No, we don't. We need a coach to put players in a position to succeed. We need the players to believe in the coach's ability to gameplan. Rah rah bullcrap doesn't work with a young, disjointed team, especially one that hasn't received proper coaching since Joerger.

Getting them to know their role and shut their mouth is more important here.
Ok apparently you have a magical coach in mind that does this. explain how in any way shape or form brown fits this description over Jackson, then explain how this Rah rah strategy is Jacksons mantra......dont worry i'll wait

His login was Rob-The-Great. He died on a hill that Jackson was the guy for Sacramento.
I said he was the guy of the two. And i said of the two, hes more of what we need right now, and if given 3 years we will make playoffs one of those years. MARK...it... down....baby.....(Austin Powers Voice)

this is what agents are forced to do when they don’t have a national writer under their umbrella like Klutch does with Shams or CAA does with Woj.
just found it funny that he basically emailed a reporter a cover letter of reasons he wants to coach the kings. Which is sort of endearing, and also preferable to the small ripple of gossip columns that accompanied Jackson’s visit

if Jackson is picked I’ll gladly put down a $100 charity bet if Jackson as HC getting to the playoffs within 3 seasons. Winning the play-in tournament and getting in is acceptable for me. Interested?

Lol the receipts are here now!

twitter couch GMs are awful and would never honor the bet
It's a little weird because I think my concerns with Brown vs. a young hungry unknown are that he had LeBron and Kobe but didn't win, so I view him as a low ceiling guy (although in retrospect that isn't fair, and I should be looking more at him getting 32 wins out of the rotted husk of post LeBron Cavs and what he has done with Nigeria - including our own Metu).

I'm not sure what Jackson's ceiling is but I'm sure his floor is at least a dozen stories below where we already are.

It's amazing to me that after almost 20 years of historical ineptitude the King's STILL haven't learned s**t. Jackson would be a nightmare, not sure I have the stomach to listen to him preaching for 3 years before he's inevitably canned.

I'd take Brown over him every time, although the list is uninspiring to say the least.

Can we do that while the Warriors are still active?
I think NBA etiquette is to wait until they are in between series to officially make a public acknowledgment. I remember when the Lakers hired Luke Walton mid-playoffs, the news leaked when the Warriors were in between playoff series.

Edit: The news may break sooner, but the Kings might not make a formal announcement until the coaches current team is in between series.

What exactly did Mike Brown do with the Nigerian team? They have 8 guys who are on an NBA roster (were at the time), 1 more who was (Udoh) an NBA vet and the rest of the team plays at a very high level in Europe and they finished 10th at the Olympics.

They lost every single game in the first round (0-3 none were that close), I know finishing 10th might sound good to Kings fans but its out of 12 teams......

When has he ever been called a incompetent coach? lets be real here the man can coach. He brings some bagage but coaching is not one of them. be careful, dont get your hopes to high, he has a 50% chance right now of being the next head coach of your favorite team lol. Worst things have happened in Sac
Didn't call him an incompetent coach. Said we don’t need a sideshow or a "name." "All we need ..." just excludes a couple of the attributes Jackson brings. Baggage and a name. George Karl was a competent coach also along with said same baggage. Don’t need a sequel on that.

The organization is making baby steps towards becoming competent. Don’t undo that by reinforcing the notion that it is a cluster dump at the highest level.

Your right lol i went to far there, but my point is the same
That was kind of your main point though. People who knew Walton was a bad choice are the same people saying Jackson is a bad choice.

The game has evolved beyond Jackson - he might have been a good fit with Haliburton, as they share similar athletic abilities, but that's about it.
Brown is unequivocally the better fit.
  • He's still a coach in the NBA.
  • He has a pedigree of working with top tier programs.
  • He has successfully worked with talented rosters.
  • He is invested in his job.
  • No baggage.
All of these things are what Jackson isn't. And for the record, I would have preferred a young up-and-comer, but I also understand the need to win now. Brown does that without alienating a not-so-minor portion of the fan base.

Today is the day in all likelihood. The decision has already been made I’m sure just a matter of when they announce. Shams or Woj?
I get that feeling too or at least by the end of the weekend. What I don’t understand is what the rush is. Why not wait til after the post season. Or after the draft lottery. Will better coaches give us a chance if we win the lottery? Will good coaches unexpectedly be let go after the postseason? What’s the rush?

I suppose you run the risk of losing the guy you want to another opportunity. Boregos might have been worth an interview but maybe they didn’t identify him as a target. The situation in Utah is worth watching too but it seems most likely he returns or takes time off

Dont act like your going out on a limb sir, we aint made the playoffs since Moses freed the Israelites. But yes i'll accept that donation. Should be a 19 to 1 odds tho don't ya think? let be fair now

There are other teams looking for coaches. And about one and a half month till draft day. The new coach needs to settle down, assemble the crew and discuss about next season's squad. In fact there is not so much time.
