Free Agency Thread - 2018

I feel like every year I come to this board to advocate Tyreke.

A healthy Tyreke off the bench could play 1-3 and give us a solid defender and run the offense. Plus his 3pt shot has gotten better to go along with his elite ability to get to the basket. Didn't he just average 16-5-5 last year?

Coming off the bench would keep him healthy and effective. You could run a variety of options with him either as the pg or sf depending on matchups, and his pnr ability with our bigs could be pretty fun to watch again as like I said before his elite ability to get inside.

A reasonable 2-3yr deal would be team friendly because I dont see him getting a ludicrous contract from anyone.

Another of my favs for this team.
Lance did have good success in Memphis with Dave and if we are prepared to let him basically be the PG in the 2nd unit it would be interesting since he could create for Buddy, personally I would like it cause of sheer entertainment value since atm unless we make a couple big moves we are looking at a 30 win season. Also Grant Napear would probably lose his mind since Lance with some of his antics would remind him of someone recently here.

Lets say for a minute also that we could sign Avery Bradley for like 3 years 40-50 million would we be willing to trade WCS+Bogie or Hield + Z-Bo or KK at that point for a Porter/Gortat or some other starting quality SF/C (not sure how much $$ we could afford but we would probably have to move Shumpert as well to make it work)

PG:Fox
SG: Bradley
SF: Porter
PF: BodyBags
C: Gortat or Vucuvic

Among the various options DeAndre Jordan has been weighing, according to league sources, is opting into the final season of his current contract (at $24.1 million) before Friday's midnight deadline to facilitate a trade -- with Dallas, sources say, among the teams interested

Just thought (it) was interesting

Capela—S&T for Willie. Capela is everything Willie was supposed to be. Sets the frontcourt rotation of Capela-Bagley-Giles, with Giles off the bench. Koufos gets spot time. Next summer, use the max for a SF, or if a superstar becomes available via trade.

I’d rather have Capela as a defensive anchor and platoon minutes at three with Bogi/Shump than try to sign a half-measure SF like Hezonja and pray he works out.

Hood > Anderson imo
I think Rodney Hood could be a free agent target.

With 2 bigs in Bagley and Giles that could be monster rebounders, Hood can slip into the small forward spot and concentrate on shooting and defense.

Cleveland is likely not to match any significant offers for Hood.

Hood or Mario would be good targets to start at small forward for us. Also, I don't see the Spurs letting Anderson walk since Kawaii will likely be traded.

I pose a question. With the plethora of bigs we have, some pretty athletic, would another guard be an option in fa? Especially with the lack of talent at sf in FA

I think we should negotiate with Raptors to take Norman Powells contract. Fred Vanvleet is rfa and if they need to match an offer they will have to create some space if they dont want to pay a lot of luxury tax.

Starting next year Powell will make 4/40mil. If we could get a future protected 1st or couple of seconds then great. He could start for us at sf, a little undersized at 6'4 but has 6'11 wingspan, 215lbs and a lot better defender than any of our wings except maybe Temple. Powell could regain some value as a starter for us and then become a tradeable asset.

Not sure if Raptors would be interested but these are the type of scenarios where Vlade needs to be active and constantly on the phone.

yeah it's gotta be a backup PG, and he can't be really short or else if Fox gets injured it'll be that dude and Mason, and they'll get eaten up by elite PG's.

This to me is why Dante Exum is intriguing, he could potentially hold down the backup PG spot and help at SG/SF, the Kings, or anyone could possibly be getting him at a major discount because of his unfortunate injury history. He's an intelligent kid with a GREAT attitude, and there were a handful of kids just drafted born in 1995 like him. crap, George King the 59th pick is more than a year and half older than Exum.
Dante's fully recovered and has great burst/first step. he's also got like a 6'11" wingspan and he's very good laterally and defensively, good passer too, throws excellent lobs, he's got legit pg instincts, shot needs work but has plenty room for improvement.

We do need a back up PG to me Mason is not a back up at best he's a third guard and Exum at times looks like the best defensive PG in the NBA I would give him a shot. Utah did pick up Grayson Allen who plays a similar role to Exum so it could be good news for the Kings unless Philly snags him to play with his former coach of Australia Brett Brown.

Kingster

Hall of Famer

I think the Kings could pair up Exum up with Bogs, Hield, and Mason because they all are good outside shooters. Fox, not so much, because he's not there yet in his outside shot. It makes some sense. I wonder how much $ he would command?

Am I the only Laker Hater that would not mind seeing LeBron, George and Kawhi in LA? If these guys return to their respective teams it will be a let down. I want mobility, shakeup and shift in the balance of power. I want action. :p From Kings perspective having this new "super team" is more motivation to raise your game to compete against the best. The Lakers will probably have to gut their roster to get Kawhi. The Spurs better not "pull a Vlade" and settle for less than fair market value. In fact they should demand more! It is important to realize that the Spurs actually have leverage because if the Lakers add Kawhi before free agency then these free agents are going to be more likely to commit to follow him there. Combine this with the Spurs animosity to LA in general and they should definitely extract a ransom for Kawhi or NO deal.

Why Parker?

Expensive, injury risk, more pf in which we have way too much depth than sf.

Dangerous. Calling albatross soon, Kenny Thomas and the dirty Carl Landry on steroids contracts.

Don't do it Vlade.
Swingin for the fences... He'd slide right in as a top scoring option..

And i mean if you havent noticed it seems Vlade's hellbent on filling out an entire roster with just Duke and UK players LOL

Max at capela that’s a no if you’re getting the max atleast create a shot for yourself
So getting your own shot trumps one of the best defensive bigs in the league who is 24 and gives you 14/10 and a hair under 2 bpg? Not to mention, it’s what the market dictates and I can promise you he will be getting close to max offers...and if you are the Kings and want him, you are going to need overspend. So who out there are you wanting to spend on?
