[Game] Kings-Spurs Vegas Summer League - 7/11/14

I like Staukas game, especially the fact that he can take his man off the dribble. His defense clearly needs work because he looks like a jv player on that end. I hope he gets more aggressive next game and starts demanding the ball because everyone else with the exception of Acy made me want to throw up today, especially Ben mclemiss.

He did get 2 steals and 2 blocks!

I don't know if it's because of Nik getting drafted, but I haven't been this excited about the NBA in years. Last year, I wanted us to go with Trey Burke...soooooo badly. Would have loved to see him in purple alongside Nik this year. That's probably my Michigan bias coming out though.

Yeah, this was my first opportunity to see a Kings game in quite some time. Simply put I think the rotation players should be a lot better by now. I like Ben, but if they can get someone valuable for him I would hope they pull the trigger. Great athleticism but tended to stand around camped out on the 3-pt line instead of moving without the ball to take advantage of his strengths. Very poor ball handling, which is a problem when you're dribbling into a scrum, and if they are still talking about your confidence a year later than I vote for a change of scenery. It could be that he just needs a better fit.

For all the gripes I'm seeing about D-Thrill, I thought he did pretty well. Very active in rebounding, in the mix breaking up a lot of shots, and showing some signs of developing the start of a perimeter game. He struck me as unselfish and athletic, and I know he's been working to shore up his weaknesses. I like the progress.

Overall, especially in the first half, I thought the guys played very unselfishly. Lots of passing up good shots for great shots, and off-the-ball help. I thought the second half wasn't so much selfishness, but rather a desire to get any points they could because of the deficit they created with their insufficient defense. It was great to see our guys play, but I do have to say that I expected a full game out of them. Thumbs up for the first half though!

It could be all the ink is weighing on him. I had no idea ...

After watching the game, and its only one game. I really like seeing that Nik will be able to contribute right away. But everyone else not named Nik, Acey or Dthrill were pretty bad as a whole. I know were all talking about how bad Ben was, and he was... but now we have Nik able to fill in there if needed. I am more worried about Ray not looking like he is ready to take the next step , and we just let your lead point guard go....

Darren Collison ring any bells?

I think this sums it up. No one looked good the entire game. Even players that we know can and have had good games in actual NBA games. Nik looked confident, which is good. D-Will and Ben did not, which is bad. Ray looked uninterested. Acy did his thing. If there were other players on the court, they didn't even register on my radar because they did nothing. I know it's just summer league, but the coaches better light a fire under these guys.

Dwill really did turn it around. He was terrible for a while.
Unfortunately, that's par for the course with Williams. He'll get your hopes up and then break your heart. Then, just when you think he's worthless, he'll show a hint of why he was drafted #2.

I really like Stauskas big time he team defense is pretty good but needs to work on the 1on1 defense. I am willing to say he is the best passer on the team he should have had 4 more assists if guys wernt messing them up when they got it. His basketball IQ is really really high, how high? This guy is a 3point specialist but instead of jacking 3 after 3 he read the defense and sliced them on his way to the rim of dishing off nice passes. Two other things I liked was his unselfishness and confidence. The ball rarely stuck in his hands and he moved it and you can tell he is oozing with confidence he has that swagger.

Ps. PDA better get his ass on the phone with Milwaukee before it's to late and off them Ben/JT.
