Make our acquisitions this summer Joseph, A Miller, Belinelli, J Anderson, Casspi, Cauley-Stein, O'Quinn, Gooden, & Aldrich (waive Stockton) and I'm a very happy camper.

Collison/McLemore/Gay/Cauley-Stein/Cousins should still be a very strong starting lineup just like last year (minus Thompson). Then your bench is much improved with Joseph/Belinelli/Casspi/O'Quinn/Aldrich. Not to mention you still have guys like Miller/Anderson/Gooden who aren't completely worthless if we get hit with injuries.

PG - Collison/Joseph/Miller/McCallum
SG - McLemore/Belinelli/Anderson
SF - Gay/Casspi
PF - Cauley-Stein/O'Quinn/Gooden/Moreland
C - Cousins/Aldrich
I have no interest in Drew Gooden suiting up for the Kings ever again but otherwise those are all the signings I'd hope we'd make.

Unless (Until?) the Kings develop a history of being a winning organization their stars will have to come primarily through the draft and occasionally trades, likely ones that carry some significant risk. And free agency will always have to be how they acquire role playing starters and their bench.

Bellinelli is overpaid like every FA so far but a pretty good get. Joseph (or Beverly) would be a nice signing. Casspi back is a no brainer if the price is right. O'Quinn would be tough because he's restricted but I like the idea. Aldrich was actually a guy I'd already tagged as a deep bench big - basically taking the Hollins role. Dorell Wright is another guy I'd like to see the Kings make a run at.

Basically add playmaking and shooting to the backcourt, a 2nd PG that can play with DC at times, another shooter on the wings, a backup C and hopefully a veteran PF. That would be a really successful offseason to me. Much more so than signing Rondo and Josh Smith.

Ill give Vlade this, before the draft he said we needed rim protection, shooting, playmaking, high Iq players, wing defender.

Shotblocking: WCS
Shooting: Bellineli, Anderson(capable shooter)
Playmaking: Rondo?
Wing defense: ?, Anderson

And that Nene thing makes a lot of sense on a number of fronts, unfortunately we still need a PG out of this too and don't have any more small pieces to swap back to take the edge of that contract,

After signing Belinelli, who is a clear-cut SG, Kings still need another starting forward, playmaking PG (Beverley and Joseph no longer seem like good options) and decent big.

Nene is at 13m for next year. We just spent 6 so that would leave us with roughly 7m for the rest of our roster. Definitely not enough for Rondo, probably not enough for Beverley. Potentially enough for Lin and then bring back Omri. It's definitely an option worth considering. I think PG depth is a big deal for the offseason when you consider how bad we were once Collison went down last year. (course we were bad when any of the big 3 were hurt)

Am I crazy to prefer Collison over Rondo? I feel like DC is the better shooter and defender and was a good distributor for us last year as well? I think a backup like Stuckey or Beverly are better options then Rondo.
No you aren't. Rondo sucks and there are probably a dozen other options I'd rather spend money on than him, including not spending money at all.
