We have a lot of holes to fill. Starting sf since Gay is going to play the 4, upgrade at point, fourth big, backup sf and veteran leadership.
Is a starting 5 of rondo, bmac, Casspi, gay and cuz playoff material? If it is, how far can that team realistically take us? A rondo, Mathews, Casspi, gay and cuz starting 5 feels so much stronger.
If Matthews not singing means more minutes for BMac that means complete catastrophe for the franchise. The ENTIRE plan is to bring in major NBA players dropping Ben back to more appropriate place off the bench. If Ben is getting more minutes when this is all said and done, it means a complete collapse of the plan, and likely a sayonara Cousins.
You really think Matthews is going to be that much better than B Mac? I don't. Matthews is a good player, not a great player, who is on the decline; B Mac is a good player (Slightly less good than Matthews right now, though) who is on the ascent.

ESPN sources say David West is most likely to wind up with one of two teams after leaving Indiana: San Antonio or Washington

To be fair calling Matthews "in decline" is not exactly true, he was great this year (one of the best role-players in the league) until he got hurt- if he comes back at 80% he is much better than Ben, but that's a big if...
That hardly matters. Lawson is a bad fit and Denver is not going to just dump him outright. The Kings are now stuck with a ton of cap space and very little to offer by way of trade. Time to start ringing teams looking for space.

Wes Matthews Update: Sacramento offer to free-agent swingman is actually four-year deal at $16 million annually for total of $64 million
The longer we get someone to sign, the more I think Karl's voice would get heard inside the FO.
If this continues, I think we'll end up receiving salary dumps from Denver (i.e. Ty Lawson(Karl's PG) + Gallinari (Shooter)) in the end.
