Long term I really believe he is being set up to take a big L on this whole deal. Indy felt like a team that was setting themselves up for 2023-2024 but their play is almost certainly going to force them into making some bad decisions. It might be like a 7-9 seed treadmill they find themselves on rather than 7-9 in the lotto, but if they lock into Turner and give Haliburton the extension this offseason all they have is draft capital and Boston's pick is probably going to be 28th or lower.

We can identify the players spearheading this movement with our points created metric, which combines points scored, points created via assist, and points created via screen assist into one umbrella metric, scaled per 36 minutes. This isn’t just an arbitrary, meaningless stat; in five of the last six seasons, the points created leader also won MVP. (The one exception was 2018-19, when Giannis Antetokounmpo won while ranking second.)
So who tops the points created leaderboard halfway through the 2022-23 season? If that MVP trend continues, we’re poised for a Nikola Jokic threepeat:

Sabonis is actually a perfect combination of the 2 best Kings front court players of all time, 2 Hall of Famers.
He is really a perfect mixture of Chris Webber and Vlade Divac rolled into one player. He has Webber's scoring and rebounding and Vlade's passing and locker room leadership/god father role. It's really incredible to watch how the Kings have come together around him and Fox.
