Agreed. things are looking on the up. Long may this positivism last.
i think it is worth noting though that he hasn't had the suppport from a squad to bring us near a winning season till this season and with him this season we are above .500 with our only bad losses coming to boston in mexico and charlotte. Hell he didnt have a running mate till Rudy came by.
Demarcus is more than just a significant contributor on a winning team. He is it. The piece that a winning team and season is built around. The golden goose. Hence why i dont understand any notion of trading him as any team that gets gifted Demarcus will simply build a system around him, add a strong defensive oriented coach, steady squad and compete for a championship. You know what we kinda should be doing here but hey wining is wining and ill take it.
Because some of us, and I'm not necessarily talking about myself, tend to look a little farther into the future, it doesn't mean that it's a future we want. For instance, your on the Titanic, your able to see a future disaster, and you see the iceberg coming. It's unavoidable! While it's not something you want to happen, maybe it's something you should prepare for. Maybe have a plan! Now I can't speak for everyone, but that's how I look at it. From time to time, you have to swallow the poison pill, and if so, you might want to have an antidote lying around. We start winning on a regular basis, and it's all a moot point.
Now, having said that, I think too much of our winning or losing is laid at Cousins feet. No doubt he's a huge part of what we do, but for the team to become a consistent winner, we need others to be a part of the conversation. There are nights when the blame can be laid at the feet of any number of players, but there's a tendency to always make Cuz the focal point of every win or loss. Last night, I thought Cuz played a very good game despite being below his league average in point and rebounds. He played good defense with 4 blocks and 2 steals. He had 4 or 5 assists and only 2 turnovers. It wasn't perfect, but he seemed realize that it wasn't going to be his night in the post, so he adjusted and started passing the ball out of the post. His outside shot wasn't dropping, so he stopped taking it. he only took 13 shots in the game, but ended up being more effective by giving those shots to someone else. I call that growth. I thought he had a Tim Duncan type of game. No one looks at Duncan's stats anymore, they only look to see if the Spurs won or not.
I want to add, that I thought that Ben Mclemore had a very nice game. His defense was very very good, and when on DeRozan, DeRozan struggled. Most of DeRozan's points came off of switches, or when Ben wasn't in the game. Personally I would have gone to man to man with Ben on DeRozan, but I'm not the coach. (I'm not a big fan of the Rondo/Collison backcourt) I bring this up because Ben seems to come up on the forum only when he plays badly. Of late, and I've been a big critic of his, he's been playing like an NBA SG. So lets give credit when it's due.
