Mbah A Moute finished 18th of 81 in qualified PF's for DefRTG (shout to Bobby Gerould for the stat). That's a good vet signing. Of course, he's very injury prone, but he'll be just 29 when camp opens. He's still theoretically in his prime, if he can stay reasonably healthy. If's If's If's.

A no brainer at the veterans minimum, honestly. I'd wouldn't expect him to be part of the rotation when camp opens, but he'd be the 'next guy up', and due to his versatility, could fill multiple roles depending on goes down.

PG - Rondo, Collison, Stockton
SG - McLemore, Belinelli, Anderson
SF - Gay, Casspi, Butler
PF - Cousins, Mbah A Moute, Moreland
C - Koufos, Cauley-Stein

That's how I see this thing shaking out right now. A lot of versatility, so the depth chart will never perfectly indicate minutes played. I think Koufos, WCS, Cousins, Gay, Casspi, McLemore, Belinelli, Rondo, and Collison will make up the top-9, and be regular rotation players. If the Kings play 10 guys, Butler and LRMAM will probably swap that role throughout the season. We'll see if Moreland and / or Stockton stick.
For what its worth(next to nothing lol) ive been toying with the team on NBA 2k15 and that 9 man rotation works best and is most natural. One of Cuz or Gay always on the floor. Cuz and Stein together is crazy btw, I feel like theres always someone there to contest shots at the rim and I have absolutely had some highlight near double blocks with those 2.

If you are on PS4 download a roster set by "EmbracethePace", has all rookies with realistic ratings and maintains all free agent moves daily.

Perfect.

Vlade continues to hit a major HR this offseason. Getting Koufos, Rondo, Beli and Casspi all back is fantastic in itself, but adding guys like Butler and LRMAM to round out the bench are what winning organizations do year in and year out. Having veteran pros with a niche (LRMAM defense, Butler shooting), and bringing their expertise is crucial to bringing a winning team together, especially when leadership hasn't really been established yet.

Ham's comments on LRMAM is a complete hack-job too.

LRMAM has been known as a consummate professional and a true student of the game on the defensive end. Bogut, one of the best defensive players in the NBA credits Mbah for teaching him how to play defense.

I don't think he's a starter, but he's absolutely a rotational guy in this league and will help our team. Can't ask for much more for a vet min.

Was there a "Thank you, Luc" thread after he was traded to the Wolves? I'm curious to read the last impressions and thoughts from back then, but can't find such a thread.

Everyone liked him, his defense was very good especially given Malones coaching style. The consensus after the trade was that that it was bitter to lose him but it was a no brainer to take a chance on D Will. Not a key guy but a good guy to have on your bench.

Not a key guy but much more valuable for us as the 12th most talented guy on the roster opposed to when he was the 7th or 8th most talented a couple years back.

To put things into perspective our starting lineup when he was here was

Vasquez
Thornton
Luc
Patterson
Cousins

and don't forget John Salmons was our backup SF.

Now Luc is back as a 10-12 guy, which is pretty great, he would be a 8-9th guy on a lot of teams.

Yep always helps to update your talent near the top of the roster, rather than swapping your 8-12th guys year after year.

Having Patterson off the bench as a stretch 4 would be pretty nice right about now though.

Hall of Famer
Looking back at the old thread. Apparently I wasn't happy with his last stint with kings. Of course he was our starting SF then. Now he is 4th SF maybe 4th PF so I'm good with it. Not necessarily a game changer either way

he sure does. cant wait to just bludgeon them inside with the unstopable force of Boogie.

Cant wait to see us school them. Its about making them match up to us and not the other way around. We go big and we play hard D

Could maybe start Cuz at the 4 against them and force a matchup against Green

Can't really force people to guard you with somebody. Why they often say what position you play depends on what you defend. because on offense they could guard Cuz with Bogut, or Green, or Curry for that matter.

Now if we twin tower Koufos/Boogie then its cute, but the matchup will end up being Bogut on Boogie and then Koufos on Green, and we'd have to get more from Koufos against the little guy than they got from Green against the lumbering guy.

Why the two true Twin Tower teams got the name because they had 2 HOFers, two great offensive weapons. Then you have the true torture box. A 20pt scorer jsut got matched up against your weaker frontcourt defender. Have fun.

Did PDA really trot that starting squad out there? Sheesh. I really feel Cousin's pain.

But it's a new day...

True. I like how we have built our depth. We have a good solid roster to mix it with warriors. Bring on the season!

If Luc is 100% healthy and can hit a decent clip of 3's I think he's more a 6-8th man in particular since he's by far got the best defensive resume and is the most versatile defender on the team (WCS still un-proven). I think if Luc is healthy we could literally have the best defensive 2nd unit maybe the Kings have ever had your talking Koufos/WCS/LRMAM/DC (if Casspi starts @ SF) and the only weak link being Belly although he could take Ben's starting spot.

Actually Salmons was the starter at the 3. Luc was hurt and didn't play in the first several games. When he was healthy again, he came off the bench. So our starting 'back court' was Vasquez, Thornton, Salmons. Yikes

Our 1-10/12 players are more talented than 4 of the starters (Vasquez, Thornton, Patterson, Salmons) on that team. Think about that.

I have thought about it. It makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. It is amazing to me the amount of talent and character Vlade has been able to bring in in such a short amount of time
