recovers his shooting touch.

But at this point, what difference does it make? We're in the bottom (actually the mediocre middle with no chance at a lottery pick) anyway. It's better for Bibby to be on the court to work through this.

Interesting things voiced/expressed in this thread ....

King's are an OKAY/AVERAGE team .... stronger/better teams are revealing the King's weaknesses ... and there are a number of them.

I don't hate this team ...I'm not happy with the results, but I don't hate them.

Hang in there people .... this TOO, will pass

Not sure I can say enough here, NO team wins all the time, rebuilding - being stuck in an endless hole. In the end that is what being a fan is all about. The good and the bad. Watching a team you supported all your life all the sudden become a contender is about the best feeling a sports fan can have. Even better when they win it all...

If some of you cannot take the bad then stop watching. The bad is here, that doesnt' mean do not comment and display your "HATE" I think hate is a horrible word anyway...

True fans will be here during the tough times. Doesn't mean we enjoy it or have an opinion about it. This appears to be the start of some very rough times. Better have brought some water!

And lastly not knocking anyone in this thread, if you love your kings, you will be here during this stretch. If you don't... prolly won't see ya around next year.

First, I don't think anyone should hate this team for the way they're playing. The true fans are pretty disappointed, yes, but you can't turn your back on the team. We have time to pull it together, its not over. Although if we do resume this kind of play I guess this might be just a practice season for us. I'm not doubting anything though.

Part of being a fan of a sports team is living the emotional roller coaster ride. As a fan, when things are bad, we feel it. I don't see a problem expressing that frustration. It's the life of a fan. We tend to get too high for the highs and too low for the lows. It's what we do.

If we didn't have these emotions, then we'd probably be the kind of sports fan who jumps from team to team just looking for the winner. We'd have a Celtics jersey in our closet next to a Lakers jersey and a new Heat jersey.

But we're not bandwagon fans. We have nothing but Kings jerseys in our closet.

I like to look on the bright side, like at least the team still has a better attitude and chemistry than the fans.
Of course they do. At the end of the day, they go home to their mansions in their Mercedes, and get paid millions of dollars.

We're still sitting at work looking for just a little entertainment for a couple of hours on Comcast once in awhile.

Oh no -- that still being the problem. Not bad enough to be good in the end. Probably win 35-45, and get to draft after all the big stars are gone again.
Probably.

I'm hoping Petrie can maybe con Isiah Thomas out of a first rounder or something....

...Or did some other GM already do that?

I had to get to post #41 by BW to find someone who said how I feel. But that sums it up!

Its nice that the hate thread turned into a "stand by your team" thread!

Kings will be good again, and the rough times are going to make it all the sweeter when they are.

First of all HATE is a big word and probably most dont use it the way it really means. Probably you hate the state of the team now and you probably hate things that you cannot control that have lead to this state. If you hate the team then you wouldnt be posting here about hate :)

Also I think most knowledgeable fans knew what was coming and they were not trying to keep Petrie in a pedestal before the season began and they did not try to think that Potapenko and Salmons were Shaq and Wade, it is the same fans that are hating the team now that did that then. Many of us knew that the team was not built in the right way and Petrie has made many mistakes in the past few seasons leading to this. Now we are stuck with a team that has got many players other teams wouldnt want to take cos of many reasons, that is a classic two year rebuild phase if the GM doesnt screw up (see Isiah)

Bibby - Overpaid after that great playoffs vs the lakers, instead of looking at that season Petrie should have looked at what he can really offer. Great shooter then, but no defense and was not a pass first PG, imo he didnt deserve that kind of a contract.

Webber - Deserved the contract in a way, but got unlucky with the injury and very bad trade for webber to satisfy peja or bibby

Peja - if webber was traded because of Peja then trading peja was a bad move, getting Artest was a roll of the dice and so far it is going fine, but many fans understand that it is a ticking bomb and be happy with what you have so far

Miller - Very one dimensional player who can excel only in an offense which uses his skills, bad defender and cant jump. Bad deal for a center, unless you are vlade and you are very savvy to utilize the minimal vertical to grab rebounds and just keep the other center away from the basket.

That leaves you with a core that with a new coach hasnt found an identity, this team is not supposed to be this bad with all the talent, but when you put in a new coach it will take some time. This team has the potential to get more wins in the second half and do much better next year when they would have played in the system for quite some time.

However I dont think they are a contender or anywhere close to a contender next year either, thats the way the team is built. Fans who have had that expectation, who thought that the new additions were all going to be Kobe and Lebron are the ones that are disappointed, the ones that thought the kings would be tearing the league now are the ones that are disappointed.
The ones that thought that just because bibby said that he wanted to play defense that he is going to become Artest or bowen are the ones that are disappointed. Fans who knew what limitations the players had knew this was coming, however not to the great extent, but knew this was around.

During the offseason, many of the fans that thought nellie couldnt do anything with the warriors and that the warriors would still suck might have ignored brick's post, warriors are fighting for a spot with the kings and they are kinda equal, maybe nellie ball wont win in the playoffs, but he sure can win a few in the regular season. the team hating fans then looked at the kings record vs the nellie mavs, which were totally different teams and said that they would easily beat the warriors. The ones who knew what to expect didnt have disappointment, the ones that built their expectations are the ones that are hating the team now.

This state is cos of Petrie's fault and some bad luck, however risk management is all about understanding or atleast predicting the risks that might arise and prepare for it. This team doesnt seem to have to done that and it is Petries fault, he has done the same with other teams in the past, his love for scorers and 6-7 6-8 guys has brought this team down, he can right this if he only understands that he has made a mistake. Maybe he thinks he can still make it work by signing two more 6-7 swingmen, but then we just need to think about mad tv - "lowered expectations"

I dont think any kings fan would hate the team

Believe it or not, even though I can't stand him most of the time, I thought Kenny played better than anybody last night. Bibby has to me gone from a number one option to a number 3 option because his shooting is horrible. But to be honest, I also don't think this team is very good. All you have to do is compare our roster with the rest of the teams position by position, and I would say we maybe have the 12th best roster in the West. We continue to play one on one style when the only guy I believe can do this on our team is Martin. I hate to say it, but I'm getting close to believing it will be better to shelve the rest of our games and try to get Oden. That kid is a stud.

I still LOVE THIS TEAM! Am I happy with their current standing? No. Do I wish with every fiber of my being that they'd find a way to eke out wins against some of these powerhouse teams? Well, duh.

Remember when I posted the Clan of the Lower Expectations thread? Some of you thought it meant I was jumping off the bandwagon. It didn't...and it doesn't. What it meant was lowered expectations would mean less frustration when the team wasn't able to beat teams like the Mavericks, the Suns, the Heat, etc.

This current collection of players just isn't very good together. People need to accept that and then decide if they still want to watch. If you don't, that's perfectly understandable. But if you do watch, you can't realistically be surprised when they can't pull the rabbit out of the hat the way they used to.

You can dislike the performance without hating the performer.

GO KINGS!!!!!

some of you people just don't get it. i know you're mostly responding to the first post about "hating" the kings (and for the record i don't "hate" them), it's just that with all your excuses about how they should be playing better is still ignoring the fact that THIS team has no future as a championship contender. Artest is not a cornerstone. bibby isn't getting any better and his D sucks. miller isn't getting any better and his D sucks. we have no franchise player to go to, we just have a few of "ok" to "good" veterans.

i'm a big believer in you either try for a championship or you don't try at all, this roster has NO championship potential, not now not ever. what's the point in wasting time trying to squeek into the 8th seed just so we won't be a "horrible" team for a couple of years? at least horrible teams get shots at future all-stars in the draft. we have no cap space or a free agent market to get an elite player and we don't have the trading pieces to get one either. the only option for us to get back to a championship caliber team is by REBUILDING, i know most people hate the word but if it's done right it's our BEST shot at getting back to the top and that's the only place worth being. this whole being ok with the middle crap is unacceptable imo and the only way we can make it change is by saying that.

this team right now is just a bunch of ok vets slopped together with no plan behind it, but they'll just keep patching it up with the MLE and minor little trades here and there and eventually we'll still be in the same position.

me personally i'd rather watch a bottom of the barrel rebuilding team instead of a team like the GSW who are consitently mediocre and never get anywhere. at least with the rebuilding team you know there is a lot of potential at the end of the tunnel and every game you watch they're one step closer. consistent mediocrity is nothing to root for or be proud of.

petrie and the maloofs need to get together and open their eyes. the right decision is to rebuild this team from scratch and decide on what kind of team they want. trade bibby, miller, and artest and start rebuilding through the draft. we have to get a headstart on this thing before we realize three years from now we just wasted three years and some great draft talent.

if anyone bothered reading my rant, thank you :)

very well said! if this team rebuilds and even though the record may say they're worse doesn't mean they're any more frustrating to watch. with young players even though they struggle there is still that excitement when they show flashes and that is an upside even when you lose the game. that makes you feel a lot better about it then "well they're hurt right now and they could be better and possibly squeek into the 8th seed". a championship is a much brighter goal to look forward to even if it's a year or two down the line.

frustration = expectations
reality

No. Frustration = expectations of a contending team are not met.

I'm a 49er fan. I was taught through the 80's and 90's that a Super Bowl was the expectation or bust. Through this decade, it's been a bust. That doesn't mean I hate my team or I jump off some bandwagon. It just means I have HIGH EXPECTATIONS and DEMAND that ownership and management do what it takes to put a quality product on the field. If they don't, then I'm ticked off.

It's the same here. I DEMAND quality. I DEMAND a contending team from owners who've promised as much. I EXPECT a contending team.

If I don't get it, I'm frustrated. That's the reality.

You can list all the wonderful "reasons" why we suck, but that's not the point. I EXPECT this ownership and GM to do whatever is necessary and not settle.

And if they appear to be settling, I'm FRUSTRATED.
