Dont act like your going out on a limb sir, we aint made the playoffs since Moses freed the Israelites. But yes i'll accept that donation. Should be a 19 to 1 odds tho don't ya think? let be fair now
There are other teams looking for coaches. And about one and a half month till draft day. The new coach needs to settle down, assemble the crew and discuss about next season's squad. In fact there is not so much time.
Draft lottery not draft day. A top 3 pick might entice a coach and he will have input before draft day. There are currently 2 other teams looking. The hornets and lakers and haven’t heard anything about them rushing to hire and mostly interviewing candidates we already denied and candidates that probably denied us. But I guess it’s all opinion when thinking if we’re rushing or need to hire soon.
If I was either candidate I would want to know that there is a commitment from ownership to the GM. Why would I want to take the job without stability at the top? I hope the press asks about Monte’s contract status at the announcement of the new coach.

To be fair, the Hornets fired their coach several weeks after we did and the Lakers are currently embroiled in their own weird power struggle (Klutch vs Pelinka vs the Busses, the Rambis family, and Phil Jackson apparently).

A bit off topic, but how is Kurt Rambis still relevant? He wasn’t that good as a player, coach or advisor. It amazes me that Lakers still go to him for anything
I don't feel all that comfortable about any of the remaining candidates. Jackson seems to have the "charisma" factor that could give him a high ceiling, but has has been away from coaching for years; the assistants he would get would be key to his success or lack therof. And after taking it easy now for years in what I regard more as semi-retirement, can he now shift gears and work the long hours necessary for success? Brown is the diligent worker bee, but can he inspire and motivate? Can he devise an offensive system for Kings personnel? Clifford knows his defense, but can he do anything imaginative on the offensive end, and can he inspire this team to win?

What exactly did Mike Brown do with the Nigerian team? They have 8 guys who are on an NBA roster (were at the time), 1 more who was (Udoh) an NBA vet and the rest of the team plays at a very high level in Europe and they finished 10th at the Olympics.
They lost every single game in the first round (0-3 none were that close), I know finishing 10th might sound good to Kings fans but its out of 12 teams......
They beat team USA the week before it started and were generally impressive in all the tune up games. Also he made a guy on our roster look like a star.
He's definitely not my first or second or third choice even of the initial ~7 names we were given but between him and Jackson this is an easy pick to me.

I'm pretty sure IIRC that the Nigerian team was by far the most impressive story of basketball Olympics and how they played. Obviously, they have none chance to compete with the US or the other powerhouse countries, but this was their "eye-opener" where that program could maybe develop. Brown was a huge part of that.
The leaks directly by Browns agent have me worried this is another, well, we tried to help the Kings by making the easy decision for them, but they just can't seem to not Kangz, lol.

How can you overplay your hand before you even had your formal interview though? The tone was he wanted this gig even prior to Thursday. Now he's just flat out coming out and saying it.

There were rumors that Brown wanted $, $$, and $$$. Now the news is, he would accept an offer. Why is that even news unless their position before was he would accept an offer only if he got $, $$, and $$$. Dumb. Pick Mark Jackson, Vivek. Brown and his agent are playing games.

I mean, sure, he should put himself in the best situation. If he truly believes that, stick to it. Now you're openly campaigning for the job? Lolzz. Comical.

The guy he is competing against has a major media presence along with one of the top two NBA social media guys tilting the scale in his favor despite the fans largely disapproving I don't really see this as cynically as you do, which is pretty bizarre considering how cynical I am about life in general.
He didn't go public that was "rumored"/leaked by someone with who knows what intentions. Note that happened around the time Dumars left and Dumars was supposedly in the other camp.
