Alot more options at point then SG so load it at that position then make your offers for either starting pgs like rondo,Beverly or backups Lin, Williams

Wes Matthews Update: Sacramento offer to free-agent swingman is actually four-year deal at $16 million annually for total of $64 million
GOOD.

I think there are two keys here for us: 1) We have to hope the Deandre Jordan comes to his senses and stick with the Clips. and 2) That Rondo is on the back end of our Matthews negotiations already with a verbal deal in place, telling Matthews he should sign here and let's make a run at a ring. We should be leveraging Rondo if he is at all leaning here.

Again, do it.

Whats 1mil more/year in the grand scheme of things? The extra year makes me a little "eh" but we're at the point where Matthews is the guy that puts us in the conversation. Gets this franchise out of the gutter. You can work with DC-Matthews-Gay-Cousins as your core veterans. That's as strong as anyone in the league.

Praying to lord jesus that this takes us out of Rondo. Please Vlade, leave him alone! Matthews+literally anything other than Rondo and we're at a great off-season.

Not sure any team with a cousins/wcs/Moreland front court is a guaranteed playoff team let alone contender

We still need money for 2 SFs
Omri wants to be here and following his 800k contract last year he would go lower mid level or equivalent. And Rudy is a SF btw. We would need to pick up a big though. Probably not an expensive one but a just in case WCS needs time

Keep in mind, this contract is going to look cheap next year when the cap goes up to 90 MILLION, and then the next year when it goes up to ninety freeking five.
And then $110 the next season. I was talking to a friend today about how salary perceptions will change because the cap is going from 65m to 110m. For instance, if I told you that you had $110m and could perfectly allocate salaries, you would probably come up with something like the following:

Superstar- Cousins- $25m
2nd star- Rudy- $20m
Third option - Matthews- $15m
Players 4-6 (elite role players, starters, sixth man)- Collison, Rondo, WCS - $10m each
Others in your daily 8 deep rotation- Ben and new 8th man- $5m each
And then $10m to fill spots 9-13 with deep benchers, rookies, projects, practice guys, veterans, league minimums, etc…

At least that is how I would allocate my cap. And it explains why pretty good third options like Middleton, Carroll, etc… are getting near $15m per year. It explains why elite role players like Green and (I guess) Shumpert and Amir are getting around $10m per year.

When you extrapolate the salaries out to the new cap in 2017, the $16m to Matthews looks a lot better if he is your third option (and if he is healthy).

Rudy is going to play at the four according to vlade.

I wasn't aware that the best big man of his generation, coupled with an elite defensive mate, with a defensive/rebounding project automatically eliminated you from playoff contention, regardless of if you have a top 5 sf, defensive stud/3 pt specialist SG, and former 4x all defensive team point guard and excellent assist man.

Well, now I know.

I am really trying not to be negative, but- a rookie and an elite D-league guy... reality check my man...

I just don't get it.. If we're moving Rudy to 4, why in hell did we pass on Winslow and Johnson?
That's where I'm confused. I thought it was going to be Collison, Bmac, Rudy, Dmc, wcs. But if Dmc is going to stay at C then Winslow was the easy choice.

I'm digesting the Matthews deal and it's growing on me a bit. I still hate it. Just not as much.
